The PGA tour events seem to me to be getting harder and harder to predict at the moment - every week the courses play differently to how they are expected to - so this week I have only had one bet on a man in form who holds that form well - Billy Andrade seems big to me at 100/1 Coral, really like John Huston but won't be playing at 25/1

Ian,
I think the prices of the top few in the betting are getting shorter and shorter. I think it's to do with the tax free in October since then the bookies are squeezing the margin... just calculated the percentage with Hills and the Bell South is a whopping 189%

But someone is going to win it.... seen some 30 Huston at betfair!

Scott McCarron 33/1 at Heathorns (but now 25/1)
After his last 2 performances I would usually leave him well alone but this is the only event in which I could consider him as he was winner here last year and in 1997. Missed the cut at the Players but as said last week I am ignoring that lottery for form purposes. Prior to that he had a disastrous final round 81 at the Bay Hill... but if you can ignore that (as well)...he is having a decent season with runner up spots in both the Nissan &
World Matchplay and 5th in the Mercedes.... the trouble is it doesn't usually pay to ignore these things... smallest of small stakes with a health warning?

As last week I fancy Toms and Singh in the Outrights but the prices dictate no bet. Vijay played beautifully in Houston and it would be no surprise if he were to go and win Bell South ( and the Masters ) - what a treble.

Have played Singh at Evs ( Ladbrokes ) -v Mickelson ( 72 match up ).

I thought with Cink not highlighting so far this term he may be a bit of value but I could not back him at 40's in this field.

I've had a little on Kenny Perry at 40/1 ( WillHill ) and will add Weir at 25/1+. Probably stick with the two.

a couple 72 holes
Weir -110 over Goosen @ Cascade
Course form MUCH better
Perry -105 over Faxon @ 5dimes
Tough to buck Faxon with his form but Perry's not bad either and giving up 20 yards on drive on this layoutwill be tough to overcome even with faxons flat stick.

Certainly has been tough going trying to pick a winner on the PGA Tour lately but on the positive side that will make the next winner selected even more satisfying !!

Here goes for this week:

Phil Mickelson each way 9-1
Mike Weir each way 25-1
Davis Love each way 33-1
Steve Flesch each way 66-1

Three for this week
Huston 25/1 ew everywhere. Bad price, but only really expected 33-40. Backed last week bettingmad! Putter on fire over last weekend, probably been kept in fridge all week, so will putt like a lemon now, but got to be on. Worried about not being in Florida or Hawaii...so together with price, not going mad..
Weir 25/1 ew Sportingodds. Seems fair price.
Cink 40/1 ew Netbet Sports 1/5 1st 6! House on course and all that.

Thought it quite generous myself Ian,considering he's the scoring leader in this event.
Outrights to place 1/2 unit
Huston 10/1 @ Oly
Perry 10/1 @ SIA
Will have a couple more at cut.

adding 72 holes
Cink -110 over Love @ 5dimes
Cink a resident of Sugarloaf-Love 10% chance of WD missed 2 of last 4 cuts,2nd biggest chalk eater this year next to Duval.

Singh +100 over Mick @ SIA (ties lose)
Haven't seen let down after win in past from Singh and got to wonder what type of funk Mick's mind is in and where his priorities lie. Quote from Atlana paper
Phil Mickelson wasn't practicing at the TPC at Sugarloaf on Tuesday and wasn't seen at his other Georgia haunt, either. "Normally we see him Monday or Tuesday of this week," said Chris Haack, golf coach at the University of Georgia, speaking from the university course in Athens. "I know someone saw him at the [Final Four] basketball game last night, so we know he's in town." Mickelson plays in Athens because his caddie, Jim MacKay, lives there

couple 1st rounders @ Cascade
Couples -115 over Pampling
Huston +100 over Goosen

Can't determine if am or pm will have advantage. If they get projected rain today fairways will be firmer (more roll)in pm.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Course firming up

Sugarloaf superintendent Mike Crawford expects the firmness to return to the course following last weekend's torrential rains, provided today's expected showers are minimal. "If we can dodge a bullet with the rain," he said, "I think we should have the best playing conditions we've had since 1997." He is hoping for the greens to hit 11 on the stimp meter

BOBBYW,

To answer your question an "each way" bet means that you are backing the golfer to win (must finish first) or place (must finish in the top 4 or 5 depending on the book).

For example if you have $50 each way (total outlay $100) on Mike Weir at 25-1 you basically have two bets running:

Bet #1 is $50 to win at 25-1 which would return $1300 if he wins
Bet #2 is $50 to place at 25-4 which would return $362.50 if he places

Also bear in mind that should he win the tournament then both parts of the bet payout which would be a $1662.50 collect.

Hope this makes sense.

All you have to do now is pick the winner !!!!

:D

All we need now is for Duluth to be moved from Georgia to Florida and we can start to work out the winnings on Huston!
