in Japan Saturday
Tetsuya Suzuki
-150
Norifumi Suzuki
+120

Are these guys cousins or brothers?
I have never seen either guy, but right away I have to pick Norifumi based on one thing.

Tetsuya's last fight was a decision loss to KOJI SATO, one of the WORST FIGHTERS I have ever seen in a televised main event. This is the cat that Felix Sturm KO'ed a few fights back.

You have to be utter shit to lose to Sato !!!!!!

Sportsbook seems to be passing on some fights this weekend... They don't usually add fights, and so far no:

Gonzales vs. Vasquez
Edwards vs. Shindjuu
Adams vs. Ruiz
Rojas vs. Espadas
Segura vs. Tello

I know 5D has the Rojas fight... We'll see if any others appear.

Going VERY heavy on the chalk this week.

-Yefimovych-looks to be the higher class. I saw only a few clips of him but he appears to be capable if not world class. He's a pressure fighter that goes to the body well. His opponent barely scraped by derick campos and doesn't have a big punch to deter the tough ukrainian. That was enough for me to take -500.

-Mathysse straight up and the under-Harris is simply :bigun:. He's been on shaky legs for some time and appears to be worse each time out. Although he wasn't officially knocked out last time with the head clash, he was nonetheless KTFO and carried out on a stretcher. He barely survived the 1st rd in a fight with a scrub before that. Don't know if Mathysse is for real but the man can punch and he'll be gunning for Harris. At this pt in Harris' career it won't take the real deal to get him out of there. I took it straight -325 and the under -130.

-also have some parlays

Adamek refused flight on plane that crashed

Freaky stuff. On Monday, a friend of Tomasz Adamek offered to take him on a sightseeing tour. Adamek declined, concerned about the weather conditions. The plane crashed, killing all five aboard.

Pretty wild stuff there. Boxing has more than met the quota for tragedies recently. Glad the Pole missed the flight :toast: :toast: :toast:

My plays so far this week...

My plays so far this week...

Shawn Porter vs Russell Jordan Under 5.5 -130- Small

Porter reminds me of a raw Andre Berto with more power. The technique, especially his jab, is not there yet, but he can crack. I would put more on this fight, but 5.5 rounds is risky if opponents get scared and run for half the fight. TKO 4.

Lucas Martin Matthysse vs Vivian Harris Under 7.5 -150- Large
Vivian is now a shot fighter. He still can punch with power, but has little if any punch resitance when hit with a head shot. Lucas Matthysse is powerful and he goes for the KO early with 16 wins inside two rounds. Lucas just has to hit Vivian in the head a few times and this fight is over. I would not be shocked by a 1st round knockout.

Daniel Ponce de Leon vs Orlando Cruz Under 9.5 -120- Small

Ponce looks too strong for Cruz. Cruz is faster, but he doesn't have enough power to keep Ponce off of him. Cruz will use his footwork, but I think eventually Ponce will jab his way into postion and land a hard straight left hand to KO Cruz around round 8. Also, I think Ponce will get extra motivation to put on a good performance because of the favorable location.

What's up with the lines? 5D still not up??

So, I've got some more ideas for Friday...we'll see when lines come out.

So far:

3parlay - Matthysse, Yefimovich, Porter - LARGE(-120)
Matthysse-Harris UNDER 7.5 - medium (-110)
I got Matthysee early, but still couldn't resist parlaying him with these two, who I consider solid favs. Harris' issues are well known, but I think it is worse than that, to the extent that he should not be allowed to fight anymore. In his last three fights, Harris was ko'd by J.Witter, dropped twice and heavy in the 1st round by a 7-4 fighter, and then collapsed due to clash of heads against N.Bolanos. All must remember the way Harris went blank and was carried from the ring in a stretcher...it was scary. And now they put him in with a savage slugger like Matthysse, who will surely hit him harder than that headbutt. Are they trying to get him hurt?

For Matthysse's part, I am not sold on him either. He has dominated local opposition in Argentina, although in devasting fashion. His older brother Walter was brought up in the same mold, and turned out to be a big dud. Something in Matthysse seems tough though, and I am sure he will, at some point, tag Harris, who may be winning the fight until he gets caught.

If Harris gets brutally ko'd, and I think he will, he's got to hang'em up.

D.McIntosh (+185) medium I'm playing a bit of a feeling here, but I think McIntosh has got the goods to pull the minor upset against Oakey. McIntosh is younger, faster, much taller, and more athletic than Oakey. I though he gave a decent account of himself against Cleverly, more competitive than Oakey actually. Oakey is seemingly on upswing from Prizefighter win, but I don't put much stock in that... Plus fight is just 10 rounds. If it was twelve I would be more concerned about Oakey's experience telling late. I think McIntosh can get out to an early lead here, then stave off a late rally by Oakey to take a close 10 round decision.

Porter-Jordan UNDER 5.5 (-110) - small What Matt said...

more to come...

Harris ready for Matthysse

It?s been a difficult past two years for Vivian Harris as long stretches of inactivity have plagued the former junior welterweight champion, but the proud Guyana native remains undeterred. ?I still consider myself one of the best fighters in the division,? said Harris. ?I have faced some adversity these last two years but I?m still determined. I?m still hungry. I am here and I will be champion again.?

?I?m ready to go,? said Harris Wednesday evening. ?I?m fully prepared for Matthysse. This is my first step back to a world title and I will not be denied.?

Interesting adjustments made at 5d
Ponce UNDER 8.5 instead of 9.5
Matthysse UNDER 5.5 instead of 7.5

The books with different opinions this week
