er...did I say Teddy Atlas was the trainer? I'm getting my Teddy's and Freddy's mixed up. Wow...can't say it's a complete shocker because Tyson has been a one dimensional fighter (no defense or lateral movement) since his stint in the joint. Does this mean an end to the Tomato Can Theater or are we to expect Tyson back in the ring? I'm guessing he'll be back since he still is in debt to the tune of 30 million or so. He could probably make half that if he steps in the ring for a beating against Vitali Klitschko. But if he loses to another boxer not ranked in the top 20, I can't see people continuing to shell out their duckets to see him.

Anyone like Hernandez in tonight's fight? Haven't pulled the trigger but thinking about a small play on the underdog.

tonight?.....not much here,wagering-wise...you could parlay marquez and morales........but,being that friday was excellent and the last few weeks have been lucrative,i`m gonna try a couple large dogs in a small way...

i`ll take a small wager on heriberto ruiz vs rafael marquez(+475).....i don`t think ruiz is strong enough to keep marquez off him for 12.....i`m actually a big marquez fan...one of my bigger dog paydays was when marquez dethroned tim austin....

that said, ruiz is a very solid boxer...knows how to tie guys up...and throws nice combinations...is a little taller than marquez....

his problem is that he really doesn`t have enough pop to keep a big puncher like marquez off him for 12...

but,if he lulls marquez into a long fight, who knows...he`s never been stopped...marquez has never lost a fight in which he wasn`t stopped...and i doubt that ruiz can stop him...

but who knows?...ruiz has some talent...maybe 1/3 of a unit to win almost a unit and a half... wtf....we`re playing with their money...

gun to my head...marquez is to strong...but,ruiz can make him sweat a little...maybe marquez looks past ruiz a little after his easy defense vs that white guy that couldn`t fight a lick...ruiz can fight a bit...the problem is that marquez seems to get better each time out...

also 1/3 of a unit on carlos hernandez vs el terrible(+380)...hernandez is a bull...he comes forward and throws punches....and he can do it for 12 rounds....as we saw vs tough steve forbes...a great fight...non-stop action...and forbes is no slouch...not much power....but he`s an excellent, tough fighter...

morales is morales...a pfp guy...a boxer/ puncher extrordinaire....but he can be lured into punchouts....and he`s seen some incredible wars of late...have they taken a toll?.....maybe...

i thought that jesus chavez gave him hell...if he hadn`t been injured during the fight, and had to fight one handed for a large part of the bout, who knows.....it was not an easy fight for morales...

hernandez is like chavez...very tough...excellent whiskers....relentless volume puncher...

he has fought quite a few bouts at 136.......morales has just stepped up to 130....hernandez is the bigger guy naturally....

if the tale of the tape is correct,we have a decent 6" reach disadvantage to consider......but only around a 2" height disadvantage...not exorbitant...

and hernandez` 3 losses have been to 5`11" master boxer genaro hernandez, master boxer floyd maywether, and 6`0" aaron zarate....he`s never been stopped...

i have noticed morales slowing down towards the end of some of his recent fights....he`s the younger guy...in age...maybe not in mileage....

morales is the much more skilled guy here...but,if he can`t get hernandez out in the first half of the bout.....if he doesn`t work hard in the first half of the bout to slow hernandez down in the second half, the second half could be a war of attrition....

also, morales has fought the much tougher caliber of opposition....

do i honestly think think i`ll hit either of these?.....probably not....

do i think they have a shot....maybe.....i`ve seen guys that i thought had lesser chances win....

a full 2/3 of a unit....to win what?......i don`t know....if one guy wins we are rolling in clover...

for the fun of it....because things have gone well of late...throw aways to have some action without getting hurt...

i wouldn`t suggest anybody try and get well with these....they are substantial underdogs for a reason....they are fighting 2 legit top 10 pfp guys...

kinda hope b.l. gets his marquez bet in...i have to admit i am a fan of the marquez brothers...

for sh-ts and giggles...

Watching it now, that was a great upper cut! Got worried a tad on that low blow, glad he recovered and took the shot!

had excellent weekend...actually 3 weeks running...

.glad you got marquez in.....marquez was what i expected...the bigger puncher...the stronger guy....ruiz buckled his knees a little in the 3rd...a little surprising...marquez gets better and better...ruiz was no punk...

morales fought a masterful fight...and hernandez was more limited than i intially thought...he`s nowhere near as good as jesus chavez....

not surprising....

lets keep the roll going next week...

Just wondering, does anyone have any thoughts on the Hopkins/DLH match coming up?

What about Mayorga/Trinidad?

While you were away the DLH-Hopkins fight has been brought up many times. GW took Hopkins at a very generous -170 or so when it first opened. I posted that Hopkins was too big and too strong for Trinidad and he will be too big and too strong for DLH. I haven't actually played Hopkins yet but I probably will when the fight gets closer. Having said that, if the fight goes to the cards who knows what the judges will come up with. You have to be very carefull with these high profile fights, especially when laying heavy wood.

I plan on taking Hopkins with a small hedge on the over as I don't see Hopkins getting stopped by the undersized DLH. Hopefully I will hit both plays as DLH has a great chin and alot of pride.

Trinidad-Mayorga
Tito will be coming off a 2 year layoff to fight a crazy, hard hitting fighter with an excellent chin. That may be a big mistake IMO as Mayorga is the only fighter to beat Vernon Forrest, and he did it twice (one by ko, one by decision)

Having said that...
Trinidad is definitly the more skilled fighter and at the top of his game he would make Mayorga look like an ameteur just like Spinks did. But I can't see Tito being at the top of his game after a two year layoff. If I was Tito I would at least take one tune-up fight against a guy that can't punch and doesn't have a good chin in case I had some ring rust to work through in the first few rounds. Mayorga is not the kind of guy you want to fight if you aren't fully prepared. Forrest was completely prepared and got his ass kicked in their first fight.
I plan on putting a small play on Mayorga at +230 or so.
