Flu is making a comeback in US after an unusual year off
ABC News ^

U.S. flu season has arrived on schedule after taking a year off, with flu hospitalizations rising and two child deaths reported.

Last year's flu season was the lowest on record, likely because COVID-19 measures ? school closures, distancing, masks and canceled travel ? prevented the spread of influenza, or because the coronavirus somehow pushed aside other viruses.

During last year's unusually light flu season, one child died. In contrast, 199 children died from flu two years ago, and 144 the year before

Sure, anybody dumb enough to believe ABC?

So, it?s good that there are some flu cases this year. That means that the covid strain we have now isn?t as powerful (deadly). Covid is a super-virus. The viruses compete for the same ?molecular? space. Covid is a ?bully?, and takes all the space and boots out weaker viruses.

One year ago when I was slogging it out in the COVID trenches and watching people die at work every day, I personally took care of hundreds of covid+ patients. Every single one of them was also tested for the flu, and they were all negative. That?s Bc the covid strain then was far more powerful than the current Omicron.

Flu is terrible as well, but most people can fight off flu far better than they could the January 2021 Covid-19 strain.

With the current Omicron, I am seeing lethargy, malaise, anorexia, fevers, and lastly supplemental Oxygen requirements. People are still plenty sick, and some still die. It?s still real, and it is still bad; it?s just not as bad.

700k+ cases yesterday. Thanks, Trump. Thanks, skulniks.

Please, all of you on the anti-jab side, do not equate people who feel like taking the vaccine is a good idea with also being a Biden supporter. Many of us think he?s a complete and total demented moron. At least he?s not a dangerous fool like Trump.

Lastly, please remember that many people have already died from covid. They can?t die again this year. That has to be taken into account as well.

Wanted some of your thoughts because you have worked in covid units and you nurses that do that should be highly commended. A nurse I know was traveling on contracted Covid in Oklahoma and she had both vaccinations and ended up on the vent for a month but she did pull through.

Do you see nurses who work with Covid refuse the vaccination or is it required? Just asking because I think the nurses who refuse the vaccination probably are doing do because of political affiliation or have not worked with covid or am I off base?

Also, I don't consider nurses who do not work with Covid patients heroes.

Are you saying this is made up by ABC? I mean the hospital data can pretty much prove these claims

BP: I'll chime in with an anecdote about Kentucky nursing requirements. I heard a guy call into Dave Ramsey and say he was preparing to quit his nursing job because his company was mandating the vaccine for workers. He was talking about looking into other outfits that didn't require it, so it sounds like it's all based on the company's rules.

I can't imagine giving up my job because of a shot.
