I was debating with a buddy the other day.I said Ichiro was the best all around player no doubt and he argued with me that he wasn't.I asked him to name someone better and he couldn't--can you?
I think Ichiro has pretty much the whole package great arm-fast-hitting-fielding etc etc only thing he doesn't do is hit for power all tho he can crank it once in a while..
Who do you think is the best all around player?

good question.there is no real 5 tool player in the game, like you said ichiro cant hit for power.but he can do many good things ,with the bat and can run for sure.my vote goes to albert pujois, this guy became a star instantly, hes my pick for the best player in the game. :)

Ichiro's a great player but maybe doesn't walk enough. His on base % could be higher, but then again I guess he hits for a high enough average to more than make up for that. Definitely a great one.

It's scarey to think about what numbers Pujols could put up in the future.....do you realize he hadn't struck out all season until last night? And that includes ALL of spring training! Simply amazing.

doochuk- definitely not saying its a no brainer...just think hes the closest thing to a real 5 tool player in the game today....avg,hr's,rbi,and hell of an arm....true triple crown threat...if there is a weakness in his game it would be that he doesnt swipe bags that much but hes also 6-3 230lbs and a slugger....really not his role....although he did have 40 steals in 2002 and 37 in 2001...would also say pujols is right there and hes young....before its all said and done he may end up being the best...ichiro is awesome but his lack of power and rbi(because its not his role) affects my opinion of the best all around player....he is probably the best pure hitter....singles.singles,singles!! thats his job...get on base and he definitely could walk more to get in scoring position...he scores 100 -110 runs a year with only 40-50 walks a year in about 650+ ab's...could you imagine how many runs he'd score if he walked 90-100 times a year....130-140? thats a shit load of runs...good debate topic...le

Puhols will be the next Great IMO. It's really all speculation, though. Remember a few years back, when everyone was talking about how long it would take, not if, Griffey would break Aaron's record? A few untimely injuries can derail any type of greatness.

Arod not doing a whole lot of things to be considered that anymore, Pujols hits for power and average, vladdy hits for power average great arm and steals some bases he is not stealing as much as he used to but he is still the most complete player, but i agree ichiro the best pure hitter and if i needed a hit i would definite bat him over anyone...

i like that vlad pick myself, that guy is solid.how about carlos beltran,27 years old, solid center fielder
13 assists last year only 8 errors,he got power 38 home runs and a switch hitter to boot and he can run like a demon 42 stolen bases.the average is a little weak, but that will only get better.and we know he can play post season baseball,8 homeruns last season.pretty close to a 5 tool player.i would take beltran over ichiro.

have a good day guys :)
