I have a near irrational hatred for that airline, but on the day I want to go to Vegas they have the only nonstop flight so I'm considering it. The problem is there will be four in my group and we will want to/need to sit together and with the cattle call boarding process Southwest uses that is never a guarantee.

If you pay the extra $15 per ticket, which I would gladly do, it looks like you get automatically checked in 36 hours before flight as opposed to checking in manually 24 hours before. The reviews on this are all over the board so I'm wondering if any of you have experience doing this?

My other option is $100 more for Delta Comfort seats but it's a connecting flight with a limited delay:

4:25 nonstop on Southwest playing seat assignment roulette
6:03 on Delta with more comfortable assigned seats, but changing planes once

Thoughts?

I would definitely choose Southwest non stop, I have flown with them many of times, but have not ever paid for the early check. Good luck on whatever you decide.

I always use SWA to Vegas because my only other option for non stop is Allegiant and I'm done with them.

I always pay the extra $15 each way for the earlybird checkin. I have always gotten boarding in the A zone and you won't have any problem seating 4 together from the A boarding zone. You might have to sit farther in the back but you won't have any problem if you're A30 or higher.

Another option I use probably half the time is buying the upgrade when you check your bags. That's $40 extra but it usually gets you in the first 15 to board.

And the Delta Comfort seats aren't all that. But they are Comfort compared to their economy seating. :00x4

NFL Week 1. Hoping to see sixfive and Smurphy that week too.

No doubt, I've sat in them before and they aren't first class by any means, but they get you on the plane first and get you towards the front of the plane which I like because these day it seems everyone turns into a complete animal when they get on a plane.

Sitting up front would be important this time as the layover is only 30 minutes so we need off the plane as quick as possible to make the connection.

So. Cal
First one on saves 4 seats together, not rocket science.
Saved 18 seats one time as only A group boarder

Dont like sw for cross county flights but under 2 hours or so usually cheapest and quickest.
