Very sorry to hear about your loss Maverick. It's a difficult time of year to lose someone, especially someone as close to you as your mother. At least she did not suffer; you can take some comfort in that.
My grandfather is into his final days/weeks now. He's 94, and has gotten to the point where he is unable to leave his apartment anymore. Just two years ago he was climbing 20 flights of stairs per day; now, he has to stop and catch his breath when going from the family room to the kitchen. He sleeps about 16 hours a day. He's told me and my mother that "at this age life is not fun anymore", and that he is just waiting for the day when he goes.
This will be our last Christmas with him and we are all very emotional about it. It's very sad to see someone who was so active and so bright wither away and just want to die. So your mother may have been lucky that she went the way she did, and you may have been lucky that you did not have to witness it.
Keep your chin up & stay strong.
