My strategy for betting boxing...
My strategy for betting boxing...
Its very simple, I will do whatever it takes to make money, scalping...hedging...middling...buying out...etc...
Value...
Its very simple, when I think the number is off, I'll play it regardless of how much I actually like the play. As MF once posted, one thing I'm very good at is predicting line movement. Half of the wagers I place are based strictly on value, knowing full well there's a chance I'll be scalping or hedging it later. For instance, I recently placed a large wager on the Cinrton-Margarito Under 9.5 +125. When I placed the wager, I honestly had no idea what I'd eventually do with that wager, I just knew the line was way off so I invested in it. Just like the stock market, you buy low and sell high. Anyway, as I predicted that line was way off, and now I can get the Cintron-Marg Over 9.5 at +140 setting up a huge scalp. If I was a conventional bettor like Scott-Atlanta I would've missed out on a +125/+140 scalp setting up a shitload of free money with zero risk.
Note 1...I will try to start posting my intentions on the plays I post that have a possibility of being scalped. However, sometimes I post a play that I have full intentions of riding out, and then the line moves so much that I can't pass up the free money. Either way, I'll try to keep my thread updated as to my intentions.
Note 2...Most of the plays I post don't get scalped or hedged, I posted the above for the few times that it does happen
Hedging...
This is a good time to bring up hedging as the last 3 weeks have set up several very solid hedge opportunities. Wilson-Flores...Valuev-Lyakhovich...Navarro-Mijares were all easy money making opportunities without knowing or picking the winner. Here's why...
* Wilson has a world class chin and Flores is not a puncher. So when the books were offering -200 on Wilson and Flores by decision +573 it was easy money regardless of who won
* Valuev has a world class chin and Lyakhovich is not a big puncher. So when the books were offering Valuev -275 and Lyakhovich by decision +550 it was easy money regardless of who won
* Mijares has a great chin and Navarro can't punch at all. So when the books were offering Mijares -400 and Navarro by decision +950 it was easy money regardless of who won
Middles...
They don't happen very often, but 5dimes created a middle opportunity last week and it turned out be a huge payday. Yes, it was risking most of my potential Klitschko profits on Ibrag +24.5 points +140, but it created the best middle I've seen in 5 years. Needless to say, I rolled the dice and doubled my profits
Bottom line is, I will do whatever it takes to make money betting boxing or any other sport. If the more traditional bettors don't like the way I do things, they can simply stay out of my threads. Everyone has different betting strategies, mine has worked well for me so I'll continue to use it, despite the occasional disaproval of others.
