Congrtats ALL around today...Andrey, Matt, Ghost, Punch, Quanah, Old Dirty and anybody else I may have missed...:mj06: :mj06: :mj06:
Been a very good week with Danny Green and Thompson :00hour :00hour :00hour

Hopefully Gut will make it a great week. Not a bundle on him but I think he's very live. Stieg has had a resurge in his last few but he also has a few miles on those wheels.

Just watched Guerrero nearly put Walker in his grave. How many shots does a guy have to take to get a towel or ref stoppage...JEEEEEEEEZ:shrug:
Guerrero reminds me of my favorite fighter James Kirkland...speaking of, he should be getting out of the slammer pretty soon :00hour

Finally, I get to post my takes?

Bute vs. Miranda
Goossen IMO really is a good trainer.
I?m not sure if Miranda is really done, but he faces a very tough task on Saturday.
Bute is getting better and better and he?s punching harder lately as well?
My guess is that Bute will eventually force a stoppage in a fight where Miranda tries to box a bit?

Spada Zbik
I thought Spada won a very close call last time, but I really wasn?t surprised by the decision.
Zbik claims that he was not at his best, but he failed to impress me in his last fight as well, so?.
Spada wants to win badly and the odds look tempting. I played Spada last time (for a small amount only).
I guess we will see another competitive fight.
A draw looks like a real possibility here!

Gutknecht vs. Stieglitz
Stieglitz looked a lot stronger in his last two bouts IMO. He?s certainly punching with more authority than he did early in his career and I must say, I?m impressed that he was able to comeback stronger after the Berrio and Andrade defeats.
That being said, he?s still nothing special.
Gutknecht looks like a handful for him, he has got decent boxing skills and ?very importantly ? good stamina, although he looks a bit stiff.
It?s very hard IMO to figure who the homefighter is. The fight is in Stieglitz hometown of Magdeburg and Stieglitz is the champ, but Gutknecht is promoted by the powerful Universum boxpromotion, whereas Stieglitz is only with SES.
I guess, Gutknecht (WPTS and straight) is worth a modest play, draw also a possibility.

Pavlik vs. Martinez
I?m kind of torn on this one.
I expect Martinez to dominate early and Pavlik to come back strong in the second part of the fight.
There are two scenerios. Either Pavliks wears Martinez down for a late stoppage or the fight goes to the cards with either fighter winning a close call.
I made a lot of minor bets on this fight. Pavilk straight, over 11.5, Martinez WPTS, Pavlik ko, Pavlik 7-12 and fight ends in MD / SD.

Just read that Teddy Atlas picked Martinez to win.
Is Teddy as bad as Kellerman used to be!?

oh and BTW, great catch on the Thompson Under and Thompson!

Old Dirty - Nice call on Vassell. Purdy was tough, but Vassell came thru.

Kramden - I would've like to have seen odds on Savi-Thomas too. I would've gone on Savi, who probably would have been a small doggie.

Ghost - Can't believe Thompsonn opened at -350. :scared :scared :scared

Martinez looks pretty damn confident and it's real. I still like Pav to come on in the 2nd half and win the fight but no wager for me. Graham and Evan on the doggie.

I joined the Bute express. I watched Mirandas 1st rd ko in his last go and to be honest, I wasn't really impressed. It doesn't take much at all to back him off and keep him off balance. He won't be able to handle Butes volume IMO. Miranda cant reinvent himself. Like GW eloquently put it, "you can put some feathers up his ass, but it still doesn't make him a chicken"...:mj07: Bute in about 8 rds IMO...not a huge wager but still able to hit it @-600. Bute itd -160 is VERY tempting.

Anybody know when Gut/Stieg is on?

I added two plays:

GUTKNECHT
and
ST. JUSTE

not much else to be said about Gut. I agree with his chances, like everyone else. Go doggie.

After researching the other bout, I agree with weepaul. Miranda has been KO'ed in 4 of his 5 losses. He's pretty damn crappy. St Juste. is old, but I've seen him before and he is capable and can bang. That will be enough here. Also a revenge factor, as the Canadians don't like Miranda. He got a questionable decision over Demers.

BUTE also to finish several parlays. Both Mirandas are getting KOed in Canada tonight.

"the bunker"

if you look really closely at pavlik`s record,it`s not an overwhelming resume.....certainly not comensurate with his rep.....

best wins were over taylor(who we now know isn`t/wasn`t the fighter that everyone thought he was coming off an excellent amateur career)....

has good whiskers...nice power...he does very well vs guys that stand in front of him(including taylor who was too dense to use movement vs pavlik)....miranda/rubio/zertouche/zuniga/mccart...
i wouldn`t call that a murderers row...but not necessarily his fault...middleweight is as barren a division as they come....the antithesis of 168,a division in which pavlik, despite the frame for it,has yet to tread(sans the bhop catchweight fight)....

other than making his bones on taylor and his embarrassment vs hopkins, there isn`t a ton of substance there...lots of one dimensional, peripheral level opponents....he`s been matched very favorably...and other than mckart, not many lefties in there.....

he is the bigger man here,though......the bigger puncher......durable...

it`s gonna be interesting...i could see pavlik struggling early....martinez` cardio could be the determining factor...if kelly whacks martinez,it`d be a real nice notch on his resume...

rnd 2 Gut and Steiglitz
I missed rnd 1
very aggressive battle
I can't see this going the distance if they are going to fight like this
hammering each other with right hands

good fight

Gut won the first with some nice combos but stegliez answers in the second.
He is connecting with some heavy punches.
Not much boxing they really go at it. 1 1 after 2
