First Golf Post

First Golf Post

I will join in with the "on the links" crew this year. Will most likely be backing some longshots who I feel have a chance each week with small plays.

Have played/competed in golf since I was 12. Love to follow and keep up with the tour. Actually have two friends (fraternity brothers) out on the big tour this year. Will be in my third year of playing Fantasy Golf and that really keeps me on top of things, so why not throw a few bets out??

Took these outrights today at my only out, so these lines are probably pretty poor (no line shopping for me), but what the hell.

0.1 units on Rollins @ 75-1 (win only)- Really like his game and he has had a history of playing very well at the start of the season. This being his first event of the year, I am hoping he once again gets out of the gates quickly.

0.1 units on J.L. Lewis @75-1 (win only)- This guy has been awfully solid since late last year and looks to be in good form early this season as well. Worth a shot.

0.1 units on Kevin Sutherland @ 50-1 (win only)- Lots of course history, is a Californian, top 25 in 4 of last 5 years. Nice form so far this year. Can't pass this one up, maybe he will break through.

0.1 units on Scott McCarron @ 50-1 (win-only)- Another Californian with lots of course history. He has always had the length, but accuracy has been a problem. Looking at the stats from this year, it looks as though he has improved on this area. Finished 12th here one year and that year his accuracy stats resembled what he is producing this year. Think he has a nice chance this week if he gets the putter going.

First round matchups:

0.7 units on McCarron -110 over Choi

0.8 units on Triplett +105 over Howell III

Good Luck to All,

Playing this one on the basis of He Hate Me's comment that Poppy Hills gets no roll. If that is truly the case, this has to put Loren Roberts at such a large disadvantage that his putter may not be able to save him today. Based on yesterday's stats, anyway, Rocco had less putts than the Boss 'o the Moss. Rocco is not the longest hitter by any means, but he can still move it out there alot farther than Loren. Let's see if my theory holds up.

2nd Round Play:

0.8 units on Rocco Mediate -0.5 +105 over Loren Roberts

2nd round at 5 dimes:

Pampling -120 over Faxon

IX-Bender your inquiry got me to do a little checking. Did some comparison between the two and found that Pampling historically does a much better job of salvaging some pride after a bad 1st round than Faxon does. Add the fact that Pampling has had some success this year so far and is rated much higher on Stan's compatability charts makes this a play for me.

OK, I am done with matchups for this tournament. I obviously don't have a good read on these this week. I will just let my outrights ride and hope K. Suth or McCarron can somehow win this thing. Otherwise, I am done with this tournament. Will refresh myself with a nice weekend of college basketball action and come back to try the golf betting again next week.

4th round at pinnacle

Singh -137 over Mickelson

see no reason to get off Singh now. Expect him to stay hot/steady while Mick could implode trying to make up strokes.

I was wrong about Phil, he fell down and picked himself up. Wier climbed back into the match and gave it back to the rocks.

Matchups - Final update: 5-0-0; +9.00 units

Pampling/Baddeley WON by 2
Couples/Gogel WON by 7
Singh/Mickelson WON by 4
Sutherland/Sabbatini WON by 5
Parnevik/Gronberg WON by 8

First sweep of the PGA Tour season and most welcome after struggling in previous weeks. Need a few more if we're going to get out of this hole!

Outrights - Final update: 1-2; -2.00 units

Weir 4th
Kelly 35th
Triplett 14th

Small loss on the outrights. Weir took hit his ball on the water on the last hole to record a seven and it meant a share of 4th place and the loss of 0.5 units, while Triplett did get to 4th early in the final round and a potential 21 units profit, but faltered badly on the back nine.
