Season proper starts about the 26th of march for memory. Pre-season starts in a couple of weeks I think. OK paw, I slept on it and depending how my money situation goes with my new job, will determine if I'm able to spot you the ticket. Will keep you informed mate.

Christo

Did you see your Bulldogs get rolled by the Aboriginal Allstars on Saturday night?

A few of the North boys ripped it up with Wells getting the Best on Ground Medal.

Eade might have his work cut out for him this season! Mind you no team has beaten the combined squad over the last 3 years.

It seems that they should have won by alot more judging by the scoreline in the second half.

Hey guys...not hiding from anything (just yet!)....

...Just taking a little while for the brain to remember to scroll down to OTW 'cause footy is on the way! :D

Yep. Sounds like a plan....clothing sounds like a great idea. I'm in, and we still have plenty of time to work out the details.

Didn't se the game Saturday night, but apparently the disposal skills were as poor as ever....but the defense and tackling were certainly an improvement, so all might not be lost!...Mind you, that was a fair team the All-Stars ran out with!!

Pretty sure the Wizzer Cup starts next weekend?....Remember last year that the betting lines for the individual games were put up as close as an hour before kick-off, so we better be on the ball (us Aussies ;)), and bomber, well, you better load up on the coffee and sudafed!

Starts 18th:

Week One
Friday, 18 February Venue Time
6. Collingwood v Richmond Telstra Dome 7.40pm
5. Fremantle v West Coast Subiaco 7.40pm

Saturday, 19 February Venue Time
2. Western Bulldogs v Sydney Telstra Dome (Double-Header) 2:40pm
1. Hawthorn v St Kilda Telstra Dome (Double-Header) 6:10pm
3. Brisbane v Melbourne Cazaly Stadium 7:40pm

Sunday, 20 February Venue Time
7. Kangaroos v Geelong Manuka Oval 2:40pm
4. Carlton v Essendon Telstra Dome 5:10pm
8. Adelaide v Port Adelaide AAMI Stadium 7:10pm

Doggies jump straight into the deep end Rd. 1 of the reg season....MCG v. Collingwood on Easter Monday! :scared:

Glad to hear back from you christo. I know what you're saying about forgetting to scroll down to the 'OTW' column when the NFL is the primary place to gamble at the moment- well, until yesterday anyway! OK, so the 3 of us are in for the clothing comp between our 3 clubs. Good stuff! Can't wait until they meet each other during the season as there is going to be plenty said about it in the week leading up to the game.

Pawa, BTW, the job is taking it out of me so far as it is a high stress job where they pound you until you make enough sales. Need some footy to get going to take my mind of it a little.

Hi Guys,

It's been a long time since I have posted ? but now that I have more spare time I am looking forward to getting back into it for the upcoming AFL season.

The past couple of footy seasons I have basically stopped betting on Rugby Union and Rugby League ? and concentrated just on AFL ? so hopefully I can contribute some positive comments to the forum.

I am still crunching numbers for the upcoming season but here are a few initial thoughts:

Port Adelaide and Brisbane still have very strong teams and providing they do not suffer huge injuries should be in the Top 4 again.

West Coast I think are the big improvers this year with a genuine chance to finish top of the ladder after the regular season ? some real value at $6.00 to be the highest finishing interstate team.

St Kilda should continue their natural improvement and I expect them to make up the Top 4.

Melbourne are not the most consistent team in recent years - but I think Neale Daniher has developed this side to a point where they are now balanced enough to produce good performances on a weekly basis (they did it for a good portion of last season) ? I reckon they finish somewhere around 5th or 6th which makes them slightly overpriced at $1.80 to make the Top 8.

Geelong might struggle to reproduce their 2004 season ? as Larry said everything went their way last season and I am not sure they have a roster which can sustain injuries ? I still think they are good enough to make the Top 8 but would not be shocked if they missed out.

The next part of the ladder does get very tricky ? I would lean towards Collingwood and Fremantle as the best of the rest ? with Sydney and Essendon not far behind.

As for the remaining teams ? I am sure as always 1 or 2 of them will play better than expectation but personally I can?t see where this will come from ? maybe Adelaide ??

I agree with MrChristo about Richmond - $5.00 for the wooden spoon is very tempting ? Terry Wallace will turn this team around but not this year.

Can?t forget the Brownlow Medal either ? I never thought the day would come where I would say there is value in a previous years winner ? but I can see Chris Judd just continuing to get votes even if he gets plenty of attention ? especially if the West Coast win as many games as I expect ? he could easily be into $4.00 or $5.00 by mid season so I might have a dabble at the $9.00 now.

Well look who the cat dragged in!!! :scared

MJ's original AFL poster, the one and only Cartman88!!

It's been a long time mate. I hope you have been doing well since your sudden departure a couple years back.

For those that don't know of or remember Cartman88, he used to put in heaps here in AFL threads and did alright for himself along the way. Expect him to bring along some great insight and thoughts during the AFL season ahead.

Good to hear from you again mate. :toast:

As far as the Brownlow goes, I have jumped on my boy Wells @ 80/1 this morning after seeing him come in elsewhere from 60 to 30s over the weekend due to his preseason form in the various practice matches. Yeah a 'homer' bet I guess, but this kid could really cut loose this season and I'm getting on early in case he does!! The kid is a bit of a freak. His odds will only shorten when we tear Geelong apart up in Canberra this up coming Saturday. :D

Hey Pawa.

Things have been going fine the past couple of years - just too busy to post - had a really solid year in 2003 but lucky to break even in 2004 (thanks mainly to Geelong who I just kept underestimating).

Funny you mention Daniel Wells for the Brownlow - I had him in my top 4 for best value when I had a glance through the market a few weeks ago - also give sneaky hopes to Nick Stevens at $61 and Josh Francou at $81 - but will probably just stick with Chris Judd who after shopping around is available at $11.

2005....YEAR OF THE TIGERS!!!

j/k guys, although I don't think they win the prestigous Wooden Spoon. As long as Essendon doesn't make the top 8, I'll be just fine.

PAWA...I don't make as much $$$ as Bomber does, and I can't go through a whole season with the express having a bad start. Bomber doesn't talk well about you but I still have alot of faith in you...so, lets jump out of the station quick and have a great year.

Mr. C...you are really from the states aren't you? I have a good feeling about you.

Damn I'm ready for the season to start, you damn foreigners have got me interested in this season. GO SAINTS (they are gonna win it all, just include me in the apparel bet guys)

Black, nice to see you take out your 'valentine' frustration in this forum. BTW, pawa and I go way back and he knows just how much faith I have in his system and who will be sitting up front with him in 5 weeks! It looks like we're going to have to relegate you from carriage to cargo my friend. The new and improved systems have got me fired up paw and now that I have sufficient funds to work with, I could be a permanent starter this season. May also find myself watching a bombers game live in Melbourne come mid-year if certain things don't improve over here. Decisions, decisions!

Gentlemen from the great Australia, let me translate this for you guys since Coops didn't describe it vividly...

"My F'ing live in girlfriend pissed me off again telling me I had a small weiner, and now I am thinking about moving back home to show her who is boss."

On point Coops...SNAP! lol

You may be on to something in regard to the girlfriend, but in regard to the 'pecker' comment, no such issues mate. That said, an Essendon win gets me harder than my Mrs could ever imagine.

Na. No real hope of that, I'm afraid, bomber.....Her 20 yo. sister, however, is a raving lesbian/bisexual...well, just sex mad really! I'm sure if you played your cards right there, there could certainly be some action.

She actually went over to Melbourne a couple of weeks ago, went into a strip club, whacked the pay check on the table and said, "Dance until that runs out!" :mj07:

ok, so that's not entirely true, but from what se was saying it isn't far wrong! :grouphug:
