Question???

Question???

Did anyone know ahead of time that Nonito was going to fight lefty for the first four rounds?

Once he switched back to orthodox, he knocked him down 2-3 times and koed in 4 rounds. Just my luck at 27 years old the man tries the southpaw style. I heard him say he needs more sparring at southpaw after the fight. If he needed more sparring at southpaw, don't use it primarily in a title fight. Aren't you suppose to go with your strengths. I wish he would of just fought orthodox the whole fight because that under 7.5 would of hit. I know "woulda shoulda coulda", but it was the difference in this fight going under or over 7.5. :00x25

Don't be too hard on yourself brother. Everyone goes thru these bad spells. A couple months back I was wondering if you were ever gonna lose again. You're one of the most solid cappers here. Just keep doing your thing. It will turn around. Plus you got the win on the Alvarez fight...maybe turning around already!

What's up fellas!

Weekends have unfortunately been a busy time for me lately. Finding it difficult to watch alot of these fights, and that sucks.

Well, this was a bad weekend, no arguing that. There was no recovering from the Smith loss, and Donaire didn't get him in time. Never feels good to lose, but I gotta put things in perspective. I had a run of 5 plus weeks in a row, so...

Let's get'em next week!!!

Recent pictures of Tyson in Italy look like he's gotten himself back into shape. Hope he's not thinking about lacing em up again.

A couple other fights this weekend. I didn't expect them, but was really hoping for odds on the Derrick Findley vs. Zane Marks fight. Woulda gone big on Findley, and sure enough...

I also thought Chop Chop Corley would beat Damien Fuller, and he did. Too much to ask I guess, but it would be nice to see some lines on these mid-level, but competitive fights.

Also, I was gonna mention that I thought Zack Page was gonna slap around the big Irish oaf McBride, and he did, winning an easy decision. Not that he was ever gonna amount to much, but you'd think they would've given McB some stiff to roll over. Not Mr. upset Page.

It wasn't a bad pick. NOBODY knew except his inner circle that he was going to do that. You could see that he wasn't nearly as effective fighting sthpaw and immediately when he switched to orthodox, he took the guy apart. As Ghost mentioned, those early under picks can be heart breakers. Quanah and I can say the same thing about Smith. Who the fvck knew he'd been fighting a virus all week. Fuck, I didn't even know he came in at 145. THat would have set off alarms for me, and no way would have I placed those wagers at that price. SMith killed what would have been an excellent week. Shit happens all the time in this sport. No question you will get it back.

Under/overs can be damned tricky, Romi, as we all know. We just can't be sure of a fighter's mindset going into a bout. Donaire said after the fight he "needed the rounds". Basically he just experimented with the southpaw style for four rounds, then got down to business. I remember David Haye going 12 dull rounds with Ismail Abdoul and saying afterwards that after scoring so many quick KOs he wanted to go 12 rounds and practice using the left jab. The rematch between Wayne Braithwaite and Louis Azille looked sure to go "under" because Braithwaite had blasted Azille in three rounds in a previous meeting. Braithwaite scored an early knockdown but hurt his hand and went to a moving, boxing style to win on points over the full 12-round distance. Under/overs can be a hit-and-miss proposition, that's for sure.

2 weeks ago I said the was NO WAY Arum was going to put Jr in with a top dog. The talk about fighting Cotto was just talk. Now after countless times Arum saying JR was ready for a shot, he's now alledgedly going to fight none other than Mayorga. Arum is a piece of work. He's going to milk every last peso from every last Chavez fan. Barrera is also going to fight David Diaz according to the same report and not Soto as was previously mentioned. Just 1 more "Latin Fury" to squeeze a little more milk out of these cash cows.

No truer words spoken. When you have been around long enough you are able to pick out some nuances about fighters and sometimes you can pick up on things that reveal their true self. We don't always have to buy into the hype when the fighters unknowingly give us some clues about the reality of things. Your refering to your friends comments that "talkers lose" was no truer when that ass clown Lundy got knocked on his dumb ass the other night. Talkers talk simply to hide their inner fear. Lundy should have won but his talking and clowning cost him dearly. Had he just kept his big mouth shut and gone out and done his job, he would have won that fight.

I appreciate the kind words Quanah and Romi. Also, Mr. Graham Houston, I concur with everything you said about a fighter's mentality. Just because a boxer has the ability to dominate and end a boxing match early, that boxer may choose to practice a new technique or style to gain experience and proficiency.

Let's get'em next week! :D
