Some familiar names will be filling the AAF team
The Arizona Hotshots are located in the Pac-12 footprint, so it only makes that the Alliance of American Football (AAF) franchise looks the part. It starts with head coach Rick Neuheisel, whose entire collegiate coaching career was spent in the Pac-12, highlighted by his head-coaching tenures at Colorado (1995-98), Washington (1999-2002), and UCLA (2008-11).

Now, he's running the show for the Hotshots, who will play their home games at Sun Devil Stadium on the campus of Arizona State University in Tempe. The Hotshots' roster (below) consists of 16 players who attended Pac-12 schools and are familiar with the 53,000-seat stadium. Included in this group is a pair of former Sun Devils in defensive tackle Will Sutton and wide receiver Rashad Ross. Other Pac-12 alums include UCLA defensive backs Rahim Moore and Randall Goforth.

But much of the attention will be on quarterback Trevor Knight, who put up big numbers as the starter for both Oklahoma and Texas A&M during his collegiate career. Now Knight and Neuheisel get a chance to see what kind of damage they can do together.

Birmingham Iron Roster (AAF Football)

https://athlonsports.com/aaf/birmingham-iron-roster-aaf-football

But the Iron's Alabama ties don't end there. More than a third of the 53-man roster is made up of players that played their college ball in the state, including for the Crimson Tide, Auburn, Troy, Samford, and Tuskegee. The most well-known of the bunch is probably former Alabama running back Trent Richardson.:mj07: He is one of 10 former Crimson Tide players on head coach Tim Lewis' roster. Lewis himself is a former NFL player with more than 20 years of coaching experience in the pros, including seven as a defensive coordinator for both the Steelers (2000-03) and Giants (2004-06).

I honestly am excited for this. I've got huge respect for bill polian and Hines ward who are the 2 major catalysts for the league...polian is the top executive....and even though there are roles above hines wards, hes taken on big responsibilities in getting it ready and is one of the top exec's as well

There is a lot of guys right out of the NFL and almost all have spent some time there so it should be a highly competitive league

The rules I like

1. You have to go for 2 pt conversion

2. No kickoffs...instead start at 25 yd line

3. No onside kicks...instead teams will get a '4th and 10' from their own 35....if they decide to try it and convert, they keep the ball where they are tackled....if they don't convert, the opponent gets the ball where the offense is down at

I really like some of the talents and they were all stars in college so the game should be entertaining and played at a level of atleast college and probably higher as they progress....

I'm mostly excited because if its successful and played at high level then we will have football played professionally to wager on almost all year long as well as fantasy leagues

I like the new rules. One I'd like to see them try and do away with is the half the distances penalties where you're only penalize a shorter distance. In turn they should just add the penalty distance to the line to make.

EX: 1st down ball on your own 6 yr line, a holding pen. only brings you back to the 3 yr line. to make it only 1st & 13... Instead move the yard to make from the 16 to the 26 making it a true 10 yards penalty 1st & 20...?:0008<strike></strike>
