My experience says that there are basically two types of people. The rare case like Saint who was a top athlete and was still hypertensive, and the rest of us that have lifestyle factors that tend to make us hypertensive (cigs, booze, obesity, and STRESS). Saint and his type will always be on meds. For the rest, get rid of risk factors, and lower your b/p. almost impossible for the majority; that's why so many million Americans take meds. Lawrence probably knows the numbers, but I think at least 1/4th of Americans have diagnosed hypertension. Crazy!! Woody, u have some medical history too that's concerning, so take care of this! U don't want to be laying in some hospital bed with the nurses turning and wiping your big-assed self after u stroke out. The last 10 years I have seen a huge upturn in people in their 30s and 40s having major strokes. It can happen.
