How bout someone who jumps into a thread during the game and says "suck it DerekNJND" in those exact words because OSU beat ND?

you can guess which fans get my vote

You deserved it after bashing my post...but everything is history now and its all said and done in good fun not necessarily completlely intended for bad taste.

This smacks of after-the-fact piling on. I don't think it's possible to feel anything but respect for what LSU persevered through and accomplished this year-- but to deny USC their rightful place in history?

How many talented teams have their been in professional or college sports? How many of them have won 34 straight games??

Texas was the better team this year, but USC will be at or near the top for a long time to come.

I cant believe I just read this whole thread

quick note: It was OU who was overrated in 2003. neither LSU or USC were. The AP vote, after LSU beating OU and USC beating Mich, was more a rebellion against the BCS NOT a disrespect of LSUs accomplishment, NOR do I believe they honestly thought USC was better than LSU, just that indeed USC deserved to have played LSU rather than OU

Lastly, until 2004 the AP poll was a component of the BCS....put this to rest 2003 Champion LSU

END OF DISCUSSION

You obviously don't understand how it works. History of college football you always had the coaches poll and AP poll. You had many split NC's. Coaches poll is part of the BCS and that is why they are forced to vote the BCS NC winner NC. AP poll only allowed its poll to be calculated in the BCS formula but they NEVER agreed to name the winner of the BCS NC game the NC. No controversy. No breaking the rules. AP poll NEVER agreed to it.

Prior to bowl games, both the coaches and AP poll had USC #1 over LSU. (poor LSwho) The difference is after the bowl games, coaches poll was FORCED to vote LSU #1. If they were not FORCED to vote LSU #1, LSU might not have won ANYTHING! Just like Auburn in 2004. Auburn last year could have won the national championship if AP poll thought they were the best in the country. Coaches poll was FORCED to vote USC #1 over Auburn. But the coaches poll already had USC #1 over AU prior to bowl season. AP could choose to vote any team they wanted #1.

These are the facts, deal with it. To claim the coaches poll is more worthy than AP is foolish. Vice versa.

They were not forced on anything, it was AGREED upon the universitys that the BCS would determine the NATIONAL CHAMPION of college football....not the AP.......... the Morning Call of Allentown claimed Boston U. as nat. champs and they don't even have a football team........but they got a trophy

The coaches poll was FORCED to vote the winner of the BCS NC game National Champions.

AP poll NEVER said they will vote the winner of the BCS NC game National Champions. AP poll only allowed the BCS to use their poll in calculations.

This is difficult to understand.

AP got tired of being grouped WITH THE BCS because of what posters in this thread are saying so they pulled out of it completely. Some people just don't understand how it works. Makes them look silly.

Deep in the heart of Texas
USC has a great program. 34 straight is unbelievable in this age of parity and scholarship restrictions. But for a few plays USC would be champs. But for one play ND would have taken them out of contention. But for one play PSU would have been in the championship game. Scott makes good points. What pisses many off is that he makes them over and over. It's like a catholic priest arguing that there is only one true religion. Madjack, can you please move this thread to one of the forums almost nobody reads?

You have to be kidding. To make that kind of statement just shows how classless you are. And that my friend is a fact. A classy person doesn't make a statement like that.

sorry buddy....it's true.....deal with a lot of fans, mostly during march at various tourney events....but also in football.....my rankings are based on personal interaction and is just one mans opinion but lsu fans are far and away the loudest, most delusional, classless fans around (see your buddy above)......right behind them are illinois basketball fans, and then ohio state football fans and raider fans (are they really fans though or just bangers)

some of the best fans i've dealt with outside of the pac 10:

kansas basketball fans
michigan state basketball fans
penn state football fans
nebraska football fans

Football wise, Ohio State in Columbus probably the worst, although there were some SC guys in Section 19 Wednesday night that came in a close second. OU has some pretty bad fans too, but hard not to sympathize with guys stuck in a trailer with dust everywhere.

Based on my Final Four experiences, Puke fans may take the cake for simply being assholes. Have been thrilled to see them lose each time I have attended one of their FF appearances.

I too give props to Husker fans.

sun tzu,
i hear you complaining about the sc fans at the rose bowl, and it makes me laugh... if you only knew, those are the good, rich alumni you were sitting around... try sitting with the ones on figueroa ave. the ex-raider fan!

in south-central unless your a thug, your a victim.
next time in l.a. wear all your orange texas garb and tell sc fan "hookem horns" i'm sure he'll be even more cordial than the guys at the rose bowl. :mj07:

I have been lucky.

I went to ND and sat in ND section and ND fans around me ROCKED!

Last years BCS NC OU fans around me were great.

Texas fans sitting around me in the Rose Bowl were great too.

Nothing but class!

One of my closest friends in the world is a Nebraska fan, and she went to UNO (university of Nebraska - Omaha).

Nebraska scored their first TD in the Alamo Bowl(after the not called fumble), and she called singing the fight song after we agreed to not talk till after the game. I thought it was pretty obnoxious, but I love her and didn't answer the phone, but I listened to the voicemail during commercial. Later, after the game I asked her why she broke the rules we set? She said she had to call quick because that would probably be the only moment they could rub in. She was wrong and later apologized. We both agreed Nebraska played better, and we would never speak of it again.

So, I gotta give it to Nebraska fans too. In the end, pretty classy.
