god...if the peterson`s are the future of boxing, then i`m very thankful for mma.....

watching them vs these set-ups is like watching gravy congeal....

and i`m more than a tad baffled by,not only that decision, but the doctor`s work on that MASSIVE gushing cut that hanshaw suffered.....

the doctor didn`t even wipe the cut and the way the blood was pulsing out, theres no way he could have seen the extent of the damage....

hanshaw clearly won that fight....mendy was slow and for the first 8 or 9 rounds practically the only thing he landed were a few body shots and uppercuts in the clinch....

the guy is slooooow....
no way that`s a draw....no way....boxing`s beginning to blow.....

I had Hanshaw winning 8-4 in rounds. I don't see how it was a draw and I REALLY don't see how one judge gave it to Mendy 7-5. To be honest, Mendy is worse than I thought. A great comeback opponent for Lacy though after injury. He hasn't much power and leaves himself WIDE open/ lunges in. With Mendy being on Shobox and getting some Pub, I could see Lacy smashing this garbage monster in 3 rounds....

Anyhows, Hanshaw clearly deserved the win. He easily won the first half of the fight. Do you mean to tell me that the judges had Mendy winning half of the 1st half of the fight or sweeping the whole 2nd half? Bad decisions like this kill boxing.........

we can all disagree...but i`m glad you posted...i don`t have much faith in charles or woody allen`s opinions......woody didn`t even see all those body shots that the cuban landed in that first fight....

what do these guys watch?

anyway, thanks armageto...i`m glad somebody else saw the fight as i did....

but, given his resume`,how can you be sure that he`s "a really good fighter"?.....the amateur background?.....the wins over garcia(fluke)and old, shot mckart?.....
Simms victory over Garcia a fluke? I don?t see it that way at all. To me Simms was totally superior to Garcia. Simms was relaxed, on his toes, picking his shots, trying out different things. Garcia had nothing, he was finished without receiving any big beating. I rank Garcia as a 4:th grade fighter, Simms as 2:nd. To me, Simms is a mix of Casamayor 75%, and Hopkins 25%. Now, Simms is getting old, and has not fought in 2 years. That?s why I don?t put big money on this fight. Rivera and Garcia had an awfull first half of boxing. It was just simple give and take fighting. I rate Rivera as just a little stronger fighter than Garcia.
(bad English, I know, but I?m from Sweden and kind of tired, I?m sorry).

your english is fine..better than many americans.......must be nice to be multilingual.....

i agree....i don`t think garcia`s much...

but, don`t you remember the garcia/simms fight?...i think the scores were close through,i think,4 rounds.....in the 5th,the ref broke the fighters and, like a fool, garcia was standing there with his hands at his sides bitching to the ref about something and simms hit him while his hands were at his sides and knocked him tfo......

it was legit...protect yourself at all times and all that....but it was a "fluky" win....

all i`m saying is that i`ve never seen simms in a long, tough fight with a difficult opponent....and although he may not be a classically gifted fighter, rivera is a determined, tough guy....and having a belt will probably make him that much more determined....

the rivera loss to collazo...a lefty...does tend to bolster your argument....

simms is the better technician...bigger...a lefty....lots of advantages...it`s just that i need to see him in a real fight...

maybe without the layoff, and a little more to go on,i`d join you at +125(nice odds)...

i wish you luck

Simms is easy to bet in this fight despite his layoff. He is getting odds and is is ridiculously more talented than Rivera. Way quicker hands and feet. Rivera isn't really a great puncher, he just has to put some heat on and hope for the best.

Also, I didn't think Simms beating Garcia was a fluke. Garcia relaxed and got KTFO. The ending I guess you can say is flukish but the fight itself was going the way of Simms anyways. Not to mention he had hurt Garcia just before he knocked him out which was why Garcia was trying to hold and not completely coherant in the first place.

i`m not saying he wouldn`t have beaten limited garcia...we saw what limited rivera did to him.....

i`m saying that it was a "fluky" knockout...anytime you hit a guy that`s standing there with his hands down,it`s fluky....

legit?...sure.....but,it wasn`t as though it was a beautiful counter....or a classic one/two....the guy had his dick in his hands....

the best comparison i can make is when the kicker on a football team relaxes during a play and gets leveled....he should have had his head on a swivel...his mistake...

was it his fault?...sure...

i think i`m getting a little misunderstood here...i`m not touting rivera.....i think he CAN WIN,though.....that`s why i hesitate...

boxers DO give rivera trouble....i`m just not sure about simms going 12 very hard rounds....

simms is now up to +135.....i`m getting very tempted.......

I was just saying what I think of this fight. I think Rivera is to ordinary at everything and Simms beats him. Rivera has a chance but it will be rough. He needs to walk through Simms basically IMO. It's not like Simms can't hit though to keep him modest. Interesting fight though, I can't wait.

it`s a really solid co-feature......rivera will have to press simms...and simms will have to fight...

+135 seems very generous...i guess people are swayed by the belt.....

and this isn`t in massachsetts...no home court for rivera....

i`m a little surprised that the odds are moving toward rivera...i didn`t expect that...

i may have to play a little on simms...

James Toney by Decision(+180).--- He cant knockout Peter and he may get a better scorecard than the last time.

Seems like a good value play to me.

Good Luck fellas.

Like the rest of the world, I thought Hanshaw won easily

But I don't want to talk about it, after all the bad beats last year I was hoping for a fresh start with better luck this year

And then I get completely hosed on my first big play of the year...

Unbelievable

I would think the bet is Peter by KO, but that fat bastard Toney keeps suprising me, so who knows. I don't feel good enough about Peter to bet the moneyline, so I think I will lighten it up and go Peter by KO (limping). GL

I thought the same thing in the first fight, and lost with the decision to peter. I'm not betting this one as I'm sort of superstitious and don't believe in betting on a second fight where I was wrong about the outcome first time out. theres plenty of other fights coming up.

Simms bashed Rivera in 10. Way to talented. Surprised Simms stopped him but I expected him to win.

helephant....simms totally outclassed rivera.....rivera had no clue as to how to fight a lefty....

the collazo fight was no anomaly....

thanks for tipping me over the edge......made me a few bucks.....more than covered my "over parlay" loser....

congrats...and thanks...

where`d that peter jab come from?.....and the shoeshine?....whoa....lol

and where did toney`s legs go?...looked like he was walking on stilts....

peter looked damned good.....and even though i lost a little, peter looks like he can really make some noise.....he`s really improved...i was happy for him....he oozes class....

toney may end up like ali....unfortunately...he needs to stop...enough...the fact that he thought he won the fight,in and of itself,is proof of a certain amount of mental impairment....

again, nice job helephant.....it was your weekend.....you caught the big break with mendy...but,knocked it out of the park with simms and peter....

congrats....you`re the big man on campus so far this year.....

continued success...
