Ronnie Shields injured!
Ronnie Shields, trainer for lightweight champ Juan Diaz, slipped in the lobby of his hotel and fractured his right foot. He will work Diaz?s corner this evening against Nate Campbell - seated in a wheelchair. Shields? injury is the latest incident in a string of tribulations leading up to tonight?s fight in Cancun Mexico, most notably the ongoing dispute between Diaz?s manager Willie Savannah and Don King. At yesterday?s weigh-in, King positioned several placards in front of the stage with messages that took shots at Diaz and Savannah. Regarding all the pre-fight drama, Shields told the Houston Chronicle: ?There?s plenty happening around here. But Juan is looking good. He?s in great shape. He?s ready to go.?

King dumps Juan Diaz!
Promoter Don King made a surprise announcement on Wednesday that he will no longer represent undefeated unified lightweight world champion Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz after his match on Saturday with Nate "Galaxxy Warrior" Campbell in Cancun, Mexico. King has represented Diaz since September 2006, and it is highly unusual for him to give up on a star client without an attempt to keep him in his stable of fighters. King made the announcement at the final press conference for the event, named "History in Cancun."
King then announced his resignation.
"I bring this up to you today because, like Fred Levin, I have made a decision to no longer promote Juan Diaz after Saturday's fight. And it's not because I wouldn't like to continue to work with Juan. It's for the same reason the esteemed Fred Levin quit. I will no longer work with Juan's manager Willie Savannah."

Needless to say, I'm a little worried about my Diaz parlay. Campbell is a DK fighter, so there's plenty to be concerned about here. My play on Diaz was partly based on the DK promotion and location of the fight. Now the DK factor is working against me, and I never bet against the juice...esp DK. A small hedge on Campbell +400 is a must given the situation
My parlay with Diaz is risking 1.35 to win 1.0
Hedge 25% of profits....Campbell +400...lay .25 to win 1.0
