c`mon,c`mon...spy`s waiting for one of his lemmings to come to his rescue...

personally, regardless of political persuasion,i think anyone who deliberately worked to pump up fannie and freddie, while receiving huge cash donations from the same, should be looking over their political shoulders....

that makes sense...

we need investigations...this is much worse than enron...but,people went to jail for that...

i want to hear about investigations and the word "fraud" in coming weeks....

think it`ll happen?......don`t hold your breath...

(from my post "something to ponder")

"...We know that the debacle started with homeowner defaults on subprime mortgages and that it has now spread to other types of mortgages as foreclosures spread. We know that the unhealthy use of subprime mortgages started during the Clinton administration, as did the bundling and sale of these mortgages into mortgage-backed securities sold in the financial markets.

What has not been reported is that the Bush administration turned these acts of reckless lending into a national program of mortgage fraud. Soon after George W. Bush became president in 2001, meetings at the White House between Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan and administration officials became more frequent. According to mortgage industry insiders I have interviewed, direction soon began to come down from the banks to mortgage brokers to falsify borrower income information to allow them to qualify for loans that were otherwise out of reach.

Source: globalresearch.ca

The FBI has investigations underway to prosecute some of these cases of mortgage fraud. But they are not reaching above the brokers? level. The FBI is not gaining access?or at least they have not reported it publicly?to information about collusion at the political level or at the level of the banks which provided the leveraged funding for mortgage money.

But at the time the housing bubble was inflating, no one was watching. Note that when Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson testified before the Senate Banking Committee last week, he said he was shocked to learn when assuming office in June 2006 that no federal agency regulated mortgage lending. Rather this was an area left to the states.

What Paulson did not say was that when the states attempted to intervene, they were blocked by the Treasury Department?s Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. In a February 14 article in the Washington Post written before he resigned, New York governor Eliot Spitzer wrote:

"In 2003, during the height of the predatory lending crisis, the OCC invoked a clause from the 1863 National Bank Act to issue formal opinions preempting all state predatory lending laws, thereby rendering them inoperative. The OCC also promulgated new rules that prevented states from enforcing any of their own consumer protection laws against national banks. The federal government's actions were so egregious and so unprecedented that all 50 state attorneys general, and all 50 state banking superintendents, actively fought the new rules. But the unanimous opposition of the 50 states did not deter, or even slow, the Bush administration in its goal of protecting the banks. In fact, when my office opened an investigation of possible discrimination in mortgage lending by a number of banks, the OCC filed a federal lawsuit to stop the investigation."

:mj07:

So we're saving people who are rich enough to keep over $100k in a bank account, but too stupid to spread it out over multiple accounts.

now california`s asking for a 7 billion dollar loan.....

this is just the beginning...

New york and illinois next.

Did you catch Biden last night on he and O's plan--not only lower interest rate of those that took out loans they couldn't afford--BUT---

Lower principal of loan also--suprised Palin didn't jump on that per her words on redistibution od wealth.

Would have big eye opener for responsible 95% of people that pay/paid their loans knowing O and Biden want to bail out the 5% of deadbeat that don't pay theirs.

Reward the deadbeats at expense of prudent--
socialism at its finest--or worst I should say.

We can go back to the do nothing rubber stamp republican congress we had under the first 6 years of Bush Jr.

Who saids this bill will work? What's plan B?

I see we want to omit the last 2 years when Dems took over congress.

Here's a few very simple facts for common/logical folks--we report- you decide.

Who is chairman of Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee=Barney Franks

Who is Chairman of the Senate's Banking Committee= Dodds

Who wanted investigation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in Sept 2003 after outside investigators said there was gross mistatements in earnings=Bush Admin

Who blocked it=Dems

2005 Who cosponsored bill to attempt to fix Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac=McCain

Who blocked it=Dems

"In 2006, it was revealed that Fannie Mae had overstated its earnings ? to which its senior executives' bonuses were linked ? by a stunning $9.3billion. Between 1998 and 2003, Fannie Mae's executive chairman, Franklin Raines, picked up over $90m in bonuses and stock options. "

Who blocked investigation of Raines and others=Barney and crew

"During the House Financial Services Committee hearing following Bush's initiative, Frank declared: "The more people exaggerate a threat of safety and soundness [at Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae], the more people conjure up the possibility of serious financial losses to the Treasury which I do not see. I think we see entities that are fundamentally sound financially." His colleague on the committee, the California Democrat Maxine Walters, said: "There were nearly a dozen hearings where we were trying to fix something that wasn't broke. Mr Chairman, we do not have a crisis at Freddie Mac and particularly at Fannie Mae under the outstanding leadership of Mr Franklin Raines."

who in congress has profited=Dodds # 1 recipient
Obmama #2

All Recipients of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Campaign Contributions, 1989-2008
Posted by adminSeptember 18, 2008Obama has only been in the senate for three years but he is the second highest receivers or donation from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. See below.

Name Office State Party Grand Total Total from
PACs Total from
Individuals
Dodd, Christopher J S CT D $165,400 $48,500 $116,900
Obama, Barack S IL D $126,349 $6,000 $120,349

What about Mac #63
McCain, John S AZ R $21,550 $0 $21,550

Maybe Scott with all his photo shop talent could make one for us of Obama with the halo effect and one hand stretched out like he was feeding the 5000 and the other stuffing money in his pocket--as he proclaimimg to his base how about "change" from old washingtion lobbiest fundamentals. :)

Dogs you are a real piece of work. Bush had SIX years of complete control to destroy our economy and he did it. Prior to that we had the last 2 or 4years of Clinton under a Republican Congress. The last two years we have had a DEE congress that quite frankly has given Bush everything he wants. I think Bush has only used two vetos in 8 years so you tell me how much of what he wanted he didn't get.
Your REPUBLICAN President Bush came on TV begging for this Bill. I know Obama asked for it but so did McCain. So don't go blaming this on the DEMS.
it is the policy of the Bush Admin. The one you love and praise so dearly, that has caused this.
It will not help the average taxpayer. It is not even meant to.
And I am not a small business owner but how many of these guys are taking out loans to cover payroll? Is that the way it is done?

I am not trying to sway opinion. Is that your objective? Maybe you can tell us why he is not responsible for the economic condition of 8 years into his stewardship?
What do the Neocon think tanks have to say about that?
