Well one thing I have said for over a year is that Allan Green is a C level fighter, and I was right.
The guy can't beat ONE person in this tournament, and I could name about six other guys that would also wax him.
Big mouth, little skill.
I thought Ward should have taken him out.
Hell he might not even have beaten Bika. He was lucky they just gave him a free entry into the tourney.
You just knew this was coming. The guy who said he was the "most avoided super middle" in the world. This guy is filled to the rim with bullshit.
"I've had three training camps since December, and that really made me feel weak,'' Green said. "I had to stop running about three weeks ago because I was feeling so weak in training camp. I wasn't feeling right, and I knew coming into this fight that I wasn't feeling my best," Green said.
"Andre Ward showed me a lot of things that I know about, a lot of things I can deal with, but a lot of things I couldn't react to because I was feeling extremely weak. I'm not trying to take anything away from him, that's just how I felt.''
Masterful performance...probably the best @168 since RJJ. I can only see Chad Dawson beating this guy...Lucien Bute will probably lose his 0 if he fights this kid.
I have to saw the crowd made the fight even better. Oakland really supports Ward.
I wanted the late KO by Ward and I really thought he had a chance in rounds 5-7 to wear Green down because Ward was landing some good shots. The ref definately let them fight inside which was good, but the ref allowed Green to hold too much in the last 4 rounds when Green was just posturing and surviving.
Also, Ward is almost a complete fighter. His left hook is by far his best punch and the his uppercut when he had Green on the ropes was good. I would of loved to see him work on a double left hook to the body and then up top to the head. Tyson, who I am not comparing Ward too, was great at that combination and I think Ward could be a better fighter if he used that more. That being said, Ward dominated the fight and after the 4 rounds Green really never tried to win. I was hoping Green would open up and let his hands go in the later rounds, so Ward could take advantage, but Green became just a sparring partner and was unwilling to throw bombs. Green definately has stamina issues, but if Green can't put it on the line for a shot at the title, when will he go for broke. Sorry, but it is hard to respect boxers like Green that don't have that fighting spirit to persevere. Rocky Marciano once said:
"To win takes a complete commitment of mind and body. When you can't make that commitment, they don't call you a champion anymore."
