NOPE

So do you think think the proper response is to be upset at Kaepernick and make disparaging remarks about him and question his patriotism and sense of loyalty? Should we all be so "offended" by his actions that we should arbitrarily dismiss the issue he is trying to increase awareness of? Are we all so perfectly patriotic that we hold ourselves as well as all those around us to equal standards?
I stand, clap, and cheer loudly throughout the playing of the national anthem at every Blackhawks game I attend in Chicago. I marvel at the intensity of Jim Cornelison's booming tenor and the sense of community, comraderie, and shared excitement I get from it that always makes me swell a bit with pride. It's not the iconic Indian head sweater, or the banners that make me a fan of the team.
I'm not an expert on patriotism or what constitutes a good loyal citizen. I have no pressing need to condemn the guy that is exercising his own constitutional rights and freedom of expression. I definitely don't think I'm in any position to dictate right and wrong and vilify a guy that's simply trying to raise awareness of a pressing social issue.
