Tyson vs Williams goes off this weekend.

I just seen Williams talking about the fight and he seemed confused and unprofessional.
The interviewer says to Williams. Can Mike Tyson make it back to be Heavyweight champ ?
Williams says sure its wide open.

I think the correct answer would have been
"I will beat Tyson and then we will see."

Tyson should rock his clock ?

any thoughts ?

I posted a short write up on this subject in my 7/24 thread. I think Tyson will definitly stop Williams, its just a matter of how long it will take. Williams is 4" taller and has a 8" reach advantage so it might take a few rounds. See my 7/24 thread.

Having said that...
5dimes just put a line on "Tyson fight does not start round 3" at +210. It might take him longer than 2 rounds but there is serious value getting +210 on a 1st or 2nd round ko as I see Tyson going right at Williams from the opening bell. Again see my 7/24 thread.

If you don't mind laying the wood, Tyson inside distance (-390 now) is the safest way to go. I recommend parlaying it with Marquez to bring the odds down.

the griffin/garcia bout looks strange to me......griffin`s a little younger....but he had a very solid amateur background....garcia has basicallly none....and griffin`s the much bigger guy....fighting at home vs basicallly a jr middleweight....after fighting super middles and a few lt heavies...garcia coming off two stoppages...now fighting the much bigger prospect....

are they ready to relegate garcia to opponent already?

soooooo,i parlayed griffin with my love/hate relationship nate campbell..do or die for nate...my gut says nate wins here....or he`s through...martinez is almost 36...they fought a draw,previously...i expect campbell to be totally focused after the peden debacle...but,who knows with campbell?

...and also did a 3-way with brit graham earl which i got at -220......

just for kicks...last weeks money burning a hole in my pocket...lol

you are alreadty aware that i played tyson under 4.5 at -133.....and parlayed chi with tyson inside the distance...

sorry to chime in late but I keep hearing Teddy Atlas say he wants to get Tyson some rounds under his belt...not that it makes much difference in what he wants because we all know that Tyson does his own thing.

i think your rite GW, freddie roach has been training him. they asked tyson yesterday about the round his corner wants him to fight. they want tyson to get some conditioning in but i can not see tyson not trying to knock him out early. if i remember correctly tyson has gone rite after his opponents his last couple fights. it just makes me nervous laying this much on a fight. i just can not see tyson losing. no way they would match him up with a challenge in his 1st fight, he has signed on to fight 6 or 7 fights and they is no way they would want him to struggle in fight number 1.

Roach trained Tyson for his fight against Etiene also...it lasted 48 seconds. But I too have heard that Roach wants Tyson to work his jab ang go to the body more.

I still think Tyson being patient is not a good idea against a taller, longer fighter with a good jab who can also punch a little.

I agree with the above statements that Tyson's poeple would not put him in against a guy that can beat him right off the bat, and chose his first opponent very carefully. Like I said in my other thread, Williams was stopped in the sixth round a year and a half ago by Sam who has a good right hand but nothing like what Tyson brings to the table.

I've heard that Williams sometimes cries before his fights due to the pressure and nerves, I imagine he will be balling before this one.

Even if Tyson works his jab and goes to the body more, I think he will take advantage of the first opportunity he gets and Williams will go down the first chance he gets. Its very possible that Williams is in it for the payday and will not want to take alot of punishment in a losing cause.

Either way I can't wait to see how it plays out.

Williams weighed in at 265!

Thats 30 lbs more than he weighed 2 years ago!!!

7 lbs more than he weighed when he was stopped by Sam a year and a half ago!

Its good to see you back in the fight game.

I think Marquez will easily beat Ruiz and will probably stop him in the mid to late rounds.
You can get him at -500 (pinnacle)

Tyson is a pretty safe bet but -800 is unplayable IMO, taking him to win inside distance is a little cheaper -450 (5dimes)

The best way to beat Tyson is to take him into the later rounds, but with Williams weighing 265 I don't see that happening. Tyson has been training very hard for 3 months, so he may actually have the advantage if the fight goes into the late rounds.

I noticed something that supports a play on Marquez, besides my capping. 5dimes has "Ruiz wins inside distance" at +650 or so, and "Ruiz by 12 round decision" at +1100. Which means (according to them) Ruiz has a much better chance of stopping Marquez than winning a decision. But Ruiz only has 12 ko's in 34 fights and Marquez has a great chin. So the way I see it, Ruiz should be a +1100 dog as he has no chance in hell of stopping Marquez.

Btw, 2 years ago Ruiz lost a unanimous decision to Oscar Andade whose record now stands at 31-23-1.

Really thought I should post, and congratulate Danny Williams.

Excellent fight, and finally I hope this is the end of Mike Tyson as a serious boxer.

A little about Danny Williams. A big under achiever over here, who promised a lot as a youngster, but delivered little. He is still our best British Heavyeweight following the retirement of Lennox Lewis, and I think he showed that tonight. Stood toe to toe with Tyson and beat him hands down.

The ugly face of US boxing re appeared as well in the shape of the refereee. To deduct two points off Williams was a farce, and to give Tyson every chance during the count, was again unfair on a better opponent. I hope this ref doesnt see too much fight action in the future.

I agree that the inexperienced Kentucky referee was way out of line with the point deductions and a very long 10 count. He was obviously in Don Kings pocket.

But it was also very obvious that Tyson twisted his knee in the 1st round and its very hard to fight in that condition. I don't think we have seen the last of Tyson.

Congrats to Williams for his performance tonight despite Tyson being handicapped.

campbell dominates martinez until he decides to foul his way out of the bout...down 3 times....

griffin stops overrated garcia....

earl stops murray...

all the parlays with these 3 hit...under 4.5 in tyson/williams hits....

and a small hedge on williams hits at almost 8-1....sweet......

only loser is the chi/tyson inside the distance parlay....

another excellent night...

congrats to danny williams....feel bad for tyson...he was legitimatelty hobbled by the knee after the 1st round...couldn`t get the same leverage on his shots...you need your legs...thats why,in many instances, guys that can`t punch are "arm punchers".....they just can`t get the leverage that heavy punchers do...and the leverage comes from your base...

no knock on williams...tons of heart...he came to win... fought tyson`s fight and came out on top....congrats...roll the brinks truck up to williams` door...he hit the lottery...

and he earned it...

serious condolences to the cranman...sort of surprised that you took this shot...but,the leg made a difference.....

tough break...

you`ll get `em back...g.l.
