Brown fails to answer the bell in the 10th

He easily went the distance with Chi, but got stopped by John???

Unbelievable

"the bunker"
first off...i`m happy that lacy won....was good for me gambling-wise...

but,as an american....i thought jorge alonso sucked on ice...the ref was solely concentrating on reid the whole fight,imo....

nobody hates excessive holding in fights more than i do, but i thought the ref went a bit overboard.......

was reminiscent of rocky juarez/zahir raheem when the ref basically took rahim out of the fight by his actions...this one was not nearly as bad as raheem/juarez......but,a poor job...

make no mistake, lacy was going to beat reid...i know that to be true..but,the ref absolutely was myopic in his handling of reid...

a dirty fight..lacy going low...hitting on the break on the first knockdown...reid head-butting...excessively holding...

but,i thought alonso was slow breaking the fighters and was reticent to put his hands on them and physically take control...

i hate excessive holding..i think it ruins fights...and reid was clinching to much....but,lacy is super powerful....i understand why reid was doing it,,,,

i just thought alonso could have been a bit more even handed...

shows you that no matter where the fight is held, homecourt is a powerful advantage...

calzaghe/lacy?......i don`t think it happens...i doubt calzaghe makes the fight....

but if it does,my pick is calzaghe by d.q....in wales...

This Joe Cabbilzaggy better be ready when Lacy gets to Wales. I would like to see his fight in Sept . Who is Joe fighting ? anyone that will test him ?

Calzaghe will be fighting the mandatory challenger for his WBO belt, who has not been decided yet.

Here are the current WBO rankings...

Champion: Joe Calzaghe

1. Librado Andrade
2. Rudy Markussen
3. Anthony Mundine
4. Vitali Tsypko
5. Mger Mkrtchyan
6. Otis Grant
7. Cristian Sanavia
8. Scott Pemberton
9. Mario Veit
10. Robin Reid
11. Brian Magee
12. Lolenga Mock
13. Manny Siacca
14. Robert Stieglitz
15. Peter Mitrevski

I imagine he will be fighting one of the top 4

Librado or Tsypko would be easy work for Joe

Markussen is a big puncher who could test Joe's suspect chin, but that would be his only chance.

Mundine won't be able to hurt Joe, but he's very fast and could outbox him. Of course that won't matter, in Wales he won't get a decision.

We normally don't get Joe's fights. But since this is setting up a super-fight with Lacy, they might show it over here to gain interest. If not we could get the fight on tape a week later.

Personally, I agree with GW that the fight will never take place. But I really hope it does.

Andrade won't get the fight. I think he would pose the biggest threat to Joe. Joe would be wise to outbox him.

Lacy seems to be unbeatable at this point. You have to land a lot of big blows (which you can because his defense is not there), but you also have to take a lot of punches. I think I favor him over Calzaghe.

sorry about the Browne fight. maybe Chi isn't as powerful as we all thought ? i'm starting to think that.

From what I've read, Brown suffered a bad cut early in the fight and his other eye got busted up pretty good also. His corner recommended stopping the fight, probably due to his facial injuries more than anything. He was getting beat for sure, but without the facial, he probably would have gone the distance...oh well.

I got a big play coming up next week, no line out yet. I'll pm you over at the other forum so we can discuss.

Congrats on a good week Spread, well done.
