am i missing some agreement between pacquaio and morales regarding the use of 10 ounce gloves instead of the usual 8 ounce glove for this weight class?.....i thought most jurusdictions and sanctioning bodies used 8 ouncers up to and usually, including welterweight.....

let me know if that`s the case...it`s important stuff to be aware of...

thanks...

From what I've read, the rule of 8 ounce gloves below and including welterweight still stands, and I haven't heard anything about a special agrreement.

I'm not sure why the gloves keep getting bigger as these guys move up in weight...but they obviously are. Watch Morales-Barrera #1 compared to #3...the first fight was at 122 and their gloves were tiny, the last fight was at 130 and the gloves were huge. Much more damage was done in the 1st fight, the last fight lookked like they had pillows over their hands. I remember both of us commenting on the size of the gloves after the fight.

Not sure whats up with all that...

105 lb'ers shouldn't be wearing the same size gloves as 147 lb'ers anyway

Bet365 is open to US customers; I just booked my tennis and golf plays there....

Interesting

I tried to open an account at gamebookers and betandwin but they wouldn't allow US customers due to legal issues

I went to bet365 and noticed it was also a UK book, so I didn't even make an attempt. Figured they all had the same rules and regs

Thanks for the info

Do yourself a favor and register at 5dimes and pinnacle so you can see what you're missing out on. You don't have to deposit money to sign-up.

I brought this up b/c you're talking about playing Webb at -120 when you can get him -106 at pinnacle

Check out the props at 5dimes, they'll put more up for this weekends fights as the week progresses

I set up my account at 5Dimes, I just never put any money into it yet. What does Webb look like over there at Dimes? Hopefully if I get my tickets here for the fights this weekend, I can see the Webb fight. Plus, whatever extra tickets I can sell will just go towards betting, so I can't lose either way

Thanks, I'm hoping to get my ticket hookup. I usually get it for fights in NY. If anyone is ever interested on here about attending some fights at MSG, just let me know. I can get you some good discounts for front row tickets.....

"the bunker"
suarez is now favored over webb at 5 dimes.......

b.l....in retrospect,i don`t think the gloves have gotten "bigger".....

maybe the color or style gives that impression....and the reyes gloves,i believe, are known as puncher`s gloves....and do tend to cause cuts.....maybe a coincidence...but,that`s the general consensus....

panama lewis had his own way of dealing with the glove issue.....

he removed the padding.....how scary is that?...

an interesting little tidbit...

"""Three-time world champion Erik 'El Terrible' Morales has been wearing a puncher's glove, Reyes, while training to take on Manny Pacquiao in Top Rank's big "The Battle" Pay-Per-View on Jan. 21 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. Morales, who usually wears Winning gloves, has made the switch while working out with his new trainer, Jose Luis 'Maestro' Sr., while training in Mexico. Gloves were a big issue in the first Morales vs. Pacquiao fight. By contract, both fighters wore Winning. After the fight Freddie Roach, chief trainer for Pacquiao, said "those were the wrong kind of gloves for Manny." For this fight, each fighter has a choice of gloves.""

That one looks solid

Julio, Mormeck, and Kyowa would also be a solid parlay

Based on what I've seen, I always assumed that each weight class (or groups of weight classes) would have their own weight (size) of gloves. It only makes sence that the weight of the glove be proportionate to the weight of the fighter. Why would Ivan Calderon and Miguel Cotto wear the same size gloves?

Anyway

The information given by the governing bodies is clear and consistant, welters and below all wear 8 ounce gloves. So why is it that the gloves look bigger as these guys move up in weight? You would think that if the fighter is bigger and the gloves are the same, that the gloves would look smaller...not bigger.

You must be right, the style and color must have a huge effect on our perception of the gloves size. Come to think of it, the gloves in Morales-Barrera #3 were yellow, and the gloves in #1 were black. My wife taught me that wearing light colors makes you look bigger and dark colors make you look smaller.

I believe they used Reyes gloves in the 1st fight and they used Winning gloves in the 3rd. Reyes gloves are very skinny, Winning gloves are wide and round. Maybe that combined with the colors is enough to influence our perception of size.

Either way you're right, Reyes gloves are considered punchers gloves and Winning gloves (amoung others) are defensive gloves giving you a wider block.

I recall Pac saying that if he had Reyes gloves on he would've ko'ed Morales, and now he's saying that he's gonna take Erics head off this time.

When told about these comments, Eric just smiled and said "lets see if he can do it"

Should be an excellent fight, and I expect fireworks early from Pac, but I think Morales can take his punch and weather the early storm.

I watched a documentary on that fight, it made me sick to my stomach, I think about it all the time.

The worst part of the whole deal (if memory serves) was that the fighter didn't get into much trouble b/c he claimed his corner did it and that he didn't know they were doing it.

Are you f*cking kidding me?

I'm supposed to believe that these guys were pulling sh*t out of his gloves and he wasn't aware of it...BS!!!

I know his corner did some hard time, but not near enough, and the fighter should have joined them.

I watched that documentary a long time ago, let me know if I fumbled any information or missed any details of this horrible story.

Julio dropped Kamya in round 1 and finished him in round 3

Easy money...and a great start to the new year

that incident where lewis took the padding out was disgraceful. the kid who was beaten by the loaded gloves died a few years later, haunted by the brutal ko. I read about it in sports illustrated, a very sad story.

"the bunker"
julio looks like he`s gonna be a load.....whew...straight,tight punches...to the body,hooks,combinations........

and cool as a cucumber...

i think it`s safe to say that vargas and mosley will steer clear of this kid....

congrats...

btw...i just had to touch bell at +400 as a hedge....

i don`t think he wins....i expect him to take a beating...but,he just punches to hard...and styles make fights...

other than braithwaite,i don`t see any real punchers on mormeck`s ledger...gurov?...nahhh..and braithwaite?...maybe i overestimated him....

i was hoping for some props on this one...still don`t see `em...

and that fricking mormeck/virgil hill fight haunts me...it was very close, from what i`ve been told...

i had to protect myself...even though i truly believe that mormeck will systematically wear down bell....

g.l,guys...

Found these at sportsbook...

Bell by Decision 7-1

Bell by KO - TKO - DQ 11-2

Draw 20-1

Mormeck by Decision 3-2

Mormeck by KO - TKO - DQ 1-1

................................................................

Bell is definitly a big puncher, but I don't think he hits much harder than Braithwaite. It looked like Wayne's punches had no effect on Mormeck at all. Bell couldn't stop Dale Brown and he lost that fight imo, Mormeck and Braith both stopped Brown in the 8th I believe. Mormeck's head is like a wrecking ball, I don't see anyone stopping him.

I'm just pissed that I didn't wait, Mormeck is now -380 at pinny
