Just quickly went through the ladder predicter!!

Very unexact science obviously!!...But I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out tbh!

It does "confirm" what I suspect (and what I suspect everyone suspects!) , that the top 5 look fairly solid...and the last 3 spots in the 8 are an absolute toss-up between 7 or 8 teams!

The 'good' news (for me!) is that I thought I was being conservative with my Doggies...and here they are with 9 wins and knocking on the door!

So....Value for long term bets??

Richmond for the wooden spoon @ 5.00
Kangaroos to make the 8 @ 3.25
Doggies to make the 8 @ 4.50

PAWA...Guessing you can fill us in a bit more about how you think the Kanga's will perform this year, but I'm feeling pretty good about the Dogs.
Vast improvements in fitness already, and arguably the best defensive coach going around, should (hopefully!) see a much more competative outfit this season.

I guess we'll know a lot more about what to expect after pre-season starts, but some of the value might disappear by then.

Richmond should be bundled out in the first round by Collingwood.
But both Dogs and Kanga's are both realistic chances to win which could dent their odds.

Like I said, extremely inexact here....Opinions gang?

Love Geelong to have a poor year, maybe miss the 8. Feel they played to there 100% potential last year similar to collingwood in 2003.

I think the Brad Otten signing will do them more harm than good, and could see Richmond becoming a better side w.out him over the next 3 years.

If Gehrig stays fit expect a big year from the saints and the lions will be top 4 and in the hunt come finals time.

Coll and Melb both miss out.

Think Carlton, wb or kangas make the finals- most likely Carlton.

Anyway thats my crystal ball for 2005.

You're top 8 looks pretty good to me christo. Pawa and I talked about where our teams would finish over a few quiet one's on the coast last week and figured about the same thing- kanga's and dons jostling around the bottom of the 8 or just outside with the dogs also there about's. Would push freo up a few more places with their home field advantage and i don't think brisbane finish in the top spot this year but they won't be far away you wouldn't think. Looking for another good year from the saints and cats also with the youth that drastically improved last year in both teams. With no NFL left bar the SB, looking forward to getting things going in here again for the new year.

the land of confusion
The AFL season is just over the horizon. Can't wait for the action to start.

I can't see Freo finishing that low Christo, with all their home games to prop them further up the ladder. They were dissappointing in '04 but expect them to rise again. Young side plus Carr returning from Port.

Can't see Brisbane finishing on top...they'll miss Lynch plenty!!! Probably 5-6th.

West Coast on the rise.

Melbourne due for their 'down' year perhaps!!Don't know if Collingwood can make the 8.

Our 3 teams look about right....your Bulldogs perhaps a little 'inflated' at 11th!! My Roos are value to scrape into the 8. Carlton 'No Chance'.

I've never been one to wait a full season for my $ return. Perhaps I'll have a dabble this year.

Larry...I think your being a bit harsh on the Cats. They are a pretty determined young side. Very good defensively, just need a little more forward firepower. They finish top 6 for sure IMO.
Where in OZ are you from? Good to have you on board.

Looking for a 'doggy' pre-season comp to make some early $$.

Checking out the team sites for updates on their pre-season programs.

Not long to go now. :yup

From Melbourne mate, maybe a bit harsh on Geelong but i really dont think they are the real deal. They will miss Graham's leadership alot

Melbourne too Larry, in Bundoora behind La Trobe Uni. Christo is down in Tassie while Bomber is a Brisbane lad that lives over in Texas, US.

Who do you follow? so we can read in to any 'bias' support!!

Larry, good to have someone else on board. Pawa, christo, and myself have been here for a couple of years now and it's good to see someone else get in to the action. I'm from brisbane but currently live in the states. Big bombers fan! Welcome aboard mate and hopefully we can have a profitable season. Early guess has me thinking your a blues supporter??

im a brizzy supporter guys- used to go for the roys and followed them up north. I think they will fin top 4 and be there abouts but cant see them winning the flag this year. They will need a year or 2 to get structure back.

Re:Geelong- i just feel they played to there absolute max, had a very good year with injury except for james kelly and will miss graham. I also feel that ottens isnt the knight in shining armour they think he is. I could be way off but thats just my opinion.

THey did play very well against brisbane in the prelim and could have won but not to be.

I cant look past port for the flag

Last season we had a crack at who would win the premiership and the wooden spoon. Last year I chose Brisbane and Richmond but this year I'm going to mix it up a bit and say Port and Hawthorn at a very early look. You guys have any early thoughts??

Used to be a Roy Boy myself Larry!

Just couldn't follow them to Brisbane....took a couple of players I didn't agree with, left a couple I wanted to go...Just didn't feel the same watching 4 boys running around being called the Lions :(

Long story short, took the Doggies to win the flag @ 66/1 in '97 (??...the year they got knocked out by Adelaide by a kick anyway :cursin: ), and have been pretty close to them ever since.

I've never been one for a long-term bet either PAWA...Just thought I'd throw up a few thoughts...Not sure if I'll bother...Just wondering how pre-season might affect the markets?

Yeah it certainly hurt didnt it mr christo, was hard to follow but i have family who played for the roys and were inducted into the Brisbane/Fitzroy Hall of fame so i felt that was a good enough gesture to get my support.

That was badluck re the doggies in 97, they prob would have won the flag that year if they had have won that match. Would have beaten st kilda on their day

Hey...nice!!

Losing that game wasn't the worst of it either, Larry...also had Chris Crant @ 25/1 to win the Brownlow....and he did...Just it didn't count! :cursin: :cursin:

Anyway...definately looking forward to your input during the year. :toast:

Pawa, christo?? You guys want to have a small side wager between our 3 respective teams this year? They look to match up pretty evenly for the upcoming season so was curious to know if either of you would like to do something here. Top team on the ladder after round 22, including % if teams are tied. Any interest? Larry, would love to count you in but can't see brisbane finishing anywhere near our 3. For now, the lions are too much for the 3 of our teams to handle.

What do you guys think about an item from our club's clothing line for example?? EG. If Pawa wins, he may recieve a shirt from me and a hat from christo?? Let's know what you guys think here. BTW, Black, if you feel your tigers are a shot here, feel free to jump in mate! LOL!

I was thinking more along the lines of....If my Kangaroos finish higher than your Bombers, then you can shout me a trip over to Texas (once your new job kicks in of course). If your mob finish higher...then I'll shout you a trip to Melbourne...from Brisbane!!!! :mj07:

Nahh...team wear is fine with me Mark. But it sounds like Christo isn't too confident though!! :poke
