As for the call itself it sucked, but it certainly wasn't a conspiracy. And whoever said Dye is a scumbag because he knew it didn't hit him. Do you really think Bagwell would have said "sorry ump, it didn't hit me, lets have another pitch?"

He's spent how many seasons behind the plate......Dye doenst even flinch....not even an acting job about it stinging...and he gives him first base. I feel bad for me....cause I have the Stros.....but I feel even worse for die hard Houston fans.....cause their the ones who are really getting hosed here. At the least.....it should have been 3-2 to Dye again and a chance to end the inning

well the umping has been atrocious(sp?) throughout the playoffs....if anything freeze its a little payback for the Astros when that fantome tag on Molina at 2nd base for the Cards......but then again Sox having everything going there way along with calls...reminds me of Boston from last year.

I'm not a big fan of baseball and I had no action on the game and have the Wsox to win the series BUT.. these Umps are very bad. I don't think I have see so many screw ups than this year in MLB playoffs. Clearly if the ball hits Dye, he would have dropped the bat but its not his fault, the Umps missed it. Again, I think the umps are really bad this year and leave fans shaking their heads. The umps should have huttled up and corrected that call. I'm sure the 1st base ump could have see that. I read something which actually said that the UMPS in BBall are not allowed to ref the world series 2 year in a row. While I do understand why, I think its important to have the best umps out there in the big game, whether or not they ump'd the year before.

I would hate for reply in baseball but its all about making the correct call. Umps and refs have a tough job but it just burns when it happens so many times in such critical games like the playoffs.

Houston bullpen screwd up too. Destiny is stepping in for the Sox!!! The Stros must be feeling like crap this morning. Mr. Oswalt should be able to restore some order but.. I think Sox bats are just bigger this year.

Have you ever played baseball in cold conditions in your life?

Let's say Qualls throws 90mph. I will be damned if you get hit with that ball in the area it was at if you dont either drop the bat or grimmace in anyway. Bad call on the umps side. Plus there's a big difference in sound whether it hits you or the bat and the ump can hear all that.

Dye did none of those....so thats an easy blown call period no matter how you look at it.
