After looking in trouble at the halfway stage things didn't turn out too bad in the end.

In the outrights Lowery grabbed 2nd Parnevik 19th and Pernice 37th.

I had just one matchup which saw Baird lose to Watts, but the 72 hole 3-ball was a winner after a good final round by Sutherland.

DOGS,
Camelot did have 11 matchups today, when I logged on at about 9:30amEST. Didn't see any at 5dimes all weekend, as you said. I imagine they are all gearing up for foots ( who isn't? ) and the lack of matchup diversity was evident. Large 3 unit Place-ONLY on Lowery +750 really made my week. I had given it up after his double-triple end Saturday, then he comes back to easily nail it by finishing 2nd. YES! Estes bogey at 18 cost me 4 different matchups tho, can't win em all!

Since I bet futures so rarely, and PLACE is new to me this yr ( whether e/w or plain PLACE ), refresh my memory. Does it matter if you get a tie for 3rd,4th, or even 5th? Do they "dead heat" split you on them? I have only played them at OLY, SIA, and betinternet and I can't find their explanation of ties. The only two I cashed were clear of ties. TIA!

Buck Oly is the only one that I have found that pays full odds on ties.Had a little question on that a couple of weeks ago as someone stated they split the tie payoff on them there but they did not split mine and we had same player. If your wager was @ Oly let us know if they did indeed divvy it or pay full odds.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Failed to answer your question.sorry.
If a book pays 4 places they will divvy ties for 4th place only, not 1st,2nd or 3rd place finishes. Same if they pay 5 places, only divvy ties for 5th place

DOGS,
It was at OLY this time and Lowery finished 2nd alone so there was no question. I was just curious if he had finished in an 8-way tie for 3rd would the payout get diluted by the "dead heat" rule? From your response, it sounds like they only use it for those that tie for the "final" spot that pays, 4th or 5th, depending on the out. If OLY doesn't do this then that's good to know.

The "dead heat" for the last seems inconsistent to me, and I think ANY future bet is hard enough to win w/o diluting the payout on a tie. A twenty way tie for fourth is still TOP4. Just another reason to not like futures I guess.

I do tend to play them more this time of year as the field's strength gets spotty and the viable contender pool is shrunk quite a bit. I do wish all these outs would allow PLACE-ONLY, as I feel like the WIN portion of e/w is awful tough to cash on - JMHO. I tend to want win-only or place-only, not both!

GL,
and thanks!

Thats diluting, not deluding.

Hopefully not much deluding going on here

don't know anywhere where you can't bet win only for golf...

some place that only do matchups of course

its a strange one - if some wiseguys like each way - and books will offer it, but not place only - not sure why? More people like going for the big hit perhaps?

AV2, I was being delude-tional!
I obviously meant PLACE-ONLY as in not W&P, a.k.a. e/w! I have never seen a book that ONLY offers PLACE betting, but many don't have PLACE alone, you must bet WIN as well. It's like a racetrack only offering WIN or ATB, not SHOW or PLACE alone.

I know SIA and your place, OLY, offer place betting alone, and I think I've seen it at a few other places, but I can't recall where. Islandcasino used to offer it years ago, but I don't use them anymore. Which have it w/o having to play WIN also?

TIA

Final update: 3-3-0 and -2.75 units

A much better weekend, but still a loss on the matchups as the 3-unit play loses and the 2-unit plays are split. Carter beat Chamblee by eight shots and Edwards won the event on the way to beating Sabbatini by fourteen shots, but Choi lost to Gossett by eight.

Update on outright plays: 1-2 and +1.00 units

Great comeback from Lowery after his opening 73 to finish 2nd

Covered some of the losses from the heavily-backed matchups and the poor performances from the other outright picks. Parnevik finished 19th and Howell 43rd.
