BahamaMama...in your highest league do they allow 10 yr olds to play with the 11 and 12 year olds? Congrats on the win last night.
rrc, yup, they can start playing in the majors at age 9. but to do that, they have to have gone thru the stepping stone process to get there except in VERY rare cases. (age 7 - tee ball, age 8 - minor league, and then age 9 - eligible for majors if good enough.) once you are on a major league team, you stay with that same team until you are too old to play.
This was my sons first year of playing *player pitch* ball (he played a year of pack and rec *machine pitch* in Minnesota tho). The requirements for the draft into the majors were for anyone that was not only on a major league team was that they had to attend 2 of the 3 tryouts. we were still living in Minnesota at that time, and he was only able to be here for 1 of the days because of school. This year he was *Placed*, next year he'll be *Drafted*
and i'm still on a MAJOR POWER WHINE about the age change going into effect next year too!!!! He missed being able to play as a 10 yr. old again by being born about 32 hours too early....LOL
I'm dying to know how many of this world series bound NWLL team will be back next year as 12 yr. olds again. law of averages says 1/4 of them as they moved the birthdate back from August 1 to May 1.
