I got a "total bullshit" traffic ticket (red light violation), and pleaded "not guilty". I had my court date, showed up and bam, got the fine reduced to almost nothing, plus nothing on driving record/insurance/etc/etc.
Now I don't know how it works in the USA, but here in Canada, if you show up, you are almost guaranteed to get your fine reduced or have the ticket completely voided.
Most of the time they know it is just a "cash grab/scam/racket" and they don't want to "clog the court" will some bullshit "barely speeding" or "not coming to complete stop" garbage. The judges don't want to waste their time with these crap tickets. You show up to court some lawyer/court officer/whatever comes up to you and just offers you the chance to plead guilty and avoid a trial. That is what happened to me, a lawyer from the Province literally walked up to me in the back of the court with my file in her hand and said "Do you want a reduced fine or proceed to trail?" I said how much are you reducing the fine and what about my license?" She said that she'd reduce the fine by 80 percent and no points would be deducted from my license (nothing shows up on my driving record). I said ok fine, let's do it. It was that easy, took about ten minutes and I was out the door.
My recommendation, if you get one of those "bullshit tickets from a Police Officer" ya know the ones where you are like "come on man really!". Plead "not guilty" get your court date, show up, and most likely good things will happen. I myself always fight any ticket I receive, every single time it works out in my favor. In fact one time the Police Officer didn't even show up, and my speeding violation was thrown out on the spot.
So any Madjackers ever show up in traffic court? If so, did it work out for you?
