I heard Brodie won most of the first 3 rounds. got hurt to the body and really didn't want to fight on. I'm sure Harrison and his promoter knew Brodie was at the end of his punishment taking stick, otherwise they would have gotten Salvador Sanchez corpse to fight. a prime brodie would have taken harrison down.

end this nightmare someone. damn melvina lathan 115-113 harrison over polo. stupid judge. she's hot for an old bag, but she sucks as a judge.

Brodie won round 3 clearly but no way he was winning the fight clearly. He was staggering around the ring in round 1. Round 2 was pretty close and I can see it going to Brodie or Harrison. Brodie's so much smaller than harrison I don't know if he ever would have beaten Harrison but in his prime he would have lasted longer than 4 rounds.

Just strikes me as odd that the Kostya Tszyu/Ricky Hatton fight will start at 2:00 A.M. England time. The fight is in England. Must be die-hard boxing fans over there to stay up that late to watch a fight.

People in manchester are nuts, despite the fact that they knew the fight was starting at 2am, it sold out IMMEDIATELY. They are die hard Ricky hatton fans for sure, he sold out fighting several bums as well. The reason it is on so late over there is because it's a big enough fight that they wanted to show it live on Showtime. They didn't want to show it on tape delay.

Been trying to handicap this fight myself and cannot figure out what the better bet would be. I like Tzsyu.

Under 8.5 rounds -125
Tzsyu inside distance -170

What do you guys think??

I really hate watching fights where there is this much holding, punching behind the head, elbows and heads smacking, arm wrapped around necks, and so much wrestling around. Its not enjoyable. Damn just stand and fight.

The ref just kinda let it go all night.

Hutton deserved the win but wtf Tzsyu can't show for round 12 when the fight is even ?? Come on champ, its one round. Remember the rope a dope ? run for a round , you got a chance to win you don't just sit there like a chump..

And that speech at the end was no consolation. If you can't answer the bell for the 12 th round you just need to shut up and go to the showers.

I hate fights where one fighter is close to retirement.

Ruiz, Golata, Tzsyu.....lose and retire

oh well , I like the hutton in the future.

bad weekend for me. boxlocks just went to bed.

even though my post above stats Hatton should fight on the inside with Kostya, and him getting the stoppage is not out of the question. Ricky was much more patient in this fight. plus, he never even worked Kostya's body as a point. He landed a few good ones. I think if Hatton goes to the body often, he makes Tszyu quit a few rounds earlier.

Kostya should have fought the last round and went for the kayo.
He should hang them up.

He should have fought the last round? Were YOU in the ring dealing with Hatton's onslaught? I lost money on Tszyu, but a blind person could see he was spent. Yea, real easy to say what someone else should do. He got beat. Ugly surely, but he was overwhelmed, and that's that.

Hey, I dont know a whole lot about boxing, but it does piss me off when the guy cant come out for one more round, but can give speeches and pose for pictures after the fight. Regardless, Hatton fought brillliantly. But, Tszyu's posing for pictures left a bad taste in my mouth despite the graciousness of both fighters. But, still a great fight - def not lacking in action.

Thanks as always for the picks Boxlocks.

"the bunker"
""but i mentioned to box...and i`ll say it here....that recently, most of your upsets have come when the dog comes out aggressively and takes the fight to the favorite...

brewster/golota....both glen johnson fights with jones and tarver...mormeck vs braithwaite..winky stood his ground with trinidad..barrera jumping on morales took him out of the fight early..pacquaio jumping on marquez...

when vince phillips beat tszyu,he went to war with him and just outlasted kostya....kostya had to fight a hard pace...and he was the one that wilted...

we saw what happened when mitchell tried to be cute and clever with tszyu...he walked through him...

hatton`s workrate...his youth...that homecourt advantage..and that bodywork...he`s not coming into this without some edges...

guys like tszyu, marquez, jones, tarver and trinidad are used to getting mad respect in the ring...they like to set their own pace and are usually allowed to do just that...they get so much respect from opponents..

i think that if hatton`s smart,he`ll come out firing and try and seize an advantage..set the tone...go to tszyu`s 35 year old body hard...it`s dangerous...but,he`s here to win...

this is a different fight than tszyu vs mitchell...this looks to be a hard, physical fight...while it lasts..

and do we really know whether,at 35,kostya is up to it after one short fight off a long layoff?.....

after being wowed by the mitchell destruction,i`m not so sure that it didn`t leave more ???? than answers...

my intial gut was tszyu inside the distance...along with many other guys....

but guys have hung in with tszyu`s power before... and he is 35....

after playing tszyu several ways early on,i`m kind of looking for a hedge...

i don`t see hatton playing cutey...i see a rough and tumble, tszyu dropping bombs and hatton wailing away to the body kind of fight..not an easy fight for either guy......

close, hard combat....a battle of attrition..if i were hatton`s people,i`d go for it....do what you do best...apply pressure...crowd tszyu...wear him down...don`t give him room to onleash that right hand...stay on his chest...

or,get inside and then get the hell out...never stand at arms length...tszyu needs a little room to punch..

i can see why you are looking at the under...

and if you see this as a toss-up,maybe some pocket change on hatton might not be a bad idea"""

i feel like hatton had the right idea...he used the crowd and jumped on tszyu from the opening bell....didn`t give him room...clinched.....roughed him up...showed alot of balls...

btw.i hate the clinching,too...guys should be penalized more often for it...

and tszyu wilted like he did vs phillips...he`s 35 and hasn`t had very many really tough fights over the last few years...

i`m happy because i have a monster parlay riding and i hedged with hatton anyway.....and had an excellent day in the ufc....

to many people on tszyu...that`s always worrisome...

as far as box having a rough night.....that`s the first one in my recent memory.....

i came on here several years ago and fletch and i were the only ones really hitting the combat sports...

trying to drum up some interest....

then boxlocks came in and took it to a new level...i don`t even post that much anymore....box carries the ball just fine....week in and week out...

always has plays for guys and almost always wins.....

then we get guys like franks and spreadking and flipper and some others and it turns out this is a damned nice contact sports board....when i`m not bitching and moaning about something...lol

i think box is entitled to one bad week...i know many betting accounts are much better off for his work on this board....

next week the winning will continue...

g.l. fellas...

Spread, Am I awake now? WTF?

Anyway

IMO this fight was very similar to the Sheika-Lacy fight. Yes Hatton is more skilled than Shieka but it doesn't change the fact that he knew he couldn't trade with Kostya and he can't box a lick so he smothered and held Kostya instead. I know its legal to fight like John Ruiz, punch, hold, punch, hold, but it won't get you much respect.

Just so everyone knows, I am a Hatton fan, love his go for broke style. I just don't like the kind of fight he fought tonight.

I don't like the way Cory Spinks and Ian Gardner fight either. Its a comletely different style but both styles mentioned are ways of getting out of exchanging punches because you can't hang with your opponent. Smart but weak...imo

Tzsyu was very disappointing despite Hatton's tactics. Ricky was wide open coming in just like everyone expected and Kostya didn't take advantage of it.

Hatton going to the body more would have been very dangerous and he knew that, which is why he didn't do it. (leaves him even more open to big counters)

My hedge on Hatton by decision was right on. I still can't get over the fact that Tzsyu's corner talked him into quiting with one round left.

Unbelievable!!!

Oh well, still up HUGE for the year

On to next week

No problem Spread

You're right, I usually do post a reply right after the fights (win or lose)

Last night I had a party to attent, but left for an hour just to watch the fight live, which is how I posted my thoughts after 5 rounds. However, the minute the fight was over, I had to go back to the party. I got home, watched the fight again, and posted my thoughts. Sorry for the delay but I didn't think it deserved taking a shot at me.

I too hope there's more fights to chose from next week.
