Sheika stopped in the 5th round. Wasn't hurt at all but was cut and took a couple of shots. Very quick hook - actually unnecessary. It's good to watch this online because I just couldn't pay for that drivel. Sheika not even given a chance by local official. Shameful exhibition. And as I said, he wasn't hurt one iota.

Don't think mixing boxing and MMa is such a great idea. Shows u how a really boring MMA match can rile a crowd up. At least have two MMA guys who won't create a bore fest. Im not sure Munson has fought and exciting fight in his life.

Damn, that was a really bad stoppage
at least give him a chance

Ridiculous

UNFCKING BELIEVABLE. RJ paid off that crook of a ref. I dont think Ive ever seen a worse stoppage than that horsesht.

I think he paid off Bob Sheridan as well. The guy is one joke of an announcer.

Great strt to the week w/a horrible finish. My parlays might get me to even. Fck I was up a ton. I took fight goes dst. Fck that horrendous call on the ref.

BULLSHIT stoppage and horrible day.
It happens...back at it again next week.
Still way up for the year.

Big losses today for me on Cordoba, Flores under 7.5.
Small losses on Sheika and JC Gomez.
Thankfully, Friday was good to me with a gift in the Beltran fight, Abregu in Argentina, and the French doggie beating Napa.
My Flores/Abregu/Beltran parlay saved the weekend and brings me just about even. If Beltran didn't get that split, it would have been a classified BAD week.

And the one bet I was thinking about - Roy/Sheika does not go 12 - i pulled back on at the last minute.
Oh well.

Not fun giving all Friday's winnings back, but better than a losing week.
Hope some of you guys faired better than I did.

I just heard
Echols smashed Karmazin and dropped him hard midway through the fight !

UNBELIEVABLE.

I guess Karmazin has recovered, and will likely win a decision...but man....the old war horse still has power

hope this doesn't encourage Echols to keep fighting.

Karmazin just stopped Echols a few rounds later.
Wow, guy obviously has some serious chin issues.

Please someone at the Playboy Mansion pull Echols aside and tell him to hang up the gloves.

Enough is enough.

Agreed. I had to comment because I think "The Colonial" is the absolute worst. Not only does he not really "see" what is going on or know what he's talking about, he is a major shill for whoever hires him.

As some one said above, they were going to get Sheika out of there at the first opportunity. Sheika was losing but he had moments and actually seemed the physically stronger man. Sheika would have kept bulling Jones to the ropes, and some of that stuff was landing.

It's certainly not like the days of old when you couldn't hit Jones in the ass with a handful of rice no matter where he was in the ring.

Argentine welterweight Sebasti?n Luj?n (31-5-1, 19 KOs ) won a close fight against Venezuelan Charlie Navarro (17-3-0, 12 KOs) by majority decision in the main event of ?Rosario de Nocauts? promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, Aranno Promotions and HBO. Judges Edgardo Codutti and Adalberto Lleonart scored it 116-112 for Luj?n, Ram?n Cerd?n had it 114-114.
???-

I was a bit afraid to bet Lujan in this fight. Both fighters from Argentina this weekend, Abregu and Lujan, were around -900 at the books. Abregu clearly had an easier time.

I think Lujan is now being over-priced due to beating Castillo. Castillo is totally shopworn, and made Lujan look better than he is.

Weekend Review:

-More than a couple boxing people have told me they scored the FNF for Roman. Clearly. I feel very fortunate that Beltran got the nod there.

-I underestimated Vitali, and I'm not sure I will do it again. He is calculating and very determined in there. Loved the way he blew off the ref after the point deduction, then just stepped in and blasted Gomez out of there. Cold-hearted.

-It seems like a simple thing, but I forget it sometimes. We saw once again how important home court advantage is in boxing. Disgustingly important actually. Both in Ireland and Pensacola, Florida.

In Ireland, Dunne really shocked me. Absolutely shocking and amazing effort. All credit to him.
Hard to believe Cordoba outboxed and went 12 with the beast Caballero, and little Dunne overwhelms him for the title.

I do think this this is the type of performance Dunne will never match again. He, and the crowd, dragged Cordoba into a war. When Cordoba was boxing and moving forward, he was winning the rounds easily and doing beautiful work. I would love to know what the card were.

I really do think the crowd pushed Dunne to a level beyond himself.
The Irish announcing was some of the most biased and disgusting commentating I have ever heard. ever.

-As for the Pensacola fight, the hometown BS was EVEN WORSE. Listen, Sheika was clearly going to lose. But, as Kramden mentioned, he was not hurt at all and doing good work on the ropes. All it takes is one shot. The ref robbed him of that opportunity. Really awful stuff. Of course, nothing will be done about it, because few people actually paid for this debacle.

I gotta agree with Sponge. If they are going to be events like that, I don't think these hybrid MMA/boxing cards are a very good idea.

-It also hurt that a couple money-makers (Ustinov, Raul Garcia, the possible dog Kim) fell thru last minute. I've mentioned this before, but my major problem with these last minute boxing cancellations is, at some books, my money is now held up for a period of 60 days. 5dimes does not do this. They, rightfully cancel the bet. But, at sportsbetting.com, any parlay that I have Ustinov or Kim in will now be in "limbo" for a period of 60 days. Stupid stupid rule. Wish they would change the void bet policy there.

My two gambling regrets this weekend (I always have a few!):

1. Going too large on the Flores Under. My two large bets for the weekend were Cordoba and the Flores under. I can't feel bad about the Cordoba one. Seconds away from winning there. But Flores is a complete piece of crap and I regret banking on his sorry ass.

2. Not taking the Jones Jr-Sheika WILL NOT GO 12 prop. I thought about it and thought about it. gardenweasel brought it up, and I was very close to jumping on it. I should have gone with my instincts there.

Live and learn. Bet another day.

I'm glad you started those weekends reviews Ghost.
Good stuff mate.

This was my third bad weekend in the row so I wouldn't mention my regrets.

I just want to mention how unprepared Vitali looked to me. He was breathing heavily in the 2nd round already and he looked confused and in trouble first two rounds. He did OK in the end because of his fighting heart and experience. He looked like old champ ready to be taken young hungry contender. Luckily for him Gomes is not young and didn't look particularly hungry also. I was surprised how slow he was.

Thanks brother. I enjoy writing a review. It gives me some perspective. I'm always trying to learn from my mistakes...as well as the successes of others.

I agree with you on Vitali. He did look tired throughout. But he is also REALLY effective and hard to put gloves on. Ugly style for sure - but I think very hard to beat.

Here is a link to the fight of the weekend: Dunne vs. Cordoba in Ireland.

i thought vitali was never in any trouble and totally dominated and eventually took a very good fighter`s heart....

just goes to show that 2 people can watch the same fight and see it completely differently...

Excellent commentary. You should start a column Ghost. My week was phonomenal.... until Dunne did me in. I had more on the fight than I had thought....essentially wagered my entire weeks winnings on that one. My standing parlays should bring me to even. Props to Dunne for fighting above himself. I agree, he will never reach that level again. The top guys will thrash him. Can you imagine him going against Vasquez or Marquez? Even Molitor will get him out of there. He is still chinny and will need to be carefully matched. The Sheika stoppage was absurd and blatantly corrupt. My regret for the week was not hedging after being up a bundle. I got greedy and went for the monster week instead of settling on a very good one. No crying in boxing wagering...we learn from our mistakes and move on to next week. Plenty of excellent value coming up!

Old dirty-no offense but I disagree w/your take on Vit. He always looks gassed...nothing new for him. I thought he did a great job against a top underrated fighter. I think Graham hit the nail on the head w/his comments on the fight. Vit is the class of the division. He doesn't look pretty but he's very effective and it's incredibly hard for anybody to get inside on him.

I might be wrong, of course, but I got a feeling that Vitali's camp was like low intensity workouts. With his injury history this is probably logical thing to do. But it could cost him if he fights under 30 years old fighter who is active during the whole round. On the other hand it will not be easy to find young guy with size and good enough technique to touch Vitali often enough.

Vitali said he wants to fight Valuev next and this would be a pretty interesting fight . Sad but I think at this point Valuev would win by decision unless Vitali can fight different style .

Klitschko can only fight with his hands low these days against midgets who cant even reach his head and even if they do once in a while he has tough enough chin not to get KOed . Valuev can jab all day here if Vitali fights like he did in his last 2 fights .
