When it's not that long, say 2 hours or so, I like to listen to some "Prince" from the old days.
When it's a long trip I must have a few "Pink Floyd" cd's.

Oh, this song will keep you awake at the wheel..lol:

I Can't Drive 55 - Sammy Hager

Or, how 'bout any of these:

Smugglers Blues - Glen Fry
Jane - Jefferson Starship
Keep on Rockin in the Free World - Neil Young
Barricuda - Heart
Walk Away - James Gang
Another Ones Bites the Dust, or FatBottom Girls - Queen

I would have to add some Stevie Ray Vaughn, like Pride and Joy or Crossfire, or ABB, like One Way Out or Statesboro Blues, just to add a little more cruising speed.

Happy trails MONK!

"Hey, Romeo, what about your promise to the He-Man, Woman-Haters Club" "I'm sorry, Spanky, I have to live my own life"...Tough Guys, REO Speedwagon.

I've driven from Maine to Oregon all over the west, and back again, so I have a little experience in this regard. It is a matter of opinion, of course, but for what its worth:

For getting going in the morning, I always did like some crunching southern rock like Top and "Radar Love" is a classic choice. My pick would have to be some Soundgarden, though.

For your typical stretch of highway, I look to a little Lu. Williams, Steve Earle, George Thorogood. I'm normally not an Eagles fan, but not bad for the road.

But, for really logging those miles over those long stretches through the grassy plains of Montana, Wyoming or for taking the desert road from LA to LV, something grooving and mellow to really put you in that nice "hypnotized" state of mind is what I prefer. "Lucious Jackson" comes to mind. Maybe some Steely Dan (like Aja for instance). All of this is preferred in the altered state of mind. The right mix of Stevie Wonder, Sly and the Family Stone, and other 70's groove can be just the thing, too.

I'm starting to miss driving.

When I lived in Mo use to drive bout 160 miles to see girlfriend away in college. Would take T-Tops off 69 vette LT1 350 and cruise to the sound and use to crank up the tune "Ride Like The Wind" when I got sleepy. When I got real sleepy would crank up Let it Ride which would be great song for Jack to proram when site is loading:)

Some goods ones in here that brings back memories.
All Along the Watch Tower was one of my altime faves.

P3putt If you like the doors try cranking up full length version of When the Musics Over. What a killer tune!

Some Good Tunes

Some Good Tunes

Here's a few old songs and albums you might want to consider:

1. " Time For Me To Fly" - REO Speedwagon

2. "In The Light" - Led Zepplin

3. Band: Blues Traveler...Album: Save His Soul

4. Band: Rush...Album(s)...Chronicles

5. Any Pink Floyd Album

6. Any Genesis Album

7. Any Journey Album...Preferebly the one with "Only The Young"

Ah yeah, the good old days. Driving across country with my best friend in his Honda Prelude. An ounce of pot with us, some great tunes, and not a care in the world. Boy how 10-15 years can change a man.
