Afraid they have a lot of work to improve this shit show so far. These SOS of schedule teams in the 60's and 70's don't get the job done. NO parity at all among those cupcakes....

I could not agree more. If a team schedules anyone decent out of conference, they're idiots. Fill your schedule with cupcakes The committee has shown its about records not about SOS. Indiana played 2 teams with a winning record. Michigan at home they won by 5 and OSU and the got slapped. Every other team they played had a losing record. 30 teams could have beat Indiana.

for once, i'm not gonna hate on the committee. the way the system is structured sucks. the ACC was garbage this year, but clemson got the auto-bid. and it would have been really shitty to leave out SMU, penalizing them for playing in their conference championship game while others were sitting at home. oh, the big 12 was also garbage, which gives us AZ St. are you fucking kidding me?

alabama, south carolina, and mississippi are all better teams than clemson, smu, az st, boise, and indiana, i understand the argument against indiana, but how do you leave out a big 10 team that went 11-1? the big 10 is easily the 2nd best conference in the country. and indiana's only loss was on the road at ohio st, a game that was 7-7 late in the first half until the punter dropped a snap, setting up ohio st for an easy TD.

as i said, i think those 3 SEC teams are better than indiana, but i get the argument for the hoosiers to be in the playoff. those 3 SEC teams all lost 3 games.

Will not be long until there are only three major conferences then maybe a much clearer path for a 3 loss team. Power 5 A conference with championship then mini power 5 B conference with championship. Hell I would rather have the old way 4 teams than this but as the American way TOO MUCH FUCKING MONEY INVOLVED...

Overall fact of the matter is the CFP got it right. They used conference winners, best overall records, etc., and we all knew it was not a perfect system, the ones that are crying are the ones who felt they could beat any of the teams in the CFP, and those whining bastards should have handled their business, period end of effing story!

You want to make a change to the CFP? Do this! Every D1 FBD Conference Winner, no wild cards rank them 1-12 or 1-16, whatever, all have to play, no bye weeks, it'll take 4-5 weeks, start the same week as the traditional Army/Navy game and play each weekend until you have your final 2, give them no time off and play the following week on a Saturday or Monday Night!! Then there will be no bitching or moaning, or this team thought they should have gottent there etc., again only Conference WINNERS. SEC, BIG12, BIG10, CUSA, AAC, SUNBELT, MAC, MOUNTAIN WEST, ACC, PAC whatever it is, and MAC, Independent w/best record, namely Notre Dame would be that this year but I still feel ND should be excluded until they join a fucking conference!! No Wild Card teams allowed, this way no bitching, they simply should have won their conference to be eligible! Then the CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP will mean something to all the teams!! Keeps any team from manipulating the system with a better record, such as a SMU or Indiana or Tennessee or Texas or Whomever the fuck ever!!

So tired of all the cry babies!! They're men!! Competiveness is one thing, acting like a baby and saying the committee got it wrong is asinine!

Agree Bill but we both know SOS should be the deciding factor and they stated that. I'm not a crybaby i just want the best teams like maybe the NFL? SMU prime example 8-9 conference teams but only two with winning record fuck Montana St could have gone 11-2. Bottom line should they be in? Of course not but maybe you are on to something with your formula.

Agree WB. I've always believed if you can't win your conf you can't be nat'l champs. Back with old alignments I thought the B10, B12, SEC, ACC, P10 would all have automatic byes. 3 play-in games for the last 3 quarterfinal spots would be between champs of MAC, WAC, AAC, CUSA, MWest, SunBelt.
Up to each conf to decide how they decide their conf champ (reg season, champ game, whatever).

Granted you'd probably have a few blowouts, but each conf would have their shot.

Alas, while it gives everyone a shot, money trumps all. Plus would force ND into a conference. The big confs want the lion's share of the pie. It might have worked in a simpler, non-NIL era.

EJ, I apologize, I wasn't calling you out as a crybaby, I definitely would call out Beamer & Kiffin LOL!! I agree on SOS!! The problem is, SEC has some really good teams, many could beat any of the Big10 or Big12 teams, but the fact is, we have these "POWER" conferences now, but eons ago we had the SEC, SWC, Big12, BIG10, Big East, ACC, WAC, Pac8, then conferences added new schools that moved up from a lower division of the NCAA, etc., the NCAA has a broken system, it will continue to be broken because of all the money out there, the rich are getting richer and the dumb are getting stupider!! LOL It's a reality. Hell we got a braniac running the Chicago Bears who was the Big10 Commish who didn't want any part of Jim Harbaugh! There is no reason to have teams in the ACC from California or any state west of the Ohio River! Same with the Big10, none west of the Mississippi and none north of the Mason-Dixon line. Make up some new conferences, aligned by distance, not these crazy coast to coast alignments.

For me, they need to stop the transfer portal immediately, do not allow any player to transfer until after their first semester is officially over and the college football season is completely done. When you transfer to the portal, you get it one time, you transfer twice and you sit that following season! Roster limits need to be 25 players more than what the NFL carries, this way teams can't hoard their rosters. Conferences need to be limited to just so many teams and so many miles apart for travel, the way it is now, expenses are just going to end up closing some programs, small colleges across the country are closing already that have been in existence for over 100 years, walk-ons are great but you don't need that many players on your roster 90 or more to run a practice!! There are 22 positions, 11 offense 11 defense, plus special teams, limit that to a depth chart of 4 per position.

If it weren't a mess enuf for the CFP Committee, look at the teams which got byes the first week! Everyone of them except Georgia are underdogs, and the caveat of all of this is the teams with byes don't have home field advantage and each game in warmer climates or indoors.

Penn St -10 1/2 to -11 vs Boise (Phoenix AZ) - Boise playing on this field if I can recollect, is undefeated in bowl games SU!! Boise in the same category as SMU? I think not as Boise played Oregon pretty close earlier in the season, Jeanty is pissed he didn't get the Heisman and he should be, "D" for Penn State looked great albeit at home vs SMU in the tundra and cold air in Happy Valley. This is a neutral site game no real edge, PSU travels well. Madsen needs to be pinpoint with his passing for Boise or this could get out of control the second half.

Texas -13 1/2 to -14 vs Arizona State (lowest ranked team) at the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, I think Texas will have trouble containing Skattebo as he's a dual threat which will open up Sun Devils WRs.

Ohio St -1 to -2 1/2 vs Oregon (Pasadena Rose Bowl) - Oregon is undefeated at the Rose Bowl as an underdog, of course we know Ohio State barely lost at Oregon earlier in the season and had chances to win, Oregon is better than that game and Ohio State got the monkey off their back crushing the orange out of Tennessee last night

Notre Dame vs Georgia -1 to -1 1/2 back to -1 in New Orleans (DOME) - Georiga may be without Beck as QB, I like their backup better, at least he showed heart after getting his bell literally rung vs Texas, Dawgs should have almost everyone back for this game as well, if you want to analyze this game further, compare schedules (SOS), defensive categories, Indiana wasn't much vs ND? Hmmm, I watched the whole game and saw where Georgia can beat ND at and that's the running game. Indiana's QB Rourke (spelling) is slow afoot and he had no touch when it came to passing outdoors for a polar bear QB from Canada, there will be no polar bear playing in this tilt, so watch Georgia in a pick'em situation here.
