My strategy for betting boxing...

My strategy for betting boxing...

Its very simple, I will do whatever it takes to make money, scalping...hedging...middling...buying out...etc...

Value...

Its very simple, when I think the number is off, I'll play it regardless of how much I actually like the play. As MF once posted, one thing I'm very good at is predicting line movement. Half of the wagers I place are based strictly on value, knowing full well there's a chance I'll be scalping or hedging it later. For instance, I recently placed a large wager on the Cinrton-Margarito Under 9.5 +125. When I placed the wager, I honestly had no idea what I'd eventually do with that wager, I just knew the line was way off so I invested in it. Just like the stock market, you buy low and sell high. Anyway, as I predicted that line was way off, and now I can get the Cintron-Marg Over 9.5 at +140 setting up a huge scalp. If I was a conventional bettor like Scott-Atlanta I would've missed out on a +125/+140 scalp setting up a shitload of free money with zero risk.

Note 1...I will try to start posting my intentions on the plays I post that have a possibility of being scalped. However, sometimes I post a play that I have full intentions of riding out, and then the line moves so much that I can't pass up the free money. Either way, I'll try to keep my thread updated as to my intentions.

Note 2...Most of the plays I post don't get scalped or hedged, I posted the above for the few times that it does happen

Hedging...

This is a good time to bring up hedging as the last 3 weeks have set up several very solid hedge opportunities. Wilson-Flores...Valuev-Lyakhovich...Navarro-Mijares were all easy money making opportunities without knowing or picking the winner. Here's why...

* Wilson has a world class chin and Flores is not a puncher. So when the books were offering -200 on Wilson and Flores by decision +573 it was easy money regardless of who won

* Valuev has a world class chin and Lyakhovich is not a big puncher. So when the books were offering Valuev -275 and Lyakhovich by decision +550 it was easy money regardless of who won

* Mijares has a great chin and Navarro can't punch at all. So when the books were offering Mijares -400 and Navarro by decision +950 it was easy money regardless of who won

Middles...

They don't happen very often, but 5dimes created a middle opportunity last week and it turned out be a huge payday. Yes, it was risking most of my potential Klitschko profits on Ibrag +24.5 points +140, but it created the best middle I've seen in 5 years. Needless to say, I rolled the dice and doubled my profits

Bottom line is, I will do whatever it takes to make money betting boxing or any other sport. If the more traditional bettors don't like the way I do things, they can simply stay out of my threads. Everyone has different betting strategies, mine has worked well for me so I'll continue to use it, despite the occasional disaproval of others.

Looks to me like Raul Martinez- who I'm high on is a bigger dude than his opponent Flores and I think we've been shown that a few pounds in those lower weight classes makes a difference. I saw value at +180 on the under 5dimes- and still +140-at least not laying chalk on an under like usual.

I'm having real trouble seeing Izzy-Rafa going th distance so I think the -265 won't go is a great parlay partner. Just got confirmation-I'm going ringside baby!!!!!!!! See you there Frank.

Long shot of the week- Varela in Japan +1200 or so. Niida should be tops 5 to 1, tops. I see a few SD wins for Niida and Varela's losses are explainable.. for some reason I like the under 11.5 rounds at +225 to cover. Both those guys have head butt TD's on their records.

no matter how good an inside the distance or under looks, lately i feel like a g-damned sucker when i touch one....

still,if this makes it to the final bell given the issues with broken noses/cuts/bruises and swelling through the first 2...the very nature and extent of the mayhem involved in those fights,i`ll be flabbergasted...

i really believe that vasquez is coming and coming hard from the jump...i think he`s confident to the point of overconfidence...

which may be a good thing for marquez...

marquez will HAVE to play matador...he won`t run...he can`t run...not after 40 out of 41 fights as "the hunter"(i think he fought a smart, measured fight in their first match-up)......

i was thankful that vasquez inside was so reasonable(-106)....

puts me in a decent position(that means you can bet the ranch on somebody by decision)..lol

I added Wilson over walker-125. I think Walker is garbage. For the life of me I can't figure out why Showtime keeps showcasing him. The guy is going nowhere. I wagered the good plus ods in the 1st go and won a nice amt on a small play. I was waiting for the weigh in and Wilson came in nearly 20 lbs less than the previous. Med play for me.

my man is really high on Powell-Finley under 6.5

also huge on Cotto-Gomez under 9.5, but I'm waiting a bit longer. I'll make my own write-up as it approaches, Ill probably be on it big. The 10th and 11th rounds could be key, i'd play each of the last 3 rounds Cotto KO as well.

can you elaborate on "your man" I know of Tony Montana's "man:. Is it the Tim guy from NY?

Just saw a weigh in picture of Powell-Finley and that helped me beat down the +160 lines under 5.5 to +130- still not bad.

?My man? is actually a collection of boxing experts and cappers I read from forums and sites. Their plays usually match ones on this forum, when I see new plays I share the more detailed and credible ones here. I?d rather not post links since I don?t know all of them personally and don?t want to be a jerk copying-and-pasting from other forums.

I write ?my man? as a joke and homage to the mysterious ?man?s of betting forums. I?ll say ?the guys? in the future to avoid confusion with tonymanatana?s man.

Is Tim in NY Tim Starks? I haven?t read his stuff, boxlocks mentioned him in another thread. Probably this guy: http://mvn.com/boxing/author/tim.starks/

Patrick Kehoe was mentioned by gardenweasel I believe, the few articles of his I found were terrific, I can?t find him consistently though.

Glad to see you and Zerwas are on the under. What books did you find 5.5 at? The ones I use have 6.5.

I spoke with the guy I was referencing, he OKed me posting the link to his thread. Fullbrights at ********* a great analyst, thread is called "Plays for the week."

I don't intend to shift blame, if I share someone else's losing play, I'll take the heat of course. That's why I didn't give a name initially, so it's still my fault for posting a loser, while not taking credit for winners.

Pulling the Guerrero-Litzua Under

Pulling the Guerrero-Litzua Under

As posted, I have .30 to win .25 on the Under, but after alot of thought and cashing in big on the Powell Under (loaded up right before fight time) I've decided this play is too risky. I still think Guerrero finishes him at some point, but Litzua could get on his bike and stay there after feeling whats coming at him
