Thought I'd post this, since a couple of the local Conservatives keep such a close watch on dems when it comes to paying their taxes ? and think it's such a big deal to bring up. I wonder if this is important to them, for a man who wants to run our country? Maybe this is just a part of the reason the McCains want to keep Cindy's tax info private, eh?

John and Cindy McCain Delinquent On Property Taxes
From the Houston Chronicle Website
Posted 6/29/2008 6:40 AM CDT

In another chapter in the John McCain story of "I don?t know much about economics" comes this story from Newsweek that John and Cindy McCain are property tax delinquents. It seems the McCains haven?t paid their property taxes on a beachfront condominium in La Jolla, CA in the last four years. But I guess when you have 7 homes, that?s right 7, it?s hard to keep up with all the bills.

But it?s all been taken care of now, after Newsweek broke the story. Better late than never, I always say. From the article:

"Shortly after NEWSWEEK inquired about the matter, the McCain aide e-mailed a receipt dated Friday, June 27, confirming payment by the trust to San Diego County in the amount of $6,744.42. County officials say the trust still owes an additional $1,742 for this year, an amount that is overdue and will go into default July 1."

The McCain?s claim the bank that manages Mrs. McCain?s trust which handles the condo never received the notice of the overdue taxes. I wonder if I could get away with that excuse for 4 years, probably not. But then again, I?m not an heiress to a beer distributorship whose net worth is somewhere north of $100 million.

I have another question, not just about the fact that the McCains didn?t pay this bill for 4 years, but about the amount of the taxes. It seems to me that $6,744.42 is pretty cheap for 4 years worth of property taxes on a beachfront condo in La Jolla, California. Four years of property taxes on my 3 bedroom shack in Pasadena, Texas comes to more than that.

I know there are those who will dismiss this story as no big deal. So what, they?re rich, this is a piddling amount to them, much ado about nothing, right? Well let?s imagine for a minute that the names in this story were Barack and Michelle Obama instead of John and Cindy McCain. The Obamas would be called "elitists" who think they are too good to pay their taxes and out of touch with the problems of the average American.

Let me ask you a question. With 7 homes and a net worth of over $100 million, yet property taxes go unpaid for 4 years, who looks elitist and out of touch now?

Chad:

I'm sure the liberal media just happened to miss this story. But after all, in their defense, they are probably too busy checking up on what Obama's pastor may have said at some funeral in 1957.

Now that's headlines.

No doubt one of 2 reasons -either oversite or they couldn't afford the $6,744.42

Tough to figure that one out :)

---and on Obama pastor Edward
he might have a little personal injury Attorney blood in him--I see has has moved into million plus mansion in lilly white neighborhood with his 2 mercedes benz--

Yep God Damn America--for letting me con my congregation out of all these bucks and spend 20 years teaching my "nephew" the art of grifting.

and suddenly oversight is a perfectly understandable defense for tax evasion . . . . unless they're named Franken or Olberman . . . and the beat goes on

Along the lines of what Bobby is sayin... there is no doubt in my mind that if John McBush was a democrat running for President the media would be looking into his war record while he was a POW to determine if he leaked military secrets to the North Vietnamese.

He'd be "swift-fonda-ed".

Of course you don't care about their oversite in this matter. As Bobby perfectly pointed out, you only think it's a big deal if a non-conservative engages in personal oversite, then you will post about it, highlight it, and call it a problematic thing for someone who wants to become President, or report on those issues. Your "objectivity" is quite impressive here, again.

Curious how you can label four years of failure to pay property taxes on a personal vacation property - to the point of defaulting on the property - a matter of oversite. But, I guess it depends on who the person is, and if you need your candidate for President to have the issue swept under the carpet or not.

Again, maybe this is a part of the reason they want to keep Cindy's records under wraps...who knows what else they are hiding, and how drunk the Budweiser accountants are when they are working on the "fuzzy math."

don't know about the taxes other than they should be paid, but the comments on him being a POW are in very poor taste. Not even spytheweb has questioned that.

What I find :mj07: Bobby is your inabilty to see diff of property tax and failing to file taxes in 17 states--then tack on getting nailed for workmans comp fraud--

So you see no difference--
May we define that as "liberal logic" sir?

What I find funny is your failure to see the difference between committing crimes (failure to pay and file taxes) and dismissing that as fine and dandy while attending church for twenty years and considering that the damnation of a presidential candidate?

May we define that as "conservative logic" sir?

They're two people that rely on advisers to know the rules and didn't comply with those rules. It's not like he didn't pay state tax - he just paid it to the wrong states. And no one ever accused him over worker's comp fraud - until this post.

Your tolerance of conservative wrongdoing continues to amaze

Edward I couldn't help but picture you juking and jiving with the Rev--your pony tail and fanny pck flopping about.--:142smilie

Now to answer your question--

Would be on similiar scale to you giving a Klan member for 20 years a pass on being racist ;)

That would be conservative logic your honor. :)

So, apparently, the McCain's failure to obey the law in this case (I wonder how many others, since she is the real "breadwinner" and hides her finances from view) is ok with you. Nice to know that, moving forward. Again, I guess it depends on who commits the act, and of course it's important to deflect attention from the subject at hand and try to link other issues to this one. "B-b-b-b-b-b-u-u-u-u-t-t-t-t- what about the liberals...what about what they did...that's REALLY important, not what the conservatives did."

I would say, thought that tax evasion is a pretty aggressive way to pay less in taxes. I guess they are just being proactive.
