Mar looks like he won that wrong. Berra has no shot with that horrible decision in the last round.

I thought all 3 fights had bullshit scoring. I had Forbes edging out Hopkins, Ponce winning clearly against Penalosa but scores were again too wide and then.....

Barrera deserved to beat Marquez! I'm abit pissed tbh I feel bad for the guy, Nady is a fool. Scoring was pathetic again!

On the plus side Lewis Hamilton finished in 3rd in his F1 debut, amazing.

let me start by saying i`ve always been a marquez guy.....i`m biased...love barrera..but marquez(both of em) are my guys....i`ve always followed them....rafael`s upset of tim austin was the highlight of my gambling career...anmong many lowlights...

i thought that barrera would be the quicker guy...and the better boxer...he was....but,i honestly would have given marquez the nod....very close....that`s me..as i said i`m not objective..

the knockdown that was missed was unforgivable.....but,in a strange way,it would have almost been a crime that one punch would completely turn around a round in which marquez beat barrera like a rented mule....

thems the rules,though...

i was wondering which guy would be the aggressor.....two of the great counterpunchers of their time.....

i thought it would be marquez....and i thought, regardless of what barrera said beforehand, that he would box more than brawl(of course,i thought that mormeck would be in fantastic condition...looking fit ain`t always being fit)....

barrera did box beautifully and effectively early....i thought marquez came on very strong in the middle and late rounds...i had him sweeping the last three rounds....how letterman gave barrera the 11th i have no clue....barrera was holding an awful lot late...and looked out of gas...he looked like he was just trying to survive the 12th....

matter of fact, letterman and lampley should be put out to pasture...letterman for saying that barrera was consistently getting off first...when he was counterpunching brilliantly early on...marquez pressed the issue throughout...

and lampley bets on these fights...of that i`m positive....

the scores?....ridiculous.....incredible....unexplainable...

i know that barrera is going into the hall of fame....i hope that this win gets marquez a little closer....he`s a great fighter that didn`t get the most out of his career...

the hopkins fight was fairly close, imo....noy nearly as one-sided as the hbo crew would lead us to believe.....hopkins also came on late..but,by the same token as the marquez/barrera fight, forbes pressed the issue and scored incredibly well to the body....

a reasonbly close forbes win looked about right to me...again,the scores were insane...

holifield just beat maddalone silly....and he hardly used the right hand until the third....

holi actually looked very good vs the set-up....

very satisfying night...i`m glad i got up off the $44.95.....

congrats box.........and franks and lvlarc had nice weekends,too....

everybody did well...

spongy, how`d you make out?...i hope you made a few bucks.....

btw...anybody else think the timekeeper in the mormeck/bell fight was sipping the good stuff?....

i know the fighters weren`t called out of the corner until almost 20 seconds were gone in one round....and the last round ended about 15 to 20 seconds to early....

very strange....

....

....

Not strange it was flat out corrupt. I had no money on that fight but those actions infuriated me. it was very obviously to benefit Mormeck.

I also think you?re exactly right. Location/promotion/money are extremely important when betting boxing, it?s always frustrating to be on the wrong side of the juice.

Weasal i didn't bet any boxing this week. I never like to bet close odds fights for the exact reason what happen last night. Im to tied up with the tournament. Its always my most profitable time of the year and im not to happy with a few mistakes i made this tourney. Friday night killed me. I was well on my way to a sweep and then bang i lose my two best bets. I won money for the week but not nearly as much as im use to in the tourney. Since i have been back capping i still havvent lost two weeks in a row but it was close this week cause i lost last week.

From ringside - Marquez won, and was roundly cheered, as opposed to Hopkins, who lost, and was boo'd mercilessly after the fight.
As far as "money connections" - yes, Oscar owns Golden Boy Promotions, but what you want to point out to make your case - his partner in GBP is a guy named Bernard.

G-Weasel,
I got a call form Arum's office a few years back - they'd seen columns I wrote praising the boxing skills and talent of a little-known kid named Juan Manuel, and how I believe he will beat either Morales or Barrea if given a chance - and they invited me to a luncheon to say "thanks" and to meet Marquez; I was struck by how well spoken, and soft spoken the guy was - an accountant in wolf's clothing.
and your wish is coming true - Merchant will be announcing his "retirement" shortly;
in reality - his contract is not being renewed as he is being put out to pasture, where he belongs.

sonny.....marquez missed the boat in some`s eyes...(when considering his legacy).....by not being involved in the barrera/morales round robin until well into his 30`s...

not mine...

whether it was mismanagement,or whatever,it`s ashamed....i know that many, like naseem hamed avoided him like the ebola virus....

and it broke my heart to see him lose to chris john(by all acounts really a win) in indonesia.....

still, for my money,he`s about as beautiful a fighter to watch....as beautiful(in the classic latin style) as an arguello or a ricardo lopez....as i`ve ever seen... every punch in the book...

imo,he`s a hall of famer..and "may" well have been the best of the bunch....we were blessed to see three guys this good come along in the same era...reminds me of hearns, leonard and benitez....

and to a lesser extent(lesser talents, but lord, what brutal fights),the light heavies of the 70`s/ 80`s....matt franklin/marvin johnson/eddie gregory/yaqui lopez/victor galindez/jorge ahumada/mike rossman/eddie and johnny davis, richie kates, lotte mwale...john conteh from england..the original tony mundine.....and james scott in rahway st. prison....and dwight braxton toward the end of the run.....and many more.....more vicious fights from this group than any other weight class i ever saw...

unbelievable...

i want to to see hot humberto soto in with pacquaio...maybe manny`s to quick..a little out of soto`s league.... but,i know i`d gladly pay to find out...

I got to see this fight again(Berrara/Marquez). I don't even remember posting what i posted. I remember the Hopkins fight clearly but i started having a few beers which i havent had for a few weeks and then my brother gave me this Wonder Pill and said it would relax me and i think it put me in a comma. Anyone ever take a totem pole? Don't drink with them sheese.

Obviously "totem pole" is the street slang name for your pill so its hard to tell, but if you're referring to the long, skinny, white pill that splits into 4 segments and knocks you the f*ck out...

Yes, I have...enjoyed it thoroughly
