Friday night play

Friday night play

Well, can't contest the probability that I've got a hard head, but I'm gonna throw a couple drinks down on Arnaoutis W10 @ +1500...and to win at +850. The odds are crazy, plus I don't think Garcia is that good. He's not the slick boxer Arn has been facing lately. He fights square. His last performance against a limited Mexican was apparently very sub-par. Plus, you gotta think that Arn will lay it on the line at some point. I can't see him continuing to sleepwalk through these fights.

Also went tinnie tiny on Arn getting 23.5 points at -115.

I'm not expecting to win, and will make the plays for the fun of it. But I do think Arn will do better than expected.

mighty mike goes down end of third. Gets up and falls back down. Didn't even see the punch. This may be over soon.

Rigo vs. Ishida

Rigo vs. Ishida

<p><img src="http://fightnews.com/Boxing/201008ishida500.jpg"></p>

Anybody have any thoughts on Rigo vs. Ishida? Rigo keeps a wide stance, slow as hell, pretty much only heavy-handed. There's a couple videos of him and I saw him fight joker Marco Rubio. He's also pulling a Mundine, coming down gradually from super middleweight, his last fight being some type of catch weight I'm assuming, since he came in around 156. Looks alot less muscular than he has at the higher weight classes. Line's moved drastically in favor of Rigo. Ishida is extra tall and lanky, and not as mobile as I thought a fighter like him would be. I've only seen one real fight video of him, and before seeing that my guess was that he'd be a Paulie Malignaggi type of fighter, but def. is not.

Garcia wins KO 4

I thought about the over yesterday. I know it's easy to say after the fact but I watched some footage of garcia on youtube and the guy can crack a bit. I'm not sold that he's the 2nd coming of anybody but he can really bang with the rt. The footage saved me some bucks.

Well, no biggie, and that's what I get for even a tickle on Arn. The guy is a shell of his former self. He should definitely hang'em up. I still say Garcia gets exposed at some point.

Saturday picks

Saturday picks

Rigoberto Alvarez (+190) - small I'm surprised to see that the odds have shifted so much in Alvarez's favor, and I would consider him the dog here. Glad I got in early, and probably would've left it alone at current even odds. I'm going with him because I think he's improving. He was even up with Rubio, who was a step up for him, before tiring. Sparing with brother Canelo has got to be doing him good. For Ishida's part, he's 35, has never fought outside of Japan, and has never really faced a contender. I think the timing is right here for Alvarez to pull it off. The deciding factor for me is the Mexico location.

That's really about it for me... I was hoping for some odds on the prizefighter winner, but none of my books are offering.

I've got some very small wagers on the first round match-ups:

S.McPhilbin over D.Timlin - Just playing a feeling here. Timlin's dossier of opponents is ridiculous. McPhilbin just 2-1 and I'm not gonna pretend to know anything significant about him, but he did have a decent amateur career. Timlin has been inactive.

McBride over Egobi - Egobi looks just awful.

Sprott over Hughes
Skelton over Adams

My pick is Sprott to win it all.

Good luck guys, and here's to more eventful weeks to come.

Thankfully next week will be much bette!

I have been trying to find some weigh in results for the prize fighter event!
Evan wrote that Sprott was 10 lbs heavier than in his last fight, but I cant find any results!!

IMO Skelton is old and slow, he could even lose his first fight!

I have got small plays on Adams (WPTS) and Shane!

I'm also considering both these guys and Sprott for the winner of the tourney!

Sprott has been kod in his last fight, but he tends to come back well from ko losses!
If he's in shape, IMO he's the clear favourite, but prizefighter events can be very unpredictable!

I found the weights!

Egobi is pretty heavy. The other participants seems to be in half decent shape!

PRIZEFIGHTER HEAVYWEIGHTS IV DRAW (with weights)

Matt Skelton (17st 11lb) v Ali Adams (16st 10lb)

Kevin McBride (20st 7lb) v Franklin Egobi (18st 5lb)

Declan Timlin (15st 13lb) v Shane McPhilbin (15st 10lb)

Michael Sprott (17st 4lb) v Danny Hughes (19st 8lb)

Zerwas,

I'm curious why you like McPhilbin? I've got a small wager on him too, but I wonder if you can tell me anything I don't know about the match-up. My reasoning is McP amateur background, Timlin's inactivity and pitiful list of opponents. Pretty much a boxrec wager.

at the head of the show they introduced all 8 fighters

from first impressions:

Adams looks in good shape
Timlin and McBride look like complete stiffs

we shall see

Chisora predicts Adams will upset Skelton and win the whole tourney
