about 20 minutes before this game, i was going to attempt some quick handicapping, when an old friend called who i hadn't talked to in almost a year. nearly 90 minutes later... well, i missed out on the detroit bowl, or whatever it's called now.
i placed a live bet on the under two plays before the Toledo TD. couple minutes later, i was thinking about playing Toledo live, when the game dropped off the board. oh, Toledo just got a TAINT. as usual, i was too early on the under and too late on Toledo.
*sees the remaining two games on the schedule*... ugh.
Rate Bowl
i know why they are now the "Rate Bowl", but... seriously? is this the worst bowl name ever? i mean, that would be fitting for these teams. ok, i'm not going to spend much time on this trash. a few notes....
both teams will be without their top RB. giddens (6.6 yds/carry) is certainly a loss for K St. his backup, Edwards, showed some ability early in the season, but didn't do much the last half of the year. overall he averaged 6.3/carry. missing Monangai is big for RU. i only saw one game this year, but he's a beast. Raymond, his backup, only averaged 4.2 per carry, but did have 71 yards and 2 TD on 9 carries in the season finale against michigan st.
neither qb is all that great. johnson is also a threat with his legs.
RU has won 10 straight non-conference games and 14 of their last 15.
Rutgers (ML) 1 to win 2.1
Over (52) 4X. Trusting my gut on this one, because I don't know how either of these teams will score more than 17. But it feels like this total should be around 46.
