a link to some photos of the weigh in.....

is it possible that braithwaite wasn`t aware that the limit was 200?.......mormeck looks strong.....but his speed might be compromised....

i hope braithwaite didn`t dry out to make 188....

i`m not so sure about this going 12....i see the logic....but,i think maybe somebody goes......if braithwaite breaks that hand again, you`ve got a good shot at it,though...

my play is braithwaite....not sure if i`m playing props....

i think the biggest thing Braithwaite's weight tells us, is that he is in great shape, stamina wise. would like to see what he weighs tonight, but I don't think showtime does that. hopefully Mormeck will be even slower. but his strength is his only advantage, so he is trying to use it.

should be a good fight. can't wait. good luck

one last diatribe...

one last diatribe...

trying to convince myself about braithwaite...lol

i`m a little befuddled by all the "mormeck is a beast and braithwaite will be running" stuff....i know that mormeck looks like lou ferrigno....but,in europe...21 k.o.`s in 30 wins isn`t mind-bending power...he couldn`t get 41 yr old virgil hill out at 196....

braithwaite has been k.o.`ing everyone....he probably would have k.o.`ed louis azille again if he hadn`t broken his left hand....had him down in the 3rd(the round that he broke the hand)....and he`s left handed...azille weighed in in the 190`s....another guy that looks like a body builder...

to me...just looking at the records...and just recently having seen some films of mormeck,i`m thinking he may get ktfo....i didn`t see the chin tuck that another friend mentioned...he was face first coming at virgil hill..and a little wild and wide with his punches......and hill was going toe to toe with him...hill isn`t exactly ernie shavers in the power dept...maybe it was very late in the fight and both were tired...

i`m now thinking that if mormeck comes at braithwaite like that,he`d better get off first...because,braithwaite hits like a mule...legit one punch k.o. power...

the 3 questions tht dog me are 1)...will the hand be resilient?...2)i only saw some snippets of mormeck and it was probably late in the hill fight when both were exhausted...3)neither guy`s opponents are really jaw dropping good...

mormeck has beaten an old hill twice...once by a slip called a knockdown by all reports....and i have to say that i don`t think that a 41 yr old hill could beat braithwaite with a baseball bat...my understanding was that hill looked terrible in the close fight...what does that say about mormeck?

gurov is allegedly a good fighter...even though he went to england and was knocked out in one round by terry dunstan......and was knocked out in 2 by an old nate miller...miller then proceeded to lose 5 of his next 6 fights and retired...?????

braithwaite has beaten azille twice...once a blow-out...once a boxing lesson with one hand...azille lost a split decision to tough kelvin davis...his only other losses were to braithwaite...

he blew out a decent ravea springs......and chased vicente cannatore all over the ring in italy....

both beat dale brown by 8th round stoppage...from what i read, braithwaite was dominating...mormeck had to come from behind....maybe he`s lucky that brown didn`t have big power...

no o` neil bell`s on that record...even though kelvin davis almost beat bell....ravea springs also beat davis...and was blown out by braithwaite..

nothing changes my mind about braithwaite...if the hand holds up...

the 188 still has me flummoxed... but, that`s the weight that braithwaite has consistently been at...maybe he figured that he`s better off at his natural weight....

or maybe i`m whistling past the graveyard....maybe i`m completely off base on mormeck....probably..the oddsmakers made him almost even money....they`ve seen more of him than i have....

we`ll see tonight....should be very interesting....

this thing starts at 11 p.m. eastern...will there be another bout on the card?...collazo/rivera or karmazin/holmes hopefully?...

gurov, with the bad chin, kept Mormeck off him for the first 6 rounds, just going backwards and throwing lots of punches. he got tired and started taking a beating on the ropes, but Mormeck never put him down. I think Mormeck can go the distance, but Braithwaite always likes to move, even with slugging. of course he drops his hands too, lol. Braithwaite is the biggest puncher in the division. I took Braithwaite by decision, because I didn't want to bet him at -130. If I lose going for the +300, then oh well I said to myself.

Rivera-Collazo

Rivera-Collazo

Its getting close to fight time so I'll make it simple...

*Rivera is not that good and he doesn't have much power. In 1999 Rivera lost a MD to Patrick Coleman and in 2000 he lost a UD to Robert Frazier. Last year Frazier drew with Primera and Collazo beat Primera convincingly.

*Collazo is a southpaw who should be an inch or so taller. He has been active. Rivera hasn't fought in 18 months and he was off 14 months prior to that fight.

*There was some late money on Collazo. This fight is in Rivera's home town and he's the defending champion but the line only opened at -450 or so. Even more interesting is that the line didn't move in favor of Rivera once this week.

*Collazo was stopped 3 years ago by Edwin Cassiani but he was only 20 years old at the time and it was early in his career, he admits Cassiani was too big of a step up at the time and he shouldn't have taken the fight. He has fought 10 times since then and has beat the likes of Marcos Primira and Felix Flores. Not exactly top level guys but decent competition.

*Rivera deosn't have much power...
After going the distance with and losing to Frazier and Coleman, Rivera went the distance in his next 3 fights against mediocre competition...

Tommy Artardo has been stopped 3 times in his career but he went the full 8 with Rivera.

Angel Beltre has been stopped 14 times in his brilliant career but Rivera couldn't get it done.

Patrick Byrd has been stopped twice in his career including a 2nd round thumping by Dexter Williams who is now 8-15-3. Byrd fought Rivera in his very next fight and went the full 12.

Rivera then stopped Frankie Randal in the 10th round. Randal usually gets taken out by the 7th.

After that Rivera stopped a couple of scrubs that didn't have a chance before winning a close decision to over rated Michael Trabant.

I expect this to be a close fight, but Rivera is promoted by King and the fight is in his back yard so I dought Collazo will win a decision. And since he's not really a power puncher and Rivera has a great chin, I dought he'll stop Rivera. So I won't play Collazo, but I'll play the over and Rivera by decision expecting Collazo to hang in there.

i remember the trabant fight...lol...i knew then that rivera wasn`t real championship material...he`s not a legit world class fighter......that`s what ibased my opinion on.....only,trabant was worse...

the over 8.5 or 9.5 should get home,imo....the odds are certainly playable...

karmazin edges holmes....the over 11.5 was the other end of my parlay.....along with a flatl play on the over.....

now,if braithwaite can do his job,it will be a wonderful night....

good job on betting karmazin......it looked like a toss-up to me....

Thanks my man!

Hell, if I knew I was going to sweep the board on my original bets I wouldn't have posted the Rivera play.
Oh well, I'll turn a nice profit regardless of the Rivera outcome.

I'm leaving the Braithwaite-Mormeck fight alone, but I'll be rooting for you and Braithwaite. I hope he gets it done, if the hand holds up I think he will. The fact that Mormeck had problems with and almost lost to 41 year old Hill makes me wonder why the odds are so low. What are we missing...maybe nothing. I might put a small personal bet on Braith but nothing big.

well....when you`re wrong,you`re wrong....and i was way wrong....

mormeck imposed his will...he was stronger....quicker...threw straighter shots...

his defense was superior....

he dominated....and will dominate every time these guys fight....

braithwaite fought stupid....from throwing alot of meaningless punches in round one....to throwing wide shots at a guy that keeps his hands closed and up....to laying on the ropes way to much........

mormeck`s defense was the key...braithwaite was frustrated...

this was the guy that struggled with 41 year old virgil hill?....

i hope nobody went heavy on my say so...

hats off...

i`m waiting for one fight to get lined this week that will be a big play...if the odds are right...

congrats to mormeck...he was far superior...braithwaite looked like sh-t...

to many people that follow boxing saw this the same way..the kiss of death...

yeah. braithwaite should have saved his power, instead of unloading in the 1st. he should have used it only when MOrmeck pinned him. i give mormeck great credit. he was in shape and he needs some more fights on the great showtime.

i will just start tailing the great boxlox. he is like a king.

braithwaite needed to throw straight shots ....to split mormeck`s gloves....and uppercuts inside....

instead ,when mormeck went into his "earmuff" defense he tried to punch around rather than through....

not sure it would have mattered...braithwaite didn`t have it....

apparently,a bad style match-up....

Nice work your boxness! Thanx for the Collazo over bet. Did'nt p lay much else, my bad. Looking ahead I lean towards Cintron and Ruiz. I may be out in left field, but as good as Toney is, he is chubby! Await your next prognostications.

Just to let you guys know how much I enjoy reading your posts and insights. I remember watching the fri. nite fights sponsored by Gillette with my Dad. He loved Carmen B., Sugar Ray R.,
Floyd P. Oh yeah, the coattailing hasn't been too shabby either. Keep up the good work.
