Wondering if anyone in Twin Cities has heard anything about a number of Vikings having the flu this week. Feist's site has "numerous players" listed as having the flu this past week but checking the St Paul paper website, I saw nothing mentioned. Any further info is appreciated.
Rutgers +6.5
Taking the road dog here who was quite poor as a road team last year but played very well in a losing cover at North Carolina last week. Rutgers is now 2-0 ATS this season. Temple always seems to get better as the season goes on and the players learn the match-up zone better, so...
Not crazy about today's card. Only a few totals plays for me:
St Louis/Wash UNDER 41.5--Warner looked to be far from 100% during his series on Monday Night. Washington has nobody that can throw the ball effectively. Maybe someday Spurrier will wake up and realize he has the 2001 NFC leading...
Number 1s: Oklahoma, Miami FL, Iowa, Ohio State
Number 2s: USC, Kansas St, Georgia, Alabama (I'm letting them in)
Number 3s: Washington St, Texas, Notre Dame, Penn State
Number 4s: Colorado, Maryland, Boise State, Pittsburgh
Top returning starter PG Cedric Banks is ineligible for UIC's first 4 games. Evansville has a new coach and this is both teams' first game. UIC won last year 64-61 but have to go with the home team here as the loss of Banks will be big.
All 4 in my pool still advance. Ironically, going into Week 12 and none of the 4 who remain have used defending Super Bowl champ New England or AFC runner-up Pittsburgh. Of the 4 left, I'm the only one who's used St. Louis.
I still have Oakland, SF, Pittsburgh and New England left. New...
Lots of live dogs this week:
MINNESOTA +6.5--this is the trendy dog but everything supports it. GB always underperforms on turf/domes, esp. in Minny. Minny actually has the edge in rushing, rush ypc, rush defense andr rush yoc. GB is +14 in T/O and Minny is -16 so they are due for a few...
I'm referring to closing all betting windows when the clock says 0 minutes to post. There's usually another minute or two to load the horses. I see Churchill owned tracks are going to this and I believe NYRA is also. It will inconvenience some but in the long run it is a good thing. I've...
The world according to Bret:
"Brian Urlacher is not a good linebacker. He's a good defensive player and maybe someday he's going to become a good linebacker."
I guess leading the league in tackles isn't enough. He pass defends as good as any LB in the league. And he's the fastest. I guess...
My pool is now down to 4 but this week looks very difficult, at least for me. Of the 4 left, I'm the only one who's already used St. Louis, who hosts Chicago on Monday night. I'm guessing the other 3 will all take St. Louis. Here are my options:
1. Take J-ville. They are off a win, and...
Cleveland +114
Washington doesn't get to many chances to beat the defending world champs and they blew a 17 pt lead only to end up winning a nail biter. Jordan played great but I expect the knees to be bothering him today. Great spot to take the live home doggie.
UNDER 200
Love to go under in games w/double digit spreads. The more likely the blowout, the less likely the foul-a-rama nonsense at the end of the game which pushes many games over the total.
I am off to a poor start in the NBA and if you like these 2 games, beware. Most of my NBA plays are based on angles so I have to ride out some losing streaks, and I'm in one right now:
Dall/Toronto OVER 192
NY Knicks +7.5
If you're on the other side, consider it a good omen. You know its...
No excuse for betting any of the warm weather teams after November 1 when they travel to cold weather sites. I went back from 1995 thru 2001 and checked how the teams from Calif, Florida, Arizona and Louisiana fared. I didn't count Dallas, since they get some cold weather there. The teams...
If you didn't watch the game and only looked at final numbers, it looked like Miami was the better team. Nothing could've been further from the truth:
First Downs Miami 25-16
Rushing Miami 142 GB 104
Plays Yds/Miami 76-305 GB 53-270
Penalties: Miami 5 Green Bay 9
But the one stat that made...
OK, here's who I've used so far: Miami, San Diego, Denver, Philly, Indy, Tampa, St. Louis, Buffalo and Atlanta. We still have 5 alive in our pool. I realize others still alive won't have all the same teams used but probably have used a majority of them. Here is my strategy as of Monday...
