Yeah sure

Yeah sure

Tenzing, you seem to lack all sense of humor and understanding of sarcasm through winking emoticons. Yes, I'm a democrat. I'm as left as you want me to be. Honestly, whatever gets me as far away from you as possible I will gladly accept.

It's not your fault.

We all know that personal attacks are a valid replacement for civil discourse, right?

Tell us about your "kick ball exploits". What a jackass.

Smurph is the kickball player, not me.

And, you should know all about attacks replacing civil discourse.

Please find any post where I have personally attacked you or anyone else. I am about as reasoned and level headed a poster as you're going to find. If you can prove otherwise I will gladly leave the site, although people will miss me in the college bball forum next year as I provided great fade material from January on.

I was told months ago that this forum would eventually frustrate me to no end. Consider that accomplished.

ASSended Mage?

Methinks 'ol Ten may have been the last guy picked on his schoolyard kickball team. But that's just a guess...

Toledo, you have to admit that you've gotten a bit out of control a few times on here. That said, your absence would be felt greatly if you departed. Just wait til Jack bans you - it's only a matter of time considering your unruly behaviour.:142smilie

...and seek mental help. None of your posts have been even close to on-topic, and you have some sort of need to belittle people over the net. I won't miss you.

This isn't a rant forum. Just because it seems to happen day in,and day out, doesn't mean people want this to degenerate into a mud fest.

If a web site gets to you, it's because of your need to slough off feelings onto it. Web sites are inanimate, and can't do you no harm. Remember that.

OK, and thanks for asking. I'm sure everybody saw the report of our stunning 7-6 upset over 'That's What She Said' Monday night. I was honored to be the guy who got score the winning run. It was a tremendous rush.

This paves the way for what is sure to be a spirited contest next Monday against 'Surly Pirates'. The Pirates lost their first match 2 nights ago and are only ahead of us by 1/2 game now. There is some drama with this matchup because the Pirates are actually a spinoff of last year's Spaceball One team. Apparently there were some disagreements in the direction the club was going, so a few Spaceballers formed the Pirates. Based on early season scores, it appeared that the Pirates took most of the experienced talent with them. But the new rookie-filled (hyphen) Spaceball team has been scrappy and is beginning to show signs of learning and experience.

Now I don't care much about last season's drama since I wasn't part of the team. There are, however, a few old softball teamates on the Pirates squad - so I will have some heightened pride going into the showdown. I even joined the Pirates in flip-cup one night. ...Wow, they are NOT good at flip-cup. Spaceball would would destroy the Pirates at flip-cup.

7:30, Field 4. Don't park on De la Guerra Street - as it appears they are locking those gates. Just park in the normal lot and walk across the basketball courts.

Toledo, would you really let Tenzing the ascended halfwit get to you? Shame on you.

Murph, I don't wanna talk trash, but I am putting together a kickball team that is going to be coming to your town soon. And we mean business.

Looks like you have 2 leagues in the Jax area:

Atlantic Division - St. Nicholas Park
2270 Spring Park Rd

Cobrai Kai won regular season, but REEB won the championship. Other notable teams include "Balls Deep", "Cunning Stunts", and of course "Steven Seagal's Overinflated Balls".

St Johns Division - Games played at Abess Park (off of Girvin & Atlantic Blvd)

I don't see any info on who is that league. You will have to email or call them.

Jabber,

Not at all. I am pretty sure he wont find me attacking anyone in any of my posts (well, maybe some ad hominen attacks on coaches whose decisions cost me $$$, but those dont count, right?). So I wont have to follow through on leaving. I have way too much fun here, so i would end up welching on the guanantee anyway. :SIB Hopefully, though, he is wasting his night looking through all my posts. In my heart, I hope to end up as his worst ranked poster. So look out Smurph, i am coming at you.

Then, I will move on to kickball.

Anyway,,, ...both Hobbes and Kirk address the question of human nature--whether it is fundamentally good or fundamentally bad, and whether or not it can be improved (via education or what-have-you).

Whichever you believe, they claim, dictates whether or not you are conservative or liberal. This is how this split originated and remains a factor today, at least in academic circles.

So...
good or bad?
improvable or static?

I'd say that democracy isn't really compatible with the latter.

enjoy the ping-pong

For starters, yes, there are conservatives up here in Canada.

Just curious if anyone has read this book. It's apparently often used in university political science courses, at least in the U.S. Often cited in other more contemporary works in political science as well. From 1953, it traces the origins of conservative political thought from Thomas Hobbes' Leviathan (curious if anyone has read that, too) up through the thought of Edmund Burke and up to Kirk's own period.

I'm wondering if this is a worthwhile read. I've read much about it, but not the original.

Extrapolater - yes, that book is worth reading.

conservatism, according to Kirk, is not an ideology, it's a disposition - a way of respecting things by trying to understand and to appreciate them, rather than assuming they can be easily reordered without 'unintentional consequences' that are often disastrous or murderous.

Thanks.
I think that makes two decent responses out of about, say, thirty.

Guess this is a gambling forum.
Best I pursue other interests in more appropriate venues.
Silly me.

And I've heard such great things about your eductation system, too. Donut make sense.

It's very streaky around here. Sometimes people are burned out of actually making serious discussion because it's so often a fruitless pursuit. Bear with the likes of me. I will come around again to some extent eventually.

Smoke up, Johnny.
