thanks for the well wishes guys.

bigdad,

good to see you posting. i respect your plays & am curious to see who you like this bowl season.

btw, i was having a very good season up until the beginning of november when i couldn't buy a winner.lucky for me at about that time i started winning in the nfl.

bill,

i don't have an opinion on the total tonight, but about 95% of the cappers on the net like the under.

good luck this season boys.

AR182 - Thanks for the kind words as I have not been around this year as much as in the past. With 9 weddings, including my own in October, something had to be put on the backburner and unfortunately it was this. Plus, in years past I rarely bet after October in NCAA FB aside from the bowls. Lines get much sharper than in the early season where there is a TON of value. As I said, I did "lurk" a bit to see who was doing what and again you had a solid year. Your statement also proves my point how difficult it is to predict in November. This winter I am going to look and see if there is a trend for home dogs after 10/31 as they seemed to be all over the place. For this bowl season I have about 8-10 games picked out and will post over the next few days. Hopefully we both start off the bowl season on a positive note!

here are some tidbits about bowl games that i got from a weekly newsletter........

there have been 487 bowl games played since 1980.

of the 974 teams that have played in those bowl games.......

only 17 of them came into the game off 3 or more su/ats wins & were favored over a team off a su loss. 5 of those 17 favorites won the game. only 4 covered the spread. one team fits that situation this year....hawaii favored over uab.

only 13 of them came in averaging less than 100 yards per game rushing & were favored or a dog of +3 or less. 4 of those 13 won the game. only 3 covered the spread. two teams fit that role this year.....hawaii & oregon st.favored over notre dame.

only 16 of them of them came into the game as favorites after winning less than 4 games the previous year & were playing against a team who won more than 4 games the previous year. 5 favorites won the game & 4 covered.....the team that fits this situation is no. carolina favored over boston college.

only 21 of them came into the game after scoring 35 or more points in their previous game losing. 7 of them won the game. 6 covered.....two teams fit that situation this year....bowling green & utep.

only 28 of them came into a bowl game as a dog off a loss in which they scored 30 or more points. 12 of them won the game but 21 of them covered....conn. fits that situation this year.

only 15 of them came in after allowing 30 or more points over the season, then were favored or were a dog of less than +14. only 3 of those teams won the game......toledo, north carolina, & hawaii fit that situation this year.

only 17 of them came into the game as a favorite or a dog of less than +3 after scoring less than 7 points in their last game. 4 of them won the game & 2 of them covered.....this year colorado fits that situation.

good luck.

you`d better have an enormous set to bet against hawaii on the island,imo...in chang`s swan song...

one i was looking at was ohio st....they have been on the come as the season has progressed....i like tressel....the "d' is solid,if not spectacular....they face a fairly one dimensional club in okie st.......they`re the dog.........

and then there`s GINN.....maybe the most explosive weapon in college football...you could argue bush...i think ginn is more dangerous...they handle the ball an equal amount of times, ginn goes to the house more often,imo....

i`ll take tressel and the improving buckeyes....lord knows, they burned me a few times this year...

they seem to be accruing the identity of a team that finds ways to win...

Home teams

AR182 I know your a trend player do you have any information regarding how teams playing in their own home state. I actually was looking at playing North Carolina but that stat you threw in was pretty convincing. Now I'm going to have to reevaluate the play. Gardenweasel was also looking at Ohio State as they have been a different team since changing the quarterback as they have opened up the game plan a little bit.

Good luck to you on your bowl picks this season.

Im sorry but Ginn has nowhere NEAR the potential that Reggie Bush has...The kid is absolutley amazing, Ginn is more like Dante Hall, Bush is more like a Tomlinson

no need to be sorry.....ginn`s legs alone are longer than dante hall is tall....

i think ginn is the bigger threat to takre it to the house....

if you compare the number of scores per touch,i doubt that the comparison is even close.......of course ginn`s not a rb....

throw out bush`s rushes....still not close,i`d bet....and ginn`s a year behind bush....and doesn`t have the surrounding cast...

not saying ginn`s accomplished as much...i just think he`s the most explosive offensive player that i`ve seen in years..

i`d love to see ginn in that usc line-up...it wouldn`t be fair...

have you seen ginn?....

he`s otherworldly...

no disrespect to bush...

time will tell...

bush and ginn are both incredible, so really cant go wrong with either.

take it fwiw, but heard some scouts say that if there were no restrictions on draft class (anyone was available), that ginn would be the first player taken over anyone in college football.

again, hard to argue against reggie bush because that kid is a stud.

but ginn is a touchdown waiting to happen every time he gets anywhere near the football. at times, he looked like a nfl player competing against little boys. and ginn is 18 yrs old. yikes.

i shudder to think what 10 or 15 pounds of muscle will do on this kid`s frame..

i didn`t mean to diminish bush....but when i was talking about how explosive ginn is,bush is the only other guy that i could think of that was comparable...

the problem with ginn will be that ohio st doesn`t have a ton of other weapons for teams to be concerned with...will make it much tougher on him...
