Hey Box;
I been observing your glove-capping and although I have jumped on a few (thanks), I have trouble finding books with variety. More specifically, 'winning within distance'. I have Pinnacle and OLY accounts. Your email isn't listed. If you send me your list I'd appreciate it.

Be carefull if you want to bet a guy to win by decision though. It has to go all 10 or 12 rounds to be a winner. If there is a headbutt, and it's a technical decision, you would lose your bet.

"the bunker"
here`s an interesting comparison that one boxing writer cited....

makes you think a little...

"""Like Tszyu, both Eusebio Pedroza and Antonio Cervantes had established themselves as master boxer-punchers when they headed into the backyards of relatively untested, thrilling, volume punching challengers Barry McGuigan and Aaron Pryor...... Pedroza at 32 was making his 19th title defense with a title fight record of 19-1 as he headed to London in 1985 to face a 25-year old McGuigan who had become a symbol of cultural unity between England and Northern Ireland..... Cervantes at 34 was making the seventh defense of his second title reign, and with a title fight record of 19-1 when he met the 25-year old Aaron Pryor in 1980..... Tszyu at 35 is making the 10th defense of his second title reign against the 26-year old Hatton, including his unification efforts against Mitchell and Judah in 2001, with a title fight record of 16-1""".....

it`s an interesting comparison...not sure that either pedroza or cervantes had tszyu`s power....

but,as i said,it makes you think a bit...

not sure on the Harrison-Brodie fight. Harrison has no defense, so Brodie will be able to land his punches. but Harrison is tough and has a good chin. Brodie was hurt by Injin Chi, but never gave up and showed ton's of heart. I think both guys will hurt each other. should be a good fight.

playing the under 9.5 rounds on the Hatton-Tszyu fight. Both guys have bad defense. Ricky is always open for the right hand when he is coming in. I think both guys will be bombing early. Tszyu has good defense when he works behind the jab. but Hatton has good movement, so I don't think Kostya can keep him out for very long.

good luck guys

I assume you are talking about their first fight

In the rematch, Injin Chi KO'd Brodie in the 7th

he took a horrible beating in the 2nd fight, which most men would have found a way out of a lot sooner. He took a lot of punches in the 1st fight as well. just my opinion. I believe he showed heart in both fights. mabye the 1st Chi fight took a lot out of him, and maybe Harrison and Frank Warren know it.
I might put some on Brodie. He has what it takes to win this fight, or at least he did.

Tszyu-Hatton props at 5Dimes

Tszyu-Hatton props at 5Dimes

If we are looking at a Tszyu stoppage inside the 12, maybe we can use some of the props posted.
You can play Tszyu by KO in the later rounds for some heavy odds. Also if we played the under 8.5-112, we might still be able to turn a profit. Of course this implies you have a strong opinion that Kostya will win AND win by whack(KO). I can't recall ever seeing Ricky fight, but if he implements the torrid pace I am hearing so much about, how long can it go? I know my bro boxie is on Kostya inside, which is by ko, dq or tko, of course. Anyone with an account at 5Dimes who is interested, please peruse the props and put your 3 cents in. The bet numbers in question are 501-624.

Hatton has a young Tyson type of style. side to side movement, moving the head, coming in and firing at angles. He punches just as hard as Cotto does at that weight. Tszyu can kayo anybody if he lands the right way, his power is that good. Tszyu has a questionable chin, but he gets up and fights back harder.

Kostya doesn't move backwards. He can box by taking one step backwards and creating distance, but he won't be moving around the ring/ and or backwards. Ricky says he wants to mix up boxing and slugging, but the guy has never thrown a soft punch in his life.

Ricky scoring a kayo is not out of the question for me. both guys will be able to land early and often. If Kostya can't keep Ricky out with a jab, then he will go back to slugging straight up. Those are his only 2 options cause that's all he can do, but he's damn good at it. I would like to see Ricky make it an inside fight and look to do his own damage. maybe people have convinced him he can't fight inside with Tszyu. I disagree.

I can see it going either way. Kostya is a great finisher. Hatton is under-rated in my opinion. Kostya has always been rocked by big punchers. and Ricky is one.

early finish, for sure. who wins ? i can't make a decision.

"the bunker"
spread...i don`t disagree that hatton could shock the world..particularly at m.e.n.....the place will be an insane asylum...

but i kind of disagree on the "hatton power" and "tszyu limited boxing ability" stuff...no,not really disagree...just see it as not as pronounced..

i`m not saying hatton doesn`t have power...he does...mostly and particularly to the body...imo,it`s his energy and workrate that are amazing..

tszyu can box...he`s technically sound..throws very straight punches...and that,if i were hatton,is what would concern me...because hatton`s a bit of a "hooker"...he does his business with that left hook...seems like he sometimes tries to throw to many hard shots...but,it works for him...his stamina is excellent...along with his hook to the body, his greatest asset..

..tszyu does mostly come forward.....mostly because guys are leery of his power and he gets mucho respect.......his power is his game,no doubt...

but i mentioned to box...and i`ll say it here....that recently, most of your upsets have come when the dog comes out aggressively and takes the fight to the favorite...

brewster/golota....both glen johnson fights with jones and tarver...mormeck vs braithwaite..winky stood his ground with trinidad..barrera jumping on morales took him out of the fight early..pacquaio jumping on marquez...

when vince phillips beat tszyu,he went to war with him and just outlasted kostya....kostya had to fight a hard pace...and he was the one that wilted...

we saw what happened when mitchell tried to be cute and clever with tszyu...he walked through him...

hatton`s workrate...his youth...that homecourt advantage..and that bodywork...he`s not coming into this without some edges...

guys like tszyu, marquez, jones, tarver and trinidad are used to getting mad respect in the ring...they like to set their own pace and are usually allowed to do just that...they get so much respect from opponents..

i think that if hatton`s smart,he`ll come out firing and try and seize an advantage..set the tone...go to tszyu`s 35 year old body hard...it`s dangerous...but,he`s here to win...

this is a different fight than tszyu vs mitchell...this looks to be a hard, physical fight...while it lasts..

and do we really know whether,at 35,kostya is up to it after one short fight off a long layoff?.....

after being wowed by the mitchell destruction,i`m not so sure that it didn`t leave more ???? than answers...

my intial gut was tszyu inside the distance...along with many other guys....

but guys have hung in with tszyu`s power before... and he is 35....

after playing tszyu several ways early on,i`m kind of looking for a hedge...

i don`t see hatton playing cutey...i see a rough and tumble, tszyu dropping bombs and hatton wailing away to the body kind of fight..not an easy fight for either guy......

close, hard combat....a battle of attrition..if i were hatton`s people,i`d go for it....do what you do best...apply pressure...crowd tszyu...wear him down...don`t give him room to onleash that right hand...stay on his chest...

or,get inside and then get the hell out...never stand at arms length...tszyu needs a little room to punch..

i can see why you are looking at the under...

and if you see this as a toss-up,maybe some pocket change on hatton might not be a bad idea...

excellent....i`m shocked that it apparently was very easy.....

now, that leaves a 3-way parlay with tszyu and tyson under 3.5 getting +6.5 to 1....

and another with hatton and tyson under 3.5 getting 15-1....

whoa...if tyson f-cks me,i`ll bite the bastid`s ear off....

don`t feel bad,spread...i don`t think harrison is much at all, either....the parlay was a gift from a sharp friend....wouldn`t have used harrison myself if not for the tip...

apparently,it was easier for harrison than in jin chi...and that`s a bit surprising.....unless chi did some monumental damage in those 2 fights...

I heard Brodie won most of the first 3 rounds. got hurt to the body and really didn't want to fight on. I'm sure Harrison and his promoter knew Brodie was at the end of his punishment taking stick, otherwise they would have gotten Salvador Sanchez corpse to fight. a prime brodie would have taken harrison down.

end this nightmare someone. damn melvina lathan 115-113 harrison over polo. stupid judge. she's hot for an old bag, but she sucks as a judge.

the cat that ate the canary.....

the cat that ate the canary.....

Not for anything, but at fightnews.com, there is a pic of Tszyu and Hatton. Kostya looks like the proverbial canary. Of course it may be just the photos lack of clarity, but he was also over weight, albeit by 3 stinking ounces! Hmmm; when has Tszyu EVER stepped on the scales and not made weight first go round? Maybe it has occurred, but I don't recall when. I truly detest going against my man, his boxness, but there may be cause for contemplation here. Well, just the mumblings of an old senile SOB, which I am.

Fight Time

Fight Time

Just strikes me as odd that the Kostya Tszyu/Ricky Hatton fight will start at 2:00 A.M. England time. The fight is in England. Must be die-hard boxing fans over there to stay up that late to watch a fight.

Outstanding call box on last nites bout(Harrison). I recall Tszyu and Judah fighting on the same card a couple of years ago. Judah fights first and dismantles his opponent. Tszyu comes on and the camera pans to Judah sitting in the audience poking fun at Tszyu by demonstrating how Tszyu would hold his arm straight out to measure his guy. Judah is laughing at his style. Tszyu went on to win, but it really wasn't pretty. Seems he had to work harder than expected. I wondered if Tszyu, knowing he would fight Judah, wasn't being very shrewd and just MAKING it look tough to stop his guy. May sound farfetched, but Judah comes to his fight with Tszyu totally overconfident and cocky, not that this is out of character for Zab. We all know what happened! Did Tszyu come in 3 ounces over to give Hatton a false impression? I just love conspiracy theory.I recant and stick with boxie and go with Kostya by whack.
