Based on Marine's bio, he is 33. If that is not false info, there were only 4 guys from WI in the race of that age.

Two had balls out times, one bottom of the pack, and one, "why did you show up today?"

was there a dan or daniel in that 4-some?

ok gents,

I will give a slight recap on the event today.

The bike i had bought at walmart... sucked. i hopped on it a few times, not to train, but just to get a feel for the bike. Everytime i got on it and rode the front tire would go flat and i'd go buy a new tube.

I got sick of it and returned it. Picked up a nasty looking 10 speed at a garage sale earlier in the week that looks like it might have been around back and Louisianna was still just a big territory. But nonetheless, it would be a perfect bike to compete on in this event!

Showed up nice and early and ready to go. Gal was there whooping it up.

She bragged to me that she used to be a swimmer for years in high school and college and that she had actually competed in the event last year as well and posted a 17:00 minute swim time.

I was rather upset and already looking for my wallet to shovel out the dough - her sole strategy was going to be get in the water and pass me asap to win the bet and then she wouldn't have to worry about the bike or run against me and could do it at her own pace.

But alas, a light shined down upon me just moments later....
They announced that we would be departing in the same heat with each other.
So negotiations began in earnest... I took the side that since we were starting together, she could technically not pass me if she left the starting line at the same time as me.
She said that as soon as she got ahead of me she would win.

I voted that we go on best finish time instead since we were starting together and it would even things out.
She demanded that we stick to the "as soon as she is ahead she wins" routine.

In the end, she would not budge on it at all. I even offered to take individual times in each portion and she would have to beat me in 2 of 3 events on overall time and she wouldn't budge.

So, I refused to compete under her rules - and laid out on the beach and laughed at her as she came ashore from her swim.

Her times:
19:52 swim
39:48 bike
28:11 run
overall time of 1:30:31

Sorry to disappoint in the non-action of the wager - but I'm not running that for the fun of it.

[/QUOTE]For her to win, she must either pass me at some point in the race or finish with a better time overall than me.[/QUOTE)

:mj03:

So what happened to this part of the original agreement

:00x16

It's just not patriotic to boo a marine but.......

I think you discovered you couldn't use your water wings and opted for playing with your bucket in the sand :mj07:

And now I see BetJam won't give me my wager back on the over 1'38' :mj16: Said DNP plays counted as losses :mj07:

Guess we'll have to stoop to an Air Force guy's word next time :142smilie
