Dear Scott,
I respect your passion for your team and your ability to explain your way out of any situation. You could be caught in bed with another woman (naked) and convince your wife that it was not your fault. That being said, I think most, nearly all of us are just plain sick and damm tired of USC. The athletes from our schools move on to the NFL when its time. I think USC's athletes stay is they are afraid of the pay cut in the NFL.
I don't deny USC's 1 National Championship, it was a quality win over an overrated opponent, a staple of USC's sucess. USC did not win the 2003 title because they were not playing in the game, they agreed at the beginning of theseason to let the BCS determine the champion, then they decided to change their minds and split/ the NC. That is not possible, you have to be playing in the game to take home the hardware. What do they have on display at USC a picture of Saban holding up the trophy with a cutout of Petes head over Sabans?
I have played many of your games this year(mostly losses because your sarragin system is like the PAC 10 VASTLY OVERRATED). Or perhaps I did not pick the right sarragin games. I played USC because I believed the HYPE, and thats all it was HYPE. USC was the media darling. A hottie QB, the 619 guy and a bunch of gay looking guy cheerleaders in sweater vests! I lost a few hundred dollard playing USC but it was money well spent. I have never slept so good in my life because I know the reign is over, and it makes me feel good to know that you are going to have to chew on this loss for a long time! You had a great run, congrats, but welcome to the real world of rebuilding a program. I have a little quote for you to comfort you at night......from Melvin Olliver following LSU's 2003 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP "People are going to start respecting LSU or we are going to punch them in the mouth." Remember the piling up wins against inferior Pathetic-10 conference opponents does not put you with the greatest teams of all time!
