gotta love having your biggest bet of the day on a 1H under... one team gets shut out for the first 29 minutes and 59 seconds, and it still goes over. alright, moving on.

really not sure what to do with this game. i've done quite well betting against ND in any meaningful bowl game over the last 10-15 years. they haven't been able to compete in those games, mostly against top SEC teams. are they actually for real this year? or has the rest of the pack fallen enough for them to have a chance? as i've said a few times, this georgia team is obviously a couple notches below the recent great teams, on both sides of the ball.

quick look at some #s... ND averages 6.5 yards/play and they're actually better away from home (7.0 vs 6.1). the georgia defense gives up 5.1 yards/play (40th in the country), but are better away from home (4.7 vs 5.7 at home).

other side of the ball, georgia averages 5.8 yards/play (down from 7.1 last year!) with a huge discrepancy home (6.7) vs away (5.2), and that was WITH beck. but also keep in mind georgia's last 3 games away from home were against texas (twice) and ole miss, who are both in the top 5 in defensive yards/play. ND is 4th in the country, allowing 4.4 yards/play. they are a little better at home (4.1) than away (4.7). ok, so another top defense.

one thing we can learn from the last 2 days is that the teams that played in the first round have come out of the gate well.

penn st was up 14-0 after 1Q and 17-7 at halftime.
ohio st was up 14-0 after 1Q and 34-8 at halftime.
texas was up 14-3 after 1Q and 17-3 at halftime.

ND 1Q (-.5) 4 to win 4.8
ND 1H (ML) 3.4 to win 3
1H under (21.5) 4.5 to win 4

ole miss hasn't released a depth chart for this game, so it's hard to know exactly who is playing. near as i can tell, it has been confirmed that their top RB (parrish) and top WR (harris) are out, but both have backups with similar #s. they will also be without leading tackler, chris paul jr. part of me wants to take 10 seconds to see if it's THAT chris paul, but i don't quite care enough to do it. they may be also missing jadon canady (2nd on team with 11 PDs) and their starting RT. both are in the portal, but i can't confirm their status for tonight.

duke is starting the equipment manager at QB. henry belin IV, so he comes from a long line of awful QBs. he started one game last year, against NC St. he was... not good. he completed 4 of 12, but he did have 107 yards. most of those came on a 69-yard td. it was a hitch-and-go, and the CB bit hard on the hitch. but i give henry credit... while the WR was open by 5 yards, he DID hit him right in stride. and, yes, i found the highlight. that is the level of detail you get from smitty.

ole miss led the country, only allowing 2.3 yards/rush. duke's ground game is anemic at best. as a team, they average 3.2 yards/carry. they are 126th in rushing yards/game. their top RB (thomas), who i think is sitting out today, averaged a whopping 4.1/rush. his backup averaged 4.0. despite only having 5 carries, belin IV is their 4th-leading rusher with 23 yards. yup, that is not a typo.

(just took a break to get caught up on the game. watched up until the fumble. ND appears determined to keep georgia in the game with stupid penalties. and i really, really hope their offense is rapidly moving down the field as i'm typing this.)

alright, i don't like this game one bit. obviously the ACC was trash this year, but it seems unlikely that ole miss gives a fuck. they could come out like alabama a couple days ago. they had most of their starters AND a revenge motive. how'd THAT work out?

i want to play the duke TT under 14.5, but you can see how i've done on TTs this bowl season. although i am on a 1-win hot streak!

ok, just one play, and this is kinda out of left field.

their TT is now down to 8.5. i'm tempted to do the dumb thing and play the under, even at that #.
hope you didn't cuz they just got 7 lol..
the dook kid has a good arm, he may not survive physically the whole game lol

I'm rooting for Mississippi by 18+ and scoring all game for tm total

He may and that's great if you have them , but there's no real statement to anyone in SEC or NFL scouts against this Duke team . He can win by 70 and no one cares, but if you are right and you are betting it, then its a great call if he pushed down the pedal the whole game. But he better not get Dart hurt he taken some licks.
