I will be going to Vegas in July and was wandering if I could get some opinions on players favorite places to stay and ways to swing a better deal on rooms. I was last in Vegas in '97 and I am looking forward to this trip.....

Wolftaz, I was just out there last month. We usually stay at Ballys but this trip we stayed at Treasure Island . I think I liked Treasure Island beter.Seems like the dealers are more friendly. Also the accomadations were very nice and it is in a good location.
We paid $39 a night . I feel location is very important when in Vagas.
PS broke about even . Good Luck!

I am very partial to The Mirage, it is very comfortable and the service is great....some of these newer places are just too big and it's a pain to get around within the hotel. Also, I like to play poker and you can't beat that room, the sportsbook is great also....

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
Hard Rock has the chicks and pool, nice rooms and MLB dime line in sportsbook. But costs some and need a car to get around.

for value and terrific location I like Imperial Palace.

Mirage is super too, for the price.

tons of info at www.lvol.com----look at reports on various hotels and post questions at discussion boards for very timely and informed opinions.

MGM is not worth staying in. Too big was mentioned above, and MGM is guilty of that.

I have stayed from one end of the Strip to the other, and end up going back to Paris/Ballys almost every time. Lots of reasons, but mostly they are a 10 out of 10 on the value scale. Plus:

- right across the street from Bellagio, which for poker or sports betting has almost no equal.

- center strip. Close access to almost anything you could want in any direction. I loved staying at the Hard Rock but it was just too much of a hassle coming to the Strip to play poker or do anything else.

- table game comps can be combined at the Paris/Ballys, although with most of the large corps going to a combined points system, this is now less of a feature than it used to be.

- Paris buffet best in the city in my book.

** sorry forgot you asked about getting better deals. If you dont have a players card at Ballys/Paris, call reservations and ask for their VIP number. Explain to the host you are a new player and the level you play at. First time out they will probably only give you the casino rate for your stay and they tell you when you are there they will track your play and maybe write off additional charges at checkout.

When you get there, get a Players Card first thing, before you do anything. You can also use it at both sportsbooks, every bet you make, make sure they track it. Also absolutely use it every time you sit down at a table game. I dont know the level you play/bet at, but a reasonable amount of play per day usually results in free food or free rooms. **

For what you get, rooms are really a great value at Paris, check their web site for possible specials.

Any other questions, just ask.

Best deal I have found so far is the Golden Nugget downtown for $84 for three nights total. I am going with a group and they are partial to downtown, I personally like the strip myself. Bally's offered the three nights for $149 fro 3 nights total. I had a players card at Bally's but that was in '97 and I can't find the card now.

Bluegrass!
Stayed @ Luxor, Harrahs, Mirage, NY-NY, Flamingo, Ballys, Trop, Aladdin, Bellagio, HardRock, MGM, Excalibur, Hilton, & Paris. Doesn't get any better than the Bellagio but come prepared to spend much dinero. Worst was ExCalibor & Luxor! Luxor rooms were nice but atmosphere & location sucked! For your money, I still haven't stayed at a nicer and more enjoyable place than the Mirage.

On or off Strip ?

On or off Strip ?

Off:
Rio (best buffet in Vegas, great free show, cocktails waitresses wear Gs with nuttin covering 'em up),
excellent pool
;)
or
Hard Rock (sand pool, great munchies & Book, killer concerts)
but bad location TV & Gay bars in surrounding area

------------------------------------------------
On:
Treasure Island at the Mirage (& Mirage) both great values and center strip lots to do with the kiddies if your dragging 'em along.

Ballys & Paris (great locaion across from Belagio) has a free monorail round trips to Ballys and Paris. Great rates.

Mandalay Bay has to be my favorite. Has a 4 Seasons up top if ya got that kinda cashola.

Stay clear from Stratosphere (crack-ho city) although some in this forum would feel right at home :nono:

If your in to heart pounding thingys (besides Crazy Horse Too ahem Fly & Kosar).........
New York New York has a cool coaster and an ESPN Zone.
Sahara has a coaster named Speed and a Nascar Cafe.
Out at stateline they have one called the Desperado (kicks-ass)
and a log flume.

What ever you do....
Have a great time

Senor Capper--- Would you recommend staying on the strip or downtown? Going with a group and I am setting things up. I have gotten a great deal for us on airfare and I am now working on the hotel. Great write-up.

I don't "do" downtown

I don't "do" downtown

and if you decide to, Golden Nugget is the only way to go. Period.
Rooms downtown are cheaper than the Strip though.

The Strip.... I would steer clear of the North end. Meaning Stratosphere, Sahara, Circus Circus, Rivera,Stardust and Frontier.
Though rooms at all those places are great if your on a budget and don't mind a plain room. Stardust has a decent SB and JJ Walker and that dude from the movie w/ Billy Crystal and Robert Deniro, damn forgot his name he was the heavy set limo driver/bodyguard for Deniro, anywayz he hangs there too.

Anywhere Center Strip is cool....Ballys Caesars, Mirage, TI, Bellagio, Paris even the Harrahs Holiday Inn is a good value its located next to the Imperial Palace and across from Caesars.
Never been to the Aladdin but Fletch can tell you about that place.

The group that I am going with has quite a few first timers. I am mostly a $25 a hand avg. Blackjack player. Think the first timers would like the strip a lot better than Downtown.

Golden Nugget is a very nice place for the price but it is downtown. As for the strip, a decent place is the Barbary Coast. Sportsbook is small but 2 of the best resturants around and is a great location. No buffet there though, but Bally's is across the street and love their breakfast buffet. NY strip steak during breakfast. Yummy! :D I've stayed mostly at Harrah's, then GN and BC after that. Rio is awesome also, no doubt.

Best Rooms

Best Rooms

are by far in Venetian... all rooms are bi-level suites.... unbelievable... however, it can be pricy and the location isn't the best....

But the rooms are worth it.
