Added...

Added...

1. Cabrerra to reach Semi-Finals [17/1] - long hitter and should do well in this format...

2. Alex Cejka [+150] over Monty...I know this is going against the board, but Cejka just earned his American Tour Card and you have to be playing well to survive that...

3. Angel Cabrerra [-105] vs. Scott Verplank - this line seems to have changed in favor of Cabrerra///

Sorry if I missed anyone. There is some seriously great handicapping happening...lets keep the steak alive!!!

Does anyone disagree that Daren Clarke/Davis Love winner now has to be the FAV to win the Gary Player bracket??

Any one for Tiger vs. Phil in finals??? TV would love that...

Leans for Thursday: MIK over Fax - big, Clark over Love; Sluman over Allenby - just a hunch; Romero over Izawa; Adam Scott over Medaiate; Rose over Sutherland...

I'm looking at four matches as solid opportunities but I'm not looking to risk giving back close to five units if they don't go my way.

(A) PARLAY Price(-145) over Fasth WITH Leaney(+115) over Leonard for 1* @ 5dimes @ 2.63/1

(B) PARLAY Sluman(+107) over Allenby WITH Cabrera(-132) over Cejka for 1* @ 5dimes @ 2.64/1

FWIW, it appears from my review that last year the players that won their Round 1 match in extra holes were 2-0 in Round 2 and players that won their Round 1 match at 1 Up through 18 holes were 4-0 in Round 2, but the comparable situations produced a 3-5 record in Australia the prior year (no breakdown between 1 Up after 18 holes and after extra holes from that year).

:)

Days re-cap: 4-3 with 2 of the Wins were 2 units. Not all that shabby....looking back, should have hammered Allenby, after seeing the post round interview with Sluman last night. He seemed like he had no confidence, and admitted he won first match by default...

Thursday

Thursday

I didn't post but was 3-0 yesterday with Mickelson, Faxon, and Lonard...

Love Tiger today and for the tournament but refuse to lay the chalk, especially vs Choi who may have the best shot at eliminating him.....

Took Faxon for the tournament at 30-1 on his putting alone. Mickelson is my 2nd favorite golfer behind Couples, and man does this guy frustrate the hell out of me....Won't wager this match as I love Mick and would do anything to see him vs tiger with Mick winning.......I have Faxon for the tourn so either way I come out a winner with this one....

My plays today:

Maruyama to win 5 units
Price to win 3 units
Cabrera to win 3 units
Toms to win 2 units
Leonard to win 1 unit

YAZ
Maruyama to win 5 units

Thursday re-cap and...

Thursday re-cap and...

1. Rose [-125] over Sutherland [Lost 1 down] - that SOB KS has cost me 2 losses - just keeps hanging around...

2. Scott [+125] over Mediate [Won 1 up] - tough match...

3. Mickelson [-154] over Faxon [2 units] [Won 3-2] - should have gone with 3 or 4 units on this one...

4. Cabrerra [-125] over Cejka [2 units] [Lost 4-2] - I may play Cejka the rest of the way !!! He just won his tour card, and is probably still "in the groove" and on an emotional high from that achievement...

5. Allenby [-130] over Sluman [2 units] [Won 1 up]

Dogs of the day...

6. Lowery [+140] over Furyk [Lost 6-5 - WOW]

7. Clark [+115] over Love III [Won 7-6 - can you believe that??]

Days re-cap: 4-3 with 2 of the Wins being at 2 units. Not all that shabby....looking back, should have hammered Allenby, after seeing the post round interview with Sluman last night. He seemed like he had no confidence, and admitted he won first match by default...went with Clark when I remembered how he defeated Woods in this event a while back...

Lets get some more $$$$$$ on Friday...:)

Here are my guesses for tomorrow - I don't know the odds yet.

Woods over Leaney
Izawa over Hoch
Price over Haas
Scott over Sutherland
Lonard over Allenby
Furyk over Clarke
Kelly over Mickelson
Toms over Cejka

Following that

Woods over Izawa
Scott over Price
Furyk over Lonard
Toms over Kelly

Then
Woods over Scott
Toms over Furyk

Final:
Toms wins 3&2

Round 3 Pick

Round 3 Pick

Haas +135 Price [Olympic]

Haas is playing well this week and tends to string good rounds together, so I expect him to continue his solid play tomorrow. While steady from week to week, Haas is erratic from hole to hole, which should work to his advantage in a match play setting. In his last 20 stroke play events in which he made the cut, Haas has recorded 24 double bogeys or higher; Price, by contrast, has only eight doubles or higher in his last 20 events making the cut. Though I do not put a lot of weight into this statistic, it does suggest that Haas could benefit from not being fully penalized for "explosion" holes, should he have one tomorrow. Overall, this is a value play as I rate Haas at only about 0.2 strokes behind Price, making the +135 more than enough for an 18-hole event.

I am also tempted by Allenby -102 Lonard at Pinnacle. Allenby is the stronger player by a good half-stroke, but I would only pull the trigger at +105 or better.

Friday's ideas...

Friday's ideas...

There are 8 Americans left, and one will be eliminated in the Kelly/Mickelson match...but in all likelihood, a few more will fall today...

1. I am taking Alex Cejka +500 to make the semi-finals...he recently got his Tour card and his good play has seemed to carry over into this event...

2. Clarke +100 vs Furyk...Clarke has a distance advantage off the tee, and is a good match player.

3. Scott -110 over Sutherland. This is my 3rd day playing against the defendaing champ, who has hung in there so far

4. Izawa +120 over Hoch - nice price on a very good player

5. Mickelson -155 over Kelly [2 units]

6. Jay Haas +135 over Nick Price...2 of the elder statesmen, who IMO are very equal in talent...

7. Cejka +135 over Toms - can see OT here

8. Allenby -110 over Lonard...should be a close match, but Allenby prevails 2-1 today...

Tiger should win but I am not lay -360 to -400!!!

Good luck - IP

:)

Re-Cap - Won with Clarke, Scott, Haas, but lost the other 4 matches, although they were all tight. What about Kelly's upset of MIK?? Does he have the touch to win it all. My guess is that it is Tiger's tournament to lose...

Saturday is another day...

Round 4 Pick

Round 4 Pick

Haas +110 Scott [Pinnacle] [2 units]

I will continue to ride the Haas machine as long as he remains underrated. I don't really understand why Scott is favored in this match. Haas is slightly better overall and is less erratic from round to round than his opponent, which makes +110 a good value.

I considered betting against Tiger this round, since -300 seems absurd for a single round of golf against a quality opponent (Hoch). But I looked at the head-to-head results over the last 14 months, and found that Tiger won 28 rounds, lost 8 rounds and tied 3 rounds against Hoch -- which suggests the odds might not be too far off after all...
