A few notes:

I have started the thread on Tuesday the 14th, due to the big fights in Japan. 3 of them, and a few sites already have lines listed.

Travis Walker returns off TV Thursday in an interesting fight against Quezada.

Friday Night Fights is taken over by the Cubans once again, with Prescott headlining.

The Simpson-Truscott rematch is also televised Friday (SKY), and I believe Telemundo will carry Vasquez Jr vs. Santos.

On Saturday, the BIG fight of the week. Khan vs. Kotelnik, with a damn intriguing undercard. Kell Brook, Enzo Mac, and Small vs. Hall.

Also in England Saturday, two undefeated fighters meet when Cleverly defends against McIntosh.

Two final notes. Top Rank is listing Soto Karass vs. Alexis Camacho on boxrec, but with no venue (?). Not sure if this card is still on or not.

And finally, it saddens me to see Kelvin Davis fighting against Welliver Saturday. Davis, now, is no different than Terry Norris or Meldrick Taylor. For a promoter to put this guy in a ring is just ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING.

I'm curious to get opinions on Khan/Kot. Personally I think the line is skewed in favor of the guy who has shown he doesn't have the best defense or chin. Kot is a solid Ukrainian fighter that doesnt do anything exceptionally well but he is well schooled and he's one tough SOB. Some people have enormous dough on Khan and quite frankly, that baffles me. Perhaps I have it wrong but my dough is on the doggy. I love his attitude and he appears to be fiercely determined to defend his title. Khan has the venue, reach, power and speed advantagess- not to mention the Roach factor plus the opportunity to have gotten numerous rds in with Pac but I still like Kot here. Khan was hurt by Limond and Gomez and starched by Prescott.

I agree with Romi, I will go for Kot, you get him incl. a draw at around +200 so I get paid as long as Khan is not winnig . I think this a a very nice value bet :toast:

Maybe I bet on a very "weird" line:
Amir Khan to suffer a knockdown and win the fight hmmm seems to be nice at +800 maybe a small one

add maybe some on Draw and Kot. wins by Ko...

What do you think? :0corn

My $$ are already on Kotelnik by KO at +500.

I'm waiting to know if Warren brings his POS referee O'CONNer to protect Amir, in which case i will have to hedge Khan by KO.

The things these two ( Warren and O'Conner )get away with is mind blowing.

Based on what occurred with Barerra, nothing would surprise me. Allowing Mab to continue with that horrendous cut was disgraceful (even though I was grateful because I bet Amir:grins:). The venue is a huge consideration and it could very well be the deciding factor.

I'm with you Romi, Khan is good, but I wouldnt be comfortable to bet any serisous amount on him, not with his chin.

IMO Kotelniks defence, chin and boxing ability are really good! His speed is decent and his conditionning is pretty good too.
obvisously he is a bit lacking in the power departement (even though he might be underrated as a puncher) and his style is just not exciting enought to make him more marketable.

I'm still contemplating this one. I certainly wont bet Khan straight, IMO he cant stop Kotelnik, not without the help from the ref anyway.

Maybe Khan can win a decision, but Kotelnik is good!

Khan is also moving up a division, so Kotelnik might hit harder (at lightwelter) than Khan expects....

Well, going against the board in one of my biggest wagers this year :scared

I think Khan is too fast for Kotelnik and will bust him up.

The only thing that Kotelnik has over Khan is the better chin and that won't matter when his eyes and nose are busted up.

I do believe that Kotelnik can hurt Khan, Gomez style but not Prescott style.

With the venue if Khan remains on his feet, he wins and I just don't think Kotelnik has the power to KO Khan.

The fight that sold me on this bet was Kotelnik vs Gavin Rees. Khan would blow Rees out of the water but Kotelnik let him linger and steal rounds. Ree's was much smaller with no punch and shit boxing skills and he gave Kotelnik a much tougher go than should have been the case.

I am not a big fan of Con or his chin and I expect him to be dummied again at some point but it won't be this fight.

I have about 4 golden bets a year and this is one of them.

Khan cuts Kotelnik to pieces in an easier than expected win!!!!

Good luck all!!!! :toast: :toast: :toast:

Kotelnik had a good fight with tough Maidana and we saw Maidana make the golden boy Ortiz quit few weeks ago . Khan was about to get tagged by the old man and they were in hurry to stop the fight before Khan gets put on his azz again , also this early headbutt sure put Barrera off his game . Kotelnik is solid and over 9.5 rounds looks like a lock unless Kotelnik stops Khan because Khan is unlikely to make the ukrainian quit early . IMO

I know a lot is being made of Maidana beating the Golden Boy Ortiz but Khan is a different fighter than Maidana.

Also if my memory serves, Khan beat Golden Boy Ortiz pretty badly in the amateurs stopping him in the second round. :toast:

Aren't you making Khan a superman, sort of ?
I agree he has great handspeed, but he won't maintain it all throughout 12 rds.

The man hs to breathe sometimes.

Kotelnik has a nearly impenetrable defense, so how can you be so sure he will get stopped on cuts ?

Weights from Japan
The official weigh-in ceremony took place on Monday at a couple of fight sites in Japan. WBC bantam champ Hozumi Hasegawa, Japan, and #4 ranked Nestor Rocha, US, both tipped the beam at 117.5 pounds. WBA minimum kingpin Roman Gonzalez, Nicaragua, scaled in at 104.25 to 105 (the class limit) for Katsunari Takayama, Japan. In Tokyo, WBC feather ruler Takahiro Aoh, Japan, weighed in at the 126-pound limit, while Elio Rojas, Dominican Republic, was so surprisingly light at 124.5. The three world title bouts will be held at night tomorrow (Tuesday) at the World Memorial Hall, Kobe, and at the Korakuen Hall, Tokyo. Akihiko Honda, President of Teiken Promotions, says that the order of the three title bouts will be still uncertain, depending on the outcomes at the two sites.

This is one fight card I would love to see, what action for a Tuesday! Is Hasegawa so sharp these days, that he TKO's the durable Rocha- good chance, worth a play IMO...TKO 9-10 I'll take a stab at Rojas, but the young man is going to have to conquer in Japan... Gonzalez opponent sounds pretty good but he did lose a close one to a guy Gonz lit up in 4.... Wiill the Nicaraguan use the loss of countryman Arguello as a springboard and dominate? Any stream/liinks, let me know- I've seen some advertised via a google search on the boxers name. C'mon HH, you've been gold for a few fights- UNDER!!!!!!!!

Punchmaster - I see it like you do:

Rojas +225
Hasegawa UNDER 10.5 +220

Hasegawa is a MACHINE. I know Agbeko was impressive, but I think the best 118 pounder in the world fights out of Kobe, Japan.
If you haven't seen Hasegawa, youtube this kid. REAL DEAL.

Rojas was a very good amateur. Tough to win in Japan, but I believe there is definite value here.

Good luck. If I can track down a stream, I will post. The two toughest live streams to find are South Africa and Japan. Hope something pops up.

I have a bundle on little Alexis. I took it for -600 and the line is -900 on a few sites. You have to think he'll want to pay homage to Arguello. I know chalk kills but I'll be shocked if Gonzo loses. The line opened at -350 :scared. I'm thinking of taking Rojas as well for a small wager. Evan and Graham are both picking the upset. Hopefully we'll have the result by xmas.

I took rojas for a small play...good luck gents!

I wanted to hit the under on Gonzo. I say he gets the takayama the puck out of there. Taka has been feasting on stiffs since his last loss to Niida who btw, Gonzo blasted out in 4. Anywhos, all the lines are down and it's too late but I feel pretty good about gonzo getting him out b4 9 1/2. Good luck everybody. We FINALLY get some early in the week fights!!!
