I was unable to send you an e-mail, but...
How would you make 50 cents with the
least amount of coins if you couldn't use
quarters. Take your answer and add the
usual before and after. Let me know if
that doesn't work.

Pemberton Logic

Pemberton Logic

I know its a bit late but if your looking can you explain your pick of pemberton over Shieka? I have this as a even fight so will take the underdog for that reason alone, but id like to know if you have any ideas. Thanks.

Like you said this is a pretty even
fight and the oddsmakers agree.
The line started out a pick. The
public has been taking the more
popular Shieka. But Shieka is
coming off 2 straight losses with
no rebound fight to get his
confidence back.

This fight is not exactly in Pemb's
back yard but it is across the pond
for Shieka.

They will be fighting for Pemb's belt
not Shieka's and the crowd should
be rooting for a closer to home Pemb.

"the bunker"
for guys other than bl

for guys other than bl

who already knows this...i took sheika at -110 early....then had to protect myself when pemberton hit +170.......that`s a little to much when a fight is this even......

home court.....sheika`s history of cutting and breaking up.....sheika is better but has seen some wars...has some hard miles on him.....

coming off 2 losses,i`m wondering how motivated he is....

so i`ll probably win a little rather than take a loss in a close fight

hoping for under 7.5.....g.l. guys

Wahoooo nice win all! That was one decision i didnt know how it would go at all. Pemberton with his head down at the end of the 11th and surviving.... somehow.....Id say 80% of refs today would have stopped it right there. Same thing with Ward Gatti I and II. Of course that is the ONLY way that this fight compares to the war of heart that Gatti and Ward gave us. Good night at the fights!

Although id love to see the judge who scored the fight to Shieka by 5 round's scorecard. Of course it is semi-possible he scored round 11 to Shieka by 2 points since Pemberton may has well have been knocked out. I too figured draw was the best case after i heard Shieka with a 5 point margin on that scorecard. But hey a win is a win.

good call guys

good call guys

glad i hedged the side....unfortunately for my under, they didn`t really roll until late....

all due respect, imo ,after the last 2 rounds ,i thought sheika did enough to get the nod.......but,i guess it`s all very subjective....some guys like the jab...other guys like the guy that does damage..

but,home-court is a huge factor in what figured to be a close bout if it went the distance......

i was kinda shocked that atlas said the 12th could have gone either way.....what fight was he watching??

an excellent bout late.....i think i overestimated pemberton`s power....

but, sheika did fall asleep in the middle rounds..and didn`t press as much as he shoiuld have...he let pemberton clinch way to much...

again,well done guys....

let`s hope tomorrow`s bouts are as hotly contested....

i suspect candelo-garcia will be.....another toughie.....

Good to have another opinion in this
desert called "off the wall" boxing.

I too thought it was definitely going to
Shieka once the second score was read.
But its very common to have one judge
way off the mark.

Keep those opinions coming Patz. There
is more than enough room on this forum.
And there is plenty of money to be maid
on this sport. It's interesting to see how
many people lose money trying to beat
the point spread on football, basketball,
and baseball. You have three guys right
here at MadJacks that are consistently
winning at boxing.

Anyone who has followed Gardenweasel,
Fletcher, and Boxlocks for the last two
months knows how much money can be
made in boxing. Think about it, in football
you are betting on at least 44 guys to do
what you expect. In baseball you are talking
at least 20 guys to worry about and in
basketball at least 10.

In boxing there is only one guy on each
side you have to handicap. And like I said
if you don't want to do the capping yourself,
you're in good hands with GW, Fletch, and I.

Come on MadJacker's, this is as easy as it gets!

Onto tomorrow night's fun

Onto tomorrow night's fun

Right now I have the victory money that i made on teh Shieka fight. (45 bucks) on Vanderpool. The reasoning for my play is twofold.

1) I read a nice interview on boxingtalk.net with Vanderpool and he sounded real serious about the fight.
www.boxingtalk.net/pages/leon487.htm
Worth a read. He sounds pretty intelligent and interesting that there is a rematch clause in the contract.

2) 2ndly and more importantly this is more a play AGAINST Vargas than a play for Vanderpool. Vargas is coming off a loss in which he was soundly beaten even on Steriods. If you guys saw his interview tonight, he spoke all about how this has given him the opportunity to get "clean" What I want to know is how many fights have we seen Vargas in where his performance was related to a drug of some type. Same question that asked of Sosa will the corked bat "how many homers were hit with the cork?" should be asked of Vargas. Its also well known as that Vargas is not the most intelligent of fighters. Just like in the case of Michael Grant, his confidence and heart are what propelled him through the division. What of that heart now that he has 2 losses under his belt. Great to have some other boxing pundits out there and I look forweard to your opinions. Should be fun to watch and definatley worth 12-1 IMO. Good luck all.

That's what I'm talkin about Patz.
Way to jump in and give your take!

Personally I think Vargas dominates
this fight, but with odds like that its
worth a small risk on the dog.

If you think Fits will make this a close
fight you might also want to play the
over 6.5 for +150 or so.

"the bunker"
one more opinion

one more opinion

i just checked some ratings and lo and behold the wbc has ole` fitzy rated #1......that`s right......top of the heap......the big kahuna......cock of the walk.....

that`s pretty absurd.......considering that the guy has never, ever beaten a top ten contender.......i think the only real contender was back in "95" or "96" when he was stopped by charles murray....

the closest thing he`s seen to a contender is young prospect hercules kyvelos and shop worn ray oliveira(a loss and a draw)....

boxing politics....don`t you just love `em....

absolutely not a shot at our new bud, patz......there are reasons to look at anybody fighting vargas.....the layoff......the recent poor performances...the severe beatings he`s taken in his losses....and the struggles vs pugs like shibata flores.....

the guy was knocked down by light punching wilfredo rivera....

but, vanderpool is basically a wild swinging, not to accurate, slapping bicycle rider in the ring.....

he may talk about k.o.`ing vargas.....but i believe once he gets hit a few shots,it`ll be back on the bike....if not, good night...

the talent gap is enormous....but where is fernando`s head?...

what will be the reaction to going without the steroids?.....will he be weak?.....lethargic?.....or will the old quickness and snap in the punches be back without lugging all that extra, ponderous ,useless muscle....

if he wants to impress and wants to come and get vanderpool,he can probably name the round.....vanderpool is wild and wide with his punches...he has knocked guys down....but a guy with fernando`s amateur background and skill level should not get hit with those punches.....

will vanderpool do his lance armstrong imitation?....

is fernando intent on impressing his homeboys at the forum?....

i see what patz is saying at 12-1....

i see fletch`s thought process on the under 6.5.....the talent gap here is substantial.....

i wish this was a little more of a live body......35 years old.....has had a longer layoff than vargas.....2 stale guys...

but, i would never try and disuade a guy getting 12-1 odds....you miss 10 of these and hit number 11 and you are ahead of the game....

i am taking a small shot on lucero tomorrow vs pacquaio at 10-1......probably won`t win....but given the factors at play here,10-1 is way to much,imo.....

of course, you want to hit some of the more realistic wagers while fooling around with the longshots....

i`m in trouble with the significant other...."the day you got that computer was the worst day of my life!!!!":nono:  ....

time to shut it down.....tomorrow ,guys..

Nice write up guys, every sports book i have found has the vargas fight at
over 6 1/2 -160 and under at +115 or something like that. i read fletcher likes the under and he usually is rite on, any solid leads to this fight?

btp

personally i always lay money on the underdogs, there is always a chance something weird may happen.
