I joined MJs awhile back to post tennis stuff, my favorite stuff. Had some great years, spec. while Rafa was making his move and further back when Federer was making his (Biggest play I ever made in any sport was him vs. Fulla PooPoo awhile back in the U.S. Open and Fed. was something like -160). I couldn't believe my eyes when I watched him (real close-like) in his two previous matches during that tourney. He came off the court looking better than he did coming into the court - not a wrinkle or drop of sweet on the super clean outfit was wearing, not a strand of hair out of place, GLIDED around that court like a champion ice skater and looked like he didn't even warm up yet afiter anilhilating his oponents. Ninety percent of the bankeroo went on that guy in the final and I'm a conservative player.

I'm pretty familiar with most players so I don't go by stats that much; just take a second look at how they've done RECENTLY. . I mostly go by what I SEE  going on out there and that has worked good in the past. Been coming out of tourneys about even lately and thinking I may get the ball rolling again.

OK, nuff of the intro.. now to the MEAT n Tatoes..

Thoughts from events already played IMO:

Rafa: Still not the Rafa I used to know. Would LUV to see him pull this thing out, but he's gonna have to do much better. And that just might happen - "Decent Chance".

Roddick: Hard luck guy. All too often - he plays a winning game (ESP. in very late rounds of majors) and somehow the guy on the other side of the net starts playing "out of his mind". Sheesh. Really something. I'd give him a ->"Very silm chance".

Murray: Cool customer (the NEW Murray) looks exactly the same as the last time I followed him (2008-2009). Hard to gauge this guy, looks like he's half asleep out there, but LOOK where the ball he hits goes.

Federer: Really have to see how he's doing? I don't think we need the answer to that question - HUGE CHANCE.

Del Potro: I don't sink so.

DeJoka: Is he over his breathing/stamina problems? If not - NO CHANCE. If so - it all depends on who is on the other side of the net in the Final.

Women's side

Feel really good about this, BUT can't seperate these two I got pegged to win it ALL... Clisters or Henin.

Today ( I usually put two together for 2 teamers. Gilbus is a single, reg. play)

Gilbus -140

Korolev -320

Cristea -300

Somebody picked Gilbus/Monaco OVER (whatever the no. is, somting like 38) and I checked that one out cause I was thinking (only) the same thing. Hmm.. ------- - -> Yepper, I'll be on that play also.

Good Luck, MJ tennis fans.

Great stuff
welcome aboard

I gotta say, I doubted Henin could do it, but then I saw her play last night and she was awesome. Didn't miss a step, in my eyes.

She is a threat here for sure.

I agree

I agree

Thanks for repying so soon, Ghost Kid.

That little beauty (HA HAH) is a little TIGER, GK. One thing that I think believers in her have as an advantage is that - she is in Serena's head. BIG TIME. And there are a lot of knowledgeable tennis folks that like Serena's chances in this tourney too.

Don't remember the tourney but it was one of Henin's last ones. She was playing Serena. Now, I can remember something that happened during play as if it happened yestreday - the camerman timed it PERFECTLY - he got the camera on Serena while she was receiving serve and she CLEARLY said to herself..." You little bitch". Reading her lips, there is NO question that's what she said. She KNOWS that Henin can beat her.

Only problem I see for Henin is Clisters. Latter is much better prepared for this tourney. But it is sooo tough to go against that "Tigress".

While I'm here...

There's a typo in my "Todays' part above. I think people know who I picked.. but thats.

Sorana Cirstea -280 (vs. Olivia Rogowska +240)

Also adding:

Blake/Clement : OVER 38 1/2 : I got Clement figured as a ALL DAY player. I kinda like his chances and was thinking about the +4 1/2 bit, but not quite enough to pull the trigger and I think the OVER is the better play in this one.

Good Luck, GK and enjoy the tourney tonight.

Note: New tennis poster have to pay kickserv 5 dollars per post...so ya may want to limit your plays:142smilie

Also.....my backhand was amazing.....just amazing. Ok well perhaps not amazing, but good. Ok fine so it was pretty bad.

Funny how things work, kegray makes fun of my backhand.....I played Davydenko and split a room with him back in the day. Yet he didn't make fun of my backhand. Jump forward a number of years and now I am betting on Davydenko to win the Aussy Open:scared

Funny how life works outkurby

Sheesh..

Sheesh..

er.. GREAT STUFF guys.

I guess it's pretty dang cold outside in Canada these days. I used to get bored as hell too when I was up north.

The good news is that -> No charge for my Blake/Clement OVER pick :mj07:

Almost every match I checked went OVER cept that one :soapbox:

Hate to change the subject.. but, Ghost Kid, you got any tennis ideas? If you start a thread, I'll check it out if ya don't put it here.

Tuesday plays

Tuesday plays

Not finding much for today, when I can't come up with anything - I DON'T post.

Thanks to a resident "sharpie" around here, I see that I didn't include Davydenko in my contenders list. I shouldn't have, I do agree that he is definitely in the mix. To me, HE is the Henin on the men's side. You know, chomping at the bit to get on them courts, runs like the wind, and hits even harder A REAL pit bull. But do I like his chances to take it all?.... well, it's just to tough for me to come up with a single champion at this pt. on the mens side. Competitive as hell.

Today:

Benesova -123 (Dimes): She (ESP. comapared to her oponent) has been around the block ..er, make that COURT, many, many times and has plenty of Aussie experience. She's been on the courts vs. some really good ones and OK. Gotta make this one a small play though cause Chang shows a real fondness for the hard courts as evidenced with your recent U.S. Open accomplishments and the line on this, IMO is out of whack (think Bennie should be a bigger favorite and I don' t like that).

Henin +100: my prior post gives the reasons. She's 9-2 vs. Dementieva AND Henis looks like about 85-90 percent of her old self already. She's a little TIGER out there. Looks like the "Double Fault Demons" have finally left Dement. But, IF they raise their ugly heads (just might with her seeing her old nemisis on the other side of the net)... Faget About It.

Good luck everybody.

Sometimes PooPoo happens

Sometimes PooPoo happens

I know what you're saying, Keg.

I'm gonna REALLY try and catch ONE STINKIN O/U in the tourney.

Forget writing the nonsense (I got some old Cheech n Chong videos that I can watch anytime AND an UNOPENED VCR video of the "Best of Beavus and Butthead". You can get first shot at the latter before I put it on Ebay, Keg.)

Now, DID you REALLY play Davy to win it all? Think thats a "SS". Opps... that stands for Smart Sleeper. I'm always a little uneasy when I pick a heavy underDOG. Favorites RULE in this sport, but the HOT Dogs sure are yummy when you catch one of them little bastages.

I hardly ever take really heavy dogs, but I went way out on a limb and took ANDREV ("wins first set" AND wins the freakin MATCH (+1750 :scared )) vs. Federer. Dimes offers those kinda plays ya know. Don't expect many folks to believe that, but I DID post those plays on the forum that I came from before I re-started posting here. Sorry to say, I only had a half-a-stinkin unit on each play. :s2: If enough new faces stop in here - I'll post (cut n paste) what I wrote in my old forum or even tellyas (if it's ok with Jack) the name of the place or even put a link to it in( :nono: ) here. And that's if a couple of them really want me to.

Gonna start going over the tennis action for today now. Oh, one mo thang.... their's a player that has been, in the words of of a guy named Sosa ( who BTW is a cheater and plagurist cause he copied that phrase (highlighted) from the guy who PITCHED the Marlins to their first World Series title and I can't remember his name right now ... . maybe "Fernandez"?) -->"BERRY, BERRY good to me" in the past that I would LUV to see win this whole thing. I could have 10 units on another game and I'd still watch (and root for) HIM even if he's playing on one channel and the "units play" is on another. Well... looks to me like he's coming around (ya know, getting better n better).....I KNOW there's no need for me to write his name here.

LOOK OUT, Fed Man!:00hour

Good luck, Keg

P.S.. Ha HAH... I JUST remembered his name.. Livian.

Keep posting??

Keep posting??

Maybe I need to score my stuff to see if anybody is interested? I'm actually doing better (before today that is) at the other sport I play, college hoops, and I KNOW that forum has tons of viewers and replyers. Too muckin futch, in fact. I can't keep up in there. Pretty surprised that this Off the Wall "room" is pretty quiet.

I'll score my last set of picks here as the scores come in and please let me know if you're interested in these tennis plays or your comments.

(just going to paste them here and just edit each one with the results)
>
Weiner (EASY weiner)->Baggie/Ferrer OVER 39

Weiner (took him 5 sets though, whew)->Tommy Haas -145

No Results yet ->Monfils -225: Just based on Isner; HUGE bean stalk is ready to FALL. TIMBER

No Results yet ->
Ljubicic +125 : one mo time for me, Lubbie. Always liked this player and he's looking a little like the OLD Ivan. Givem a good lube job, Ivan.

Weiner =>Garbin +185: she might have one more in her. So pissed cause I had her written down yesterday and never got it in.

The best part is that I did get that O/U that I promised myself I'd finally find.

Oh, I never posted the results of that Cirstea (think thats how you spell her name). That result was a Losah, damnit :(

I'll keep posting if somebody's paying attention and post your thoughts about the matches if you do have something going on. I don't expect anybody to tail cause I'm "new" in this forum anyways but sho ain't new at playing tennis. I'd reply in other folks threads, but they post boxing, soccer, MMA (sheet, I don't even know what that stands for?) and stuff that I don't know enough about to reply in those posts. Sorry bout that.

No matter what I decide to do; just......

I just checked out Ghost Kid's boxing thread just to see if any of the boxers I used to follow (like 3-4 yrs. ago, than I gradually lost interest) were mentioned. There were a couple.

MAN, those guys sure do know them boxers alright. I just tiptoed out the back door. :)

trying something

trying something

Just mentioning that DeJoka is NOT on my contenders list anymore.

I've always picked just ONE player to win it all cause IF you throw in all them "sleepers" you just threw them precious (piecies of units units?) in the pooper scooper. :mj16:

Last MAJOR/Grand Slam sleeper was Becker? He's getting to be an old man now. I don't remember what the odds were on DeJoka (Aussie Open) when he won, maybe he was sleeper odds? Correct me if I"m wrong, but I thnk what I got written down here is right.

BUT, this year is looking different .... sooo competitive. And that means that the "sharks" (real contenders) just might knock EACH OTHER out. :scared

That COULD produce a sleeper. Thnking that sleeper just might be....

Davydenko (thanks, Keg for reminding me about this guy) or ..... ... . .
just maybe.....

Baggie :scared

Reasons for Bahgdatis?...

- well, he finally got serious and instead of focusing on the entertainment he used to provide; he's NOW focusing on his tennis tallent. No mo JOKES cause now he SMOKES!

- gave up the 10 gyros/day

- AND .. . no more ranvani (that's a Greek cake) or a few baklavas after each lamb with Orzos meal. YUM YUMMY. BTW, Keg may be "...the Greek (oddsmaker)".. but I'm a REAL Greek (father born in Athens; mother born in Italy). And I can tellya... them GWEEKS LUV to gamble.:mj07:

- no more plowing the girlfriend 3x a day (no comment on that one)

- his TENNIS IQ went from zero to wherever it is now. MUCH better now. Did he change coaches? Change girlfiend?? :)

Don't know what his odds are - FOR SURE you can't quote his opening odds cause the current ones on him must be quite a bit lower.

No results yet for my pending plays that I already posted above. I'll update here.

G.L.

Dang, almost forgot one the most important reasons for including Baggie on the LIST...

- IF he does reach the final, them Cretans are gonna be out there in FULL force. - singing, cheering, and dancing.

You know how to do them Gweek dances?... Go ahead, give it a try

Good luck the rest of the tourney. BTW, you can also catch glimpses of matches that you may have missied on You Tube.

All Right

All Right

Great to here that, Ghost Kid.

Monfils sure does look good. He'll be receiving some wicked serves, but I think he can get enough back to "run the Bean Stalk". And that's the last thing Isner EVER wants to do. I really shouldn't critisize him cause he is getting better and better and he's really a GREAT guy/youngun. Asfaras Monfils goes - he runs like the wind. He is a little fragile though. As long as those skinny arms/legs hold on - I think he should be fine. Hell, ever checkout the Fed Man (the "Preying Mantis") and he REALLY is the best ... cept when my main man is on his game.

Wish I could post some parlays I got going with tennis dudes/gals and college ballers. I think that may not be allowed though.
Good Luck, GK and thank you for letting me know somebody is reading this stuff (although I ENJOY READING it prob. more than anybody). :142smilie

Another result

Another result

SURE ENOUGH, going 3-0 and the 4th play happened to be MY bestest bet (4 not so stinkin units, usually play 2) AND a forum member plays along. I think Ghost Kid was gonna play Monfils whether I posted that play or not. But still. Same thing happens to me with the basket cases too.

Guess I just gotta do what works and ONLY play 2 units on each play. Kinda boring though. The parlays should provide enough excitement though and they have been doing pretty good. Oh, but NOT on Thurs. though - thanks to Louisville and Monfils.

Monfils -> LOSAH: The way that match was played sure didn't fit my scenario. Monfils gets a little behind in the first set and just gave it up. Maybe he figured he'd get Isner later in the match. Forget that - he went for the shot whenever he got the chance instead of running him, Isner served like a madman AND fired his second serve just as hard quite often and the freakin thing went in the court all too often. Can't fault Monfils for not being able to return those rockets. Short points for almost the whole match. Neither one was interested in chasing down shots (Monfils did a little of that, but Isner played it smart and just watched the winning shots Monfils made). These ain't excuses, just a summary of the match which wasn't much fun watching.

Lubbie - another LOSAH. In the words of Vince Lombardi,"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON AROUND HERE?"

Here's what I think about futures NOW...

Ladies side
Is this thing going Serena's way or what? UGH! Gotta be pissed how this thing is going. The player I liked a lot, Henin, is winning and winning some more even as a dog. AND Clisters is OUT too! If I knew her body could hold up - there is little question in my mind that she can/WOULD win this thing. But, she is struggling and wearing down big time cause of the tough matches in her draw. Can't wait forever to make my move sooo ...... . if I can get +250 or better, gimme 2 units worth.

Men's side
Here ya go (gonna get this when the props are re-posted)

Rafa 3 or 4 units (depends on the odds)gits da cash and the trophy.

Baggie (1 to 2 units)

Davy (1 or 2 units)

(I give NO CHANCE to Roddick and pretty close to that with Del Pothead. Just can't figure Murray out).

Chime in if anybody has any ideas or comments to keep me interested.

IF I continue to post, I'll start a new thread. Sorry bout that losah, Ghost Kid.
