2nd round update: 4-1-0 and +4.24 units

What an eventful day! Two large wins, two close wins and a huge roller-coaster of a matchup. Allenby bogeyed his 1st hole, but was still five-under-par after eight holes and was then six ahead of Faxon. He doubled-bogeyed his 9th and then his 13th to throw in the towel with regards making the cut and as he continued to drop shots, Faxon birdied four of his last five holes to beat Allenby by three shots
eek.gif
But at the other four won: Gay/Tway 6 up; Janzen/Leonard 1 up; Triplett/McCarron 1 up; Woods/Mickelson 6 up.

Just one play is decided at the cut. Kenny Perry beat Andrade by three shots. The three remaining plays are all losing though, but at least they are close: Perry/Kelly 2 down; Mayfair/Smith 3 down; Perry/Smith 3 down. Some hope with the outrights: Hoch lies 3rd and Singh two shots further back in 10th. Price made the cut at least.

Back in the morning with 3rd round plays.

3rd rd results 0-0-1
Lickliter bogies last hole to push with Maggert.Probably hexed you Stan. One shot lead or ties with one and ole Murph usually steps in of late on this side of the fence..
Sutton/Maggert (also) tied today and that match remains square.
Mayfair (-5)closed on Faxon who is still out there.
Howell and Jobe are seperated by 3 with Jobe still out there.

3rd round update: 0-0-2 and +0.00 units

Geez! Four plays made today and every one ended in a tie! Just as well they resulted in a push rather than a loss as with the European Tour plays. Verplank, Chamblee, Lickliter and Maggert all shot 70. Slight improvement in the remaining 72-hole plays in that one now leads: Mayfair leads Smith by one. Not so good with the other two: Kenny Perry trails Kelly by three and Chris Perry trails Smith by six. High hopes with Hoch in the outrights. Great run of birdies to close within one of Love and given his very suspect temperament ... Singh lies 10th and Price 28th in an extremely congested leaderboard, so may also pick up a place finish as well.

Back in the morning with the 4th round plays.

Just caught this opening line at Olympic

Mickelson who is 2 shots ahead of Tiger is at +120 vs. Tiger. I don't know what I think of it but come one 2 shots and an underdog still I probably will have to play a little on it

One early 4th round play:

Davis Love does not win Western Open +127 @ Five Dimes [3 units]
DL3 has failed to win his last 5 tournaments when leader after 54 holes and seeing how he finished last night, can't see him breaking that trend.

Back later with the rest

Would have taken it myself Slip, but it's now -120. Big difference between Mickelson leading and not

Once again, interactives prove the better value. By shorting DL3 at 58, you effectively get the field at +138, vs the +127 @ 5dimes. Keep it in mind!

Agree with you buckeye apart from one point. People have reported that they have been locked out of playing the WSEX interactives this morning. Better to secure the play at lower odds (+130 @ Oly) in this situation IMO.

Weather update: today might be survival of the fittest. High of 90 with very high humidity. Last night locally we had the highest humidity in the U.S.--more of the same today.

I'm not following u Stanley.
I was able to sell/buy interactives before and after my post, their problems were fixed by 8:30EST, it appears. There is no risk in selling short if you don't care about buying back later ( letting it ride exactly like u must do for a bet like those at OLY and 5dimes ). There is no added risk if you don't plan on hedging. Besides, I have sometimes used interactives to hedge other bets made elsewhere - when I see the tide is turning against me during the telecast. So u could buy DL3 later, even if u played against him at OLY. I'd take the +138.

Glad to hear the lock-out problems have been sorted at WSEX, but it has been documented on a number of occasions here and elsewhere that people have frequently not been able to buy/sell contracts and when the ability to do so has been restored, the contract prices have changed.

My point was that in that situation, it may be better to get down on a good price that is available (+127 or +130) which is not that different to +138 in reality. It does not in any way stop anyone from taking advantage of the interactives throughout the day. I would have thought that it is inevitable that someone will charge from the pack even before DL3 gets into his round. So the price will drop on Love rather than rise at least for the first hour or two of his round. That provides a good opportunity to cover the outlay on the field by buying some Love contracts and letting the rest, either on Love or the field, ride.

I'm not arguing against WSEX interactives. They offer better values on outrights and enable plays to be hedged, but when there are problems with the system, it may be best to anchor a relevant price elsewhere when available. The line at Oly has gone, at Five Dimes it is down to +123 and on the WSEX interactives it is now down to +127 (56/44)

I hear ya Stanley. I was just trying to point out that getting shut out later is irrelevent to the comparison of +138 to +130 at the time. When you can get a better line, take advantage of it. Interactives were open all that time, so it is no different than the lines at other shops. At 56, it would be better to play OLY's +130, obviously.

The complaints on interactives, which I share, are when you buy or sell WITH THE PRECONCEIVED NOTION of selling or buying back during the telecast as the tourney unfolds. That has absolutely no relevance to comparing fixed price lines to the counterpart price of interactives at the same time. As I stated, you could just forget about buying back later and think of them as lines like any other shop has. Some guys treat them this way all of the time ( never trade during the game ) it really is no different. Not that 8 cents is huge or anything, but line shopping is critical to maximizing return. If you can nickel and dime better all season it makes a huge difference at the end of the year.

Tourny viewing has been delay here for motor racing event call Nashville 200. Since I saw a post several days ago bout golf being boring to several that liked this sort of sport I thought I'd watch it to see what the hoopla was in comparison. Was most similiar to viewing 2 buzzing bees going around in circles but as always ,being the optomist, I did find one thing in viewing it most enjoyable and that is when this guy jumped up and waved this white flag and said "only one lap to go."

I hear ya DTB. Formula 1 would be pretty almost as bad if it weren't the easiest sport to beat the bookies with

I don't know about Vijay, but it's pretty clear why Hoch is right up there with him in the putting stats
